Hello Rich Carlson, I first want to say I love your videos and thank you so much for showing the nuances in rope rigging! Very informative to see visual demonstrations of things I have heard and read about before. I was wondering if there is a possibility to show a video on the variations of the CRT Totem compared to the original one, I have had the original totem for a while now and I absolutely love it! But am curious to see some examples of the CRT such as how to lock off properly using the friction horns. Or the similarities/differences in decent modes and contingency anchors. I realize that the CRT has so many possibilities, especially with the added rigging plate that it is practically endless. But a video of a few examples would be greatly appreciated. Again thank you for the many videos and I look forward to watching more in the future!
Hi Rich. When transitioning from ascending to rappelling, why not just rig rappel device and stand up and remove jumar? What's the point of clipping short?
Joe, of course there is more than one way to accomplish a task. Your question references jumars. They are easy to put on and take off, so in many circumstances you could skip clipping short. But other forms of rope grabs are not so easy to take off. Prusik, Tibloc, Ropeman, Micro Traxion. Clipping short allows you to position yourself closer to the rope grab and to relax while removing it.
If he was to miss the point he was trying to clip in short to and fell, he'd be shock loading those personal anchors. I can't see from this point in the video 4:49 any way that he'd catch him self if his personal anchor broke in this way.
I just discovered your channel and am looking forward to seeing more videos
Thanks, Rich.
Thanks for your teaching.

Hi Rich, curious what harness you're wearing. Are there a few class II type that you recommend for rescue work? Thanks!
