    I got lucky enough to see one in Tampa,Florida. Years ago. On the bridge coming off of davis island/Tampa General. That bridge is the exact spot where the Hillsborough River meets Tampa Bay. Ive seen 100s of manatees using the same path for years plus they make a circular wake on top of the water. The thing i seen did not take the normal mantee path. It took the middle of the bridge where boat traffic usually the heaviest. It swam 2 or 3 feet under the surface and made no wake. I had a perfect Aerial position to see it for literally a split second. It swam so fast it was unbelievable. Its main characteristics are the pitch fork tail but it also has leg fins plus arm fins so that’s probably why it swims so much better than a manatee. I think this thing is very endangered! And there’s probably a few handful that have been luckily breeding. Just my experience that i thought has to be shared. I would love to talk to the person who filmed this video

      Those are manatees the reason that one step that forked looking tail is probably got hit by propeller or something it cut it like that I think that's what they discovered that these but I seen its face while ago when it barely come up and it's a manatee

      It could be some sort of hybrid species of manatee…I remember seeing the snout moving up to surface (sowerwine footage) and it looked a brownish dog? 🤔 very interesting…I know Sowerwine had a website at one point but took it down…👀

      I don’t think it’s a manatee my guess it is it’s own species that’s not a mammal had to stay submerged because it can’t breath that’s just my guess if it were a manatee no reason why it wouldn’t come up so this creature must not be capable of getting out the water unless it’s very afraid but if it was that scared it wouldn’t have come up at all so there has to be a reason it won’t show it self and It has to do with it’s breathing or it knows it just ugly and afraid people will talk and kill it’s self esteem

    this creature skull design is different from a manatee its more robust like a seal and their muzzle is elongated simular to a Leapard seal indicating it has teeth and is probably predatory. iv seen many videos of these things and i can tell you they are NOT like anything i know to live there. Iv seen damaged manatee tails and the one constant i see with this animals tail is the fork pattern is symmetrical meaning its very unlikely for a damaged tail to look so perfectly shaped on both sides making this animal truly special and unique. My guess is its a undiscovered cousin of the seal family just much more robust and aggressively built given that its in the same waters as crocs gators and sharks.

      Honestly if you are able to convince yourself that you're seeing a manatee that's amazing what the human brain can do. I was seeing a rather large bat the other day and I was convinced it was a bird until I said to myself, no, that IS a huge bat what am I thinking. Then I could see the pointed folds of it's wings. Your brain is doing a hell of a job here. That thing is over 20ft long. You look really, insanely out of it by your profile pic too. Doubt you'd be able to snap into reality and realize you're seeing something different.

    • @GameDevNerd
      @GameDevNerd 2 роки тому

      Monster Quest is a hype show that never reaches a conclusion on anything. It's entertaining but not academic in any way. They find anyone they can to share alternative interpretations of videos and facts for entertainment. This isn't one creature, these are different animals in different places at different times. It's 90% ordinary manatee footage. Otters can make you think you're looking at a "monster" too, that happened to me personally when I was young and when I realized it was otters I was relieved lol. I found their den and gave them some fish. Only the second video clip is a bit puzzling with that perfectly squared off thing appearing to be a fin coming out of that still water. But I'd still assume it's a known creature or a known creature disturbing something under water before I assume it's something magical or legendary. I saw a great video of what appears to be a river serpent in Alaska that turned out to be a heavy mooring rope snagged on a sunken log, and it fooled a lot of experts for months until someone figured out what it was.

    I know exactly what it is a Florida resident was fishing near by he contacted Florida game fish & wildlife they came out to investigate and discovered a manatees that had been injured by a careless boater it's tail had been split in 3 pieces the injury had healed and it didn't seem to brother the animal too much and it was playing with another so fish & game let it be. Please power boat operators please put a prop shield on your motors propellers. Protect wild life. Manatees are slow swimmers. There are hundreds of injuries every year.

    • @darkprose
      @darkprose 4 роки тому +1

      Yeah, I think there are probably two or more animals in these videos and at least one is a manatee. By the way, manatees are powerful, fast swimmers. They are not often seen swimming fast, but they can and they do, especially if they are spooked.

I seen these tapes about 7 years before MonsterQuest was even a thing. We used to work together and we would talk about fishing all the time and one day when he trusts me enough after a few years he said I'm going to bring something and it's going to blow your mind. He brought in a VHS tape and said besides my brother and one other person you're the only person that seen this. He says he hides them because things people wouldn't believe him. Mind you he showed me these back in 2003 and they were several years old to begin with. it was in one of his fishing spots and one year you would see these big things but they would stay far away from him and he said every year they were kind of venture a little bit closer so we brought out one of those big old camcorders from the 90s through it on a tripod and recorded these. He would sit out there for hours and hours day after day just to get what little footage he has of them.

      no, it is a West Indian Manatee, It behaves like one in every respect, including the speed, According to the website of the Smithsonian Marine Station at Fort Pierce Manatees reach a top speed of 18-25 kph which is consistent with the footage shown here.

  • @darkprose

    Here’s something that needs to be cleared up: Yes, manatees can swim _fast._ They are powerful animals with large tails that can propel them forward like a torpedo. Sure, we don’t usually _think_ of them that way. But just look up videos people have captured of manatees that are scared or chasing each other. Don’t let the stereotype fool you. They are capable of great bursts of speed and energy: ua-cam.com/video/eyf2FmeeIR0/v-deo.html
    That said, I wish all cryptid footage was as good as this. Clearly, this is a zoological phenomenon, not a boat wake or floating log. Unfortunately, it’s probably footage of at least one or two known species. One is a manatee. The other could be a pinniped. I would love to see the _entire_ footage that Sowerwine recorded as it might have more clues. But I think some of this footage depicts a marine mammal and likely a manatee.

      Angelita Orta , the reason we think it's a manatee is because those gentle creatures tend to swim close to the surface and when boats go passing by fast, they cut through them, thus giving them fucked up tails that makes it look like a sea monster tail, plus the texture of its skin is soooo manatee, if you live in Florida, you know!
