According to Final 2 lore, the Fighter known as R-9Leo Leo, does not come from the original R-Type universe, but from an alternate reality, maybe that is the reason why the original Leo lacked a Wave Cannon and a Force, and somehow Leo ended up in the original universe, in the end the humanity of the original universe recovered the ship and they would build models of Leo that these if they would have a Wave Cannon and a Force, although it is unknown what happened to the pilot of the original Leo.
Flip me guys, I'm glad there's people like you guys who can really play these games. I'd never make it past the first level. I'm so tense for you guys that my hands are sore from gripping my phone lol. Awesome gameplay and video guys. 😀👍👍👍
Really, the best side scrolling space shooter series ever! I have I, II, and Leo on my little home arcade. Irem has put out some good stuff! Leo, IMHO, is, by far, the easier of all of them. Still, not a cakewalk. The visuals from the entire line, is just fantastic! I remember buying a Sega Master System just so I could play R-Type at home. I don't know how many quarters I put in that 7-11 store arcade. 2-3 am, when I couldn't sleep. While the MS couldn't reproduce the arcade version, it was good enough for me. I thought I'd gone to home console heaven until the Genesis came out. Then, the Saturn with Nights into dreams, then, holy mother of God! The Dreamcast! Ok... I am a Sega goo goo muck! Lol!
It's almost criminal that this game never got a home release when consider how good it is along with Cosmic Cop. But atleast the up and coming Sega Mega version of R-Type will have the R-9 Leo ship in the games line up here, that might change the way the the 1st game is played as well hopefully.
It's easy to cheese the third (last) section of the final boss by literally sticking the nose tip of your ship into the boss, as the red blobs cannot harm you because they just hit your satellites.
The Leo was developed from the R9-A arrowhead. The main difference is that the Leo does not have a force controller unit. Instead it has an enhanced bit controller unit. It is the only R-series craft that I am aware of that can not use a force unit.
@@Zero56715 Unless you exclude the R-Type Final incarnation and its descendant (R-9 Leo II) which still has the psy bits and even it was given a more enhanced version of the original Force known as the Leo Force.
Well the force that corrupted the planet Major core is said to be "Unknown" so might as well be a prequel because it seems like the force of humanity doesn't acknowledge Bydo yet.
But what about the Aliens in Image Flight and Image Flight II: Operation Deepstriker that takes place in 21St Century 2048, as well as the "Other Civilization" in R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate Bydo Campaign?
3... 2... 1... LET'S GO!!!

The arranged tracks for this game are top-notch I suggest you to check them out and speed them up at 1.10x for better pleasuring listening.
Meanwhile in R-Type Final 2,
Stage 5 ~Inside the Ruins~ is now remake as DLC Homage Stage.
The stage from Leo that is going to be remade for Final 2 will likely be the first stage if I remember the last time I see them.
Somehow Granzella thought the last part of the stage wasn't quite evil enough and made it even more evil.
Let’s go.
Pikachu!
I want to play this game soooo bad. Wish we could get a compilation with all of the old R-Types.
You can play it on any PC using a MAME emulator.
I got this on a MAME emulator on the PlayStation Classic. It supports every R-Type game up to and including Delta
Iircade just got it.
This needs to be a part of an Irem Collection ASAP! Fans have been asking for a port of it for years.
It's one of the most beautiful shmups in existence.

Allerdings! Die Schergen des Messiah wollen Leo mit seinen Psy-Bits loswereden. Das werden wir verhindern!
👍

Why people hate this game?
Because it's awesome.
Doesn't have the original R-Type sheen as the first two.
Leo is a good shooter but it just doesn't feel much like classic R-Type games. Be it visually or musically. The vibe is just unusual.
Was hat Rosalina denn vor?

The Prequel,to The Original R-Type.....
Actually, this takes place after the original R-Type according to R-Type Final and the series' official timeline.
