  • A Steve Good Pattern, link to it below. First I printed the pattern at 70 percent of original size to fit my material on hand. I stacked two different woods to get a contrast between body, bead, talons and limb. I used two different stains to accent the contrast. By stacking I was able to make two contrasting projects. I used a jewelers file, a flex shaft dremel and my belt/disc sander and of course some hand sanding to form the pieces.

      Yes and it was time consuming. A fun project but if I had to shape pieces like that daily it might get a little tedious.

    Is the backer board protruding on the left figure. If so , do you trim it off?

      Yes, the backer board protrudes about 1/8 to 3/16 all around on both figures. That is the way the pattern is designed, it is more obvious on one because of dark to light contrast. I didn't trim them.
