    You PERFECTLY summed up what the corridor of dreams sequence could mean imo. Just lookin back at those pages used in the video still makes me teary eyed, especially that of Casca bein held by Farnese in that chibi esc form; and the one where Guts is represented by a wounded dog draggin a casket behind him which, in and of itself, symbolises that he is carryin the weight of all his dead friends, not wantin to let them go AND the fact that death is followin Guts everywhere and if he ever gives up then he'll die. Thank you for the video!

    One of the best parts of Fantasia for sure, easily one of the most trippy/abstract parts of the manga

    The sheer amount of phallic monstrosities in her nightmare is disturbing. Not all is due to Griffith, either, as she’s been reminded of a “woman’s place” all throughout the Golden Age arc. Her story with Griffith starts with him helping her rescue herself from being violated only to then betray that and do it himself, all the while it’s been a venomous taunt and occurrence in her existence. It is truly a fantastic, and deeply painful, representation by Miura.

    It was horrendous when Casca breaks down after seeing Guts right after getting her mind back, Miura did such a wonderful job depicting the horror on Guts face seeing her in pain, I remember just gritting my teeth reading it & feeling absolutely terrible for Guts.
    Then seeing Guts having to stay on his own to spare her the pain, I remember being so moved when he started playing swords with the Moonlight boy. God I love this story, nothing else compares with it for me, I just can’t wait until all the deluxe editions are released & I can reread the entire series in this wonderful format.

    Listening to Carl Jung's soul in your video, I remembered a poem by the Roman emperor Hadrian, which he wrote before his death:
    Roving amiable little soul,
    Body's companion and guest,
    Now descending for parts
    Colourless, unbending, and bare
    Your usual distractions no more shall be there..

    This sequence being present just before the ending is one reason I would be okay with Berserk ending at 364. Big kudos to Miura for gifting us with the internal battle between Guts and Griffith in Casca's dreamscape.

      @InfamyOrDeath-__- 2 роки тому +3

      Yea I’m actually fine with the ending we got, if it had to end anywhere I’m bloody glad as hell that it ended here, with Casca’s mind restored & the final page is Guts, Griffith & Casca all together again just staring at each other.

    One of my favorite moments in berserk it’s so iconic Imo I haven’t read berserk in a couple of months after finishing it and when I occasionally think about it I always think about the corridor of dreams it was so good. I also really like casca so that’s probably why I always think about it.

    Really interesting to see casca’s trauma personified. It really makes you think how guts’ or even Griffith’s would look 🤔

    • @tobykassulke2385
      @tobykassulke2385 2 роки тому +11

      Griffiths personified trauma would be interesting. He's seemingly a "perfect" being. Its hard to picture stuff being traumatic to him. Maybe Guts leaving or him being tortured could be his trauma?

      @@filipevasconcelos4409 yeah definitely that. I would also imagine it would look something like back when he mistakenly killed adonis. Images of Donovan and Gambino in apostle-like forms and some eclipse flashbacks.

    Another great lesson Professor Ryan! Love how you show the romance and depth of Berserk. Such passion for the subject doesn’t go unnoticed. You have once again brought light to a dark and sad moment. I hope Casca can one day look upon Guts with the love ❤️ we know she has for him, painlessly! 💗

    A Berserk Monster Manual!!!!!! Yes!!!
    Edit: best one yet, the Jung-Berserk correlation is impeccably accurate and demonstrates an important yet overlooked connection between trauma, dreams, and the subconscious.
    Thank you for the time and effort put into this video, Ryan.

    I’m walking my fiancé through your berserk storytelling ❤️ he didn’t like to listen at first, until I made he realize the sheer effort and magnitude of Kentaro Miuras life work.
    He’s actually interested now! We’ve went from watching 1 video to now 5 back to back before his “Apex” senses start to kick in and he has to go play with the boys 😒
    But that’s better than nothing! And for him to even bother with manga means Berserk is truly a masterpiece ahead of it’s time, still!
