    Those are plume agates, the more plumes you see,the better chance of getting what looks like flowers. The plumes will run in one direction, so cut the piece diagonally to reveal the ends of the plumes. Nice finds, but you passed up quite a few pieces other than the geode.In flood state the streams and rivers end up suspending tons of rock and sediment in the water. When the flow of water slows down the solid materials drop out. The heaveyest pices drop out first, so search the up stream end of the gravel bars for agates ,gem crystals and gold. I've been collecting this wayfor about twenty years. The best collecting is about one day after heavey rains, this allows the waters to recede and the mud to dry somewhat.Thank you for leaving material for others to find, we have too many site rapers in the field who ruin it for all of us. Good luck and safe collecting.

    17:21 That’s fossilized/agatized coral! And at 18:10, that’s petrified/agatized wood! I love Kentucky for rocks. I’m heading up again this weekend! ❤

    Can’t wait to get to Kentucky, we recently joined a rockhounding club that goes once in a while, we go back & forth from Pennsylvania to South Carolina but it’s a little too far out of our way for a pit stop. Looks like you are into some great material there though

    Thanks for the video. These help me learn what to look for. But maybe not the music. The natural sounds are a blessing themselves.

    Just came across this. Nice video; thanks for posting. You had pretty good luck this day! I've had a few times where I had good luck, but several times, not as well as you did this day. I've probably been on 15-20 agate trips. I think I've been to this same area several times. I appreciate you giving folks a pretty good idea of what hunting KY agate is like -- the main thing that is hard to describe is how tiring it is, especially if you walk several miles of creek in a day. Thanks again.

    Wow! The amount and size of agates you found is crazy. The botryoidal and some of the size of it is amazing too. Being from Montana I am very impressed with your agates there. Kurt from Rockhounding Adventures said to check out your videos and said what a great guy you are. Love this video, will definitely be watching more!✌🤠

      Cool thank you so much. I’m hoping to get some new content soon. With my job carrying mail it’s been hard to do anything during the holidays so I’m hoping it’ll slow down some.

    Loved this video. I'm a newbie from lower MI, so it's about 10 hours for me to get lake superior agates, one day. Until then I will sit here learning and watch from your videos. Currently only find quartz and some jasper on the creek and river by me. Cool variety, love the banding. Wondering finds. Just wow!

    Those agates are parts of geodes or thunder eggs. They are a mix of chalcedony and rhyolite, very pretty.

    • @kentuckyrockhound8420
      @kentuckyrockhound8420  2 роки тому +2

      They are more geode material. We don’t have rhyolite here it’s all sedimentary rock. But they are solid for the most part like thunder eggs. They are weird honestly how they give no indication how they are gonna look on the inside.

I need new spot to hound. Me and my lady have worn the same piece of creek out that we go to. Any suggestion on area? Keep the videos coming.

    I loved the video and the nature scenes. You found so many beautiful keepers. I just want to say I feel like the music is a little repetitive. Once you got to the creek and started hunting I think if the music died out so we the viewers could only hear the nature side this video would of been on the next level.

      Thanks. This is my actual first collecting video so that’s good info. I really was unsure
      What to do at all. Just wanted people to see what I see when collecting. I’ll do what you suggest in the next one. Cause I’m sure the nature sounds would be so much better
