meanwhile the house game i played at never let anyone cashout unless the owner wanted to. i stopped going after the last one. 7pm to 2am, wanted to end it, owner refused to let anyone leave unless they gave up their $. two of us went all in on nothing and threw away our $ at 2:45am just so we could leave. Never talked to the host again, and I played there for years but that happened far to often, that was the last straw
I mean was the guy Scott Steiner or Chuck Liddell? because unless it’s someone looking like Brock Lesnar pulling that nonsense, friends or not, we’re throwing hands 😂
Home game is almost everytime with friends. Its not only about the game itself, but also about being together, so taking your friends money after 5 minutes and then go home is really rude
People shouldn't beat or shoot each other over this, but it's a home game, you're not getting invited back which is a minus because home game are full of suckers
So funny in $3-6 games back in the day or 1-3nl when a player was up $300-400 and they wanted to leave, they'd always make the dinner reservation excuse... They'd start by asking if anybody ever ate there... then nonchalantly throw in there reservation time... in like 50 minutes.
I think people are confusing home games and casino games. If you have the nuts and win a big pot in a casino, you have all the rights to cash out. Home games are different since you usually play against the people you know, friends or pals you hang out with, the point of the game is to have fun and play the game, not to rip your friends and dry them to the bone, it ain’t a casino with random people. Usually when you play and want to leave you announce it 45/30min before you actually leave. Taking a big pot straight away and going home will definitely make the people around the table displeased with you plus you might be excluded from the friends group board games.✌🏻
Guy at our home game busted 2 players right at the start and they left.. he then said "since I didn't take money from anyone still here I'm going to leave". And the game broke 1 hour in.. was so mad.
Easy solution: make it a rule that players must announce to the table 30 mins before (or an agreed upon amount of time) that they are planning on leaving.
my "friends" I used to play with used to get so mad when id win 3-700 and walk from the night lol. They didnt understand how BAD they were, it didnt matter. Theyd get so mad Id win 200$ with 7 high; they didnt understand I was playing them like a fiddle. We had 2-5$ blinds; theyd genuinely throwme hundred of dollars out of angst and then get mad when I cashed out.
It's totally fine to do this at a casino, heck, i'd want the bad players to walk away winning so i can play with them again. But this is a home game. If you hit-and-run, you're not getting invited back because it shows you are just interested in money and adds nothing to the table Ironically, you will miss more money this way because home game players are usually worse players than the ones at a casino, and casinos have a rake (a small cut of the pot every hand) so you need to beat the rake as well. Home poker games don't have rake which makes them zero-sum games. Total number of chips on the table increase, but it doesn't leave the table and just get passed around players until everyone cashes out. And the more skilled players are the ones who usually walk away with more chips
It's totally fine if it's at a casino, but this is a home game. If you hit-and-run, you're not getting invited back because it shows you are just interested in money and adds nothing to the table Ironically, you will miss more money this way because home game players are usually worse than the ones at a casino, and there's no rake like a casino, and the rake usually eats up a large portion of people's profit, maybe half of it
Video tips: the man at the table who getting massaged real hard and still trying to have a pokerface. The player who has the whole table full of toys and crap. The player who using electronic or GTO during hand at wsop, even tho the speakers has already told thats prohibited
There's always that moment early on the first time someone bets multiple of the biggest chip, everything goes quiet and you can hear the swords being drawn mentally.
We set time limits. Example we agree to do cash game for an hour and whatever chip stack it is we go home. At the end of the hour. If people want to extend to another hour we can or they leave the game there. Avoids the hit and runs. But last hand before the hour gets a bit wild sometimes
Our home games are like we play for an hour and everyone that lost splits on pizza. If someone wins more than a night in a row usually they join on the split.
house games usually have set rules about cashing out. house games ive been to have these rules: 2 hours of play (unless its an emergency) when you want to cash out you must play at least one more orbit and if you decided you want to get out of the game and want back in you have to come in with the whole amount you cashed out for.
In house games or late night games that don't have players waiting, it's ethical to announce about half hour before you leave, especially if up a good amount. It's ethical because it can break up the game...
If 9 people are invited to play, 6 show up, you decide to start and one player wins a few big hands early and decides to quit it potentially could break the game... especially if another player busts...
@@darylmixan8170 I've always played in a casino where there was usually a waiting list and someone would immediately take the spot of someone who leaves, so maybe that's why my perspective is different.
This is at a home game. With people you should, in theory, be friends with. If this was at a club or casino, that's a different matter. Home games have stakes so people play their A-game, not so you can make bank off the people you know best.
Met somebody that did this.. folded every hand for almost an hour Van he got lucky AA v KK all in preflop.. with ns almost doubles initial buy in. Ben says he has to cash out. Person running the game was P.O. what's pissed off at his friend who brought him to the game who took one of the remaining seats, cash the guy out and said you are never welcome back. If you go to home game or private game and you have a short time window at least make it be known so there's no surprises or bad blood
It should be normalized to let people leave when they win like do you really think you are so important someone should waste all their money that they won.
they shouldn't waste all their money, but leaving as soon as you win shows that you care more about taking your friends' money than actually hanging out with them
At a casino hit-and-runs are more reasonable, but this is a home game. If you hit-and-run, you're not getting invited back because it shows you are just interested in money and adds nothing to the table Ironically, you will miss more money this way because home game players are usually worse than the ones at a casino, and there's no rake like a casino, and the rake usually eats up a large portion of people's profit, up to half of it
What I love about this is that it’s not cheating or really immoral in any real way. But it’s just bad etiquette that FEELS like it should be illegal lol Because optimally, that is the best time to get out. You can’t lost any more money and you walk away huge. But obviously that’s horrible to do to your friends. But it’s fascinating that it’s technically allowed and technically completely fair. But it’s just so horrible
This happened with some friends, they all came a couplenhours late so when I left with all their money at the pre-discussed end time, everyone was raging. Years later and it still comes up.
