An outline of what he teaches would have been good. Is he teaching what you already know? I mean what is the class offering. Will it teach you the keys on the keyboard? You may already know the keys on the keyboard. Does it assume you already know that information? Will it focus on chord progressions? Walk-ups? Number System? Circle of Fifths? Is it short? Is it long? Do you have access to the instructor, other students?
What's the prerequisite for the class?
This guy is a good teacher and a master musician, but he's in a space where good musicians prey on those hungry to learn who lack direction. Even sometimes with the best of intentions, they separate students from their dollars and leave them where they found them. After class, they're back to searching UA-cam. It would be good to provide some additional information. Or is that provided somewhere else?
Could you imagine walking up to a counter at a restaurant, where there are no pictures of the food, no prices...but someone standing at a register says...you're going to like this unknown food item that you're about to buy for an unknown price. It's better than any other food you've tried and any other restaurant you've been to.
    🤷‍♂

Great questions Seatrea! I actually created a few web pages, as well as sent some emails, where I answered these questions and more for everyone who joined our email list. This video was just for those who might be interested in joining our list and receiving more information. But I definitely want to try and answer your questions here.
I definitely agree about good musicians preying on students. I have been afforded many opportunities to work with those students who had been previously fleeced for many thousands of dollars by teachers, to still be in the same place musically. It breaks my heart.
And that's why I created this program. This program is the culmination of over 20 years in teaching where I tried to combine the best of online courses, online schools, private lessons, and seminars into a user-friendly package to help students have real growth.
The foundation premise of the program is to use the songs of the church, as vehicles to explore harmony, melody, substitutions, reharmonizations, chordal movements, progressions, gospel stylings, inner voice movement, chords, voicings, runs, riffs, and so much more!
But what's really interesting is that we start at the very beginning for each song we use. We call that the skeleton version, which starts with one note in each hand, and we quickly build into more and more advanced harmony. So no matter where you are on the skill level spectrum, everyone is challenged. We've had musicians who were beginners, all the way to advanced touring musicians, who were literally traveling the world, and they were all challenged. Check out some of the reviews of our students at the bottom of this page - skilledmusician.com/sales-page
I teach each class 3 times a week in person, allowing people from different locations to find the best time that suits them and join one of our live classes. In addition, every class is recorded so in case you miss a class, you can watch the recording. Some students just come to one class a week, but others, actually come to all 3. And getting a chance to hear a lesson taught 3 times helps the information to stick. Not to mention, each class is slightly different as there are different questions asked in each class that have to be explored. I've found students love coming to more than one class.
We also have a community area where students can upload recordings of themselves playing and get feedback from me and other students. It's pretty interactive and keeps everyone motivated and pushing to improve. Also, in every class, I allow each student to play and I give detailed feedback right there on the spot.
As far as prerequisites, if you can play your major scales and primary chords (the 1, 4, and 5) in each key, this program will work for you!
One other advantage is that you have unlimited, lifetime access to this program so that you can review the recordings and continue to grow to more and more advanced levels.
Lastly, this program is for one year. So basically, we will be working together up to 3 times a week in person, for one full year. Plus when you add the phone, email, and community support, we are working together quite a lot.
This is the absolute best program we've created to help students improve. We believe in over-delivering for our students and providing them with everything they could possibly need to improve. And if there is something that I don't have immediately, we will create it. And that could be anything from drum loops, midi files, sheet music, or additional video tutorials.
Thank you so much for your question. I actually might make another video going into more depth about the program, and showing some of the behind-the-scenes stuff!
Please let me know if you have any other questions.
      Be Blessed and Happy Practicing!
      Corey

@@SkilledMusician Thank you, Corey. Your willingness to respond is very much appreciated. Your good intention comes through in every tutorial video that you provide.
We chase UA-cam video lessons, often out of convenience and wallet/purse limitations.
I'll check out the other videos that you have provided. I have looked at other classes of yours. One was closed and another was out of my price range. But I will look for more information on your program.
Yes, I'm comfortable with a 1-4-5 in any key. So, just that information was valuable in the decision making process. Thank you!
