Well done. I did it 50 years ago with my then young French wife and we have never regretted it. Have a good life. We're still young!
Thank you! What a lovely story!
I meant we're still young...in our heads! It looks lovely where you are. We live in Lyon and the Beaujolais hills.@@richard_hall
I got that! beautiful area, have been a few times!
Well hello near neighbours from just 30 minutes south of you. Loved your video, though I did laugh when you said you were moving for the warmth and sunshine; given that we've had the wettest & most miserable winter and spring in years. But I hope you are enjoying all the little village fêtes that appear as from the beginning of May.
Soon the big heat folks. In Lyon last summer it was near 40C. Absolutely terrible. I dreamt of the Scottish islands.
Nice to meet you! It has been a very wet spring! All that to come in some of the following episodes! Yes bring on the fetes - Amazing!
So happy for you! We're planning to move to South France from UK soon 🙏
Keep planning and do it! It’s a real life change in a positive way!
Looks beautiful. You are both very lucky. Would love to make the move from Australia to France!
Looking forward to live vicariously through you lovely videos 😊🇦🇺
Such lovely feedback- thank you! Will keep the content coming :)
The channel - Darlene in the Dordogne - is the life blog of an Aussie women who retired to SW France with her Aussie husband. It's quite interesting. My parents retired a couple of years ago and left the US for their native Central France (Cantal). They are positively thriving.
Oh thank you. I am an avid watcher of Darlene’s videos!!!! There are a couple of other Aussies moving to France and making UA-cam videos. Byron to Bordeaux is a great one. Their town house is lovely and La Petite Maison Burgundy.
If you are from the Us you should definitely watch Our French Chateau with Lincoln and Amanda one of my favourites.
Of course there Chateau Diaries and Eacape to Rural France 🇫🇷 💙🤍❤️
Welcome in france when you want🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵🇨🇵
@@michelle2b so much to catch up on!
Isn't it all so loverly, many thanks for sharing your journey.
Thank you! As long as you all keep enjoying we will keep sharing!
Great video Richard!
Thanks! Gemma
Love it, keep making those videos.....
Thank you!
I enjoyed watching this. Your style of filming is very nice, just the right amount of talking to go with the very nice video.
Thank you, your comments are very much appreciated. Fingers crossed you will enjoy the rest of the series equally as much! :)
Nice to "meet" you. I'm for Bordeaux (the most english town in France). Welcome to Aquitaine.
Lovely to meet you too! Thank you. We love Bordeaux!
Congrats!! It's all looking so lovely! You are not that far from my best mate who also has a home in the area! Your pup seems to enjoy the new yard! But you must get a life vest body harness for the boat! Never keep them on a neck leash in a car or boat. Always a secured body harness. I can share some horror stories! ENJOY!!! It's all so lovely!
Thank you, yes we love it here! Actually plenty of people from your neck of the woods here!
Wemoved to riberac at almost exactly the same time, two years go by fast
oooh not to far! Another lovely region!
we moved 2 years ago good luck and bonne chance we are close to sarlat
ahh not to far away at all!
Welcome to 'le sud-ouest'! It can't be too difficult for Brits to adapt to life here! I would be worried about the proximity of the river, though, as you must remember that our region is very wet (the average rainfall mounts to that of most English towns...) Have you talked about that with the locals? Thanks for sharing your adventures!
@@LoloDuSoubestre thank you! So far not too soggy in the Lot. We love the warmth of the summer. We did our research on the river and it hasn’t flooded since the late 50’s when the EDF hydroelectric dams were built, we have two either side of our property, so I’m truly hoping that EDF continue to control the flow to avoid flooding! Thanks so much for watching and putting up with our sometimes crazy life!
@@richard_hall Good news indeed, you are safe, then!
Keep up the good work on UA-cam! Enjoy the autumn here!
Great video Richard!

And yet we are in May and it hasn’t stopped raining !!!

Love Corsica!
The sun has disappeared almost everywhere this year in France, but be patient, summer is coming ....pray !
Welcome to Villeneuve we moved here over five years ago with our young son and love it wish had done it years ago I'm sure you will love it 😁👌
Thank you, we will no doubt bump into you at some point! We do love it, I love the fact we still have so much exploring to do! :)
@@richard_hall after watching a couple more of your videos we have actually met you me and my partner came to your house and had a coffee just after you got it 😂
@@paulvine1487😂 that is funny!
I made the move to France after Brexit but you said you was 60 so I'm under half your age. Can you explain what visa you travelled on etc, how are you encountering the French administration. There is no detail about the process in your videos. Just the promotion of the happy experience. Make friends with the French locals my long-time advice to you, Because you will fall into the ex-pat trap and wont move on or progress. The bamboo you will have to dig it out it will be a 2 year process. Ours grew up to 10 meters , Are you having problems with mosquitos, Merci

I'm french and i have some questions : I've noticed you were driving seating like in France, is it a choice ? Is it hard to get used to on the road ? Anyway, welcome in France !
Thank you, loving life here! Yes we bought a left hand drive car as it is so much easier to drive when on the French roads. Actually I love driving in France I think the country has some of the best roads in the world and so yes I do find it easy!
@@richard_hall Thank you for your answer !
The UK leaving The Common Market was not 🇬🇧 UK smartest move 😊
What was unusual for us is that as Jersey residents we were never in the EU and so we had no vote in the uk Brexit move, because the island is totally independent. But because of the strong uk agreements with the island we were still affected.
I love the "stop being so BBC" comment hahah
Pah! 😂
Please........
