I love the idea of a sentimental knit project while doing something that's making memories - I'm absolutely a sentimental kind of person so that's right up my alley! I definitely associate certain knits with certain memories, and now I'm thinking about what kind of project I can cast on to attach to the memories I'll make over the summer!

Absolutely the same! I often associate certain times, places or events with the knits I was making during that time. I knit a tomato red cashmere-merino sweater when I visited my uncle in Spain, and I gifted it to him (yes I'm one of those crazy people who knit woolen sweaters at 30°C heat), and I will always associate it with him and with that wonderful holiday, even though the sweater is not in my possession ☺ but I do come accross the pics I took.

I love memories-knitting projects! I just went to Copenhagen with sock yarn and sock needles... came back with a pair of socks knitted in Copenhagen's best places (water front, coffee shops, etc.)

Great tips! The sunscreen is something I never considered and I will from now on. Thanks Emily

I’d recommend the plastic zipper travel toiletry bags to store projects in! Easy to wipe clean and can be used for other things whilst you’re not travelling.
In terms of projects, I recommend something easy and in the round. Top down camisoles are great but are often worked in small pieces that you combine so a bottom up camisole tends to work better when travelling 😊

Great tips. Your stitch marker necklace is beautiful and so clever 👍🏻. I don’t think I would ever knit in the pool 🤣.
I’ve been doing socks, shawls and squares, so very light weight projects 😉 x

Good tips! Off topic...I'm always on the lookout for the perfect lipstick, and the one you're wearing is a beautiful colour 🥰

I learned some interesting info on the sunscreen. Thank you. I like to bring the plastic project bags made by Black purl magic. Cute and stylish.

As a avid metal needle user I definitely wouldn't switch them for wooden ones in the summer. I prefer metal simply because of my very tight gauge and that kind of needles let me move my stitches more freerly, which for me is very difficult on wood. I get more sore and tired knitting with wood. On top of that heat, sweat and humidity cause our hand to have more moisture on them which cause more friction with held yarn and thus even tighter knitting. For me that would just discourage me from knitting in the summer

Thanks for sharing! Everyone’s choice is 100% valid and your perspective reminds me that mine is limited!

Another waterproof holder in lieu of a plastic bag or zip lock is a makeup bag. Most times they are lined with plastic to protect against damage from spilled cosmetics. So instead of the protection used from the inside out, it would be from the outside in!

I would love to be able to use mineral sunscreen, but, as a black woman, they all make me look like Casper 💀. Does anyone knows of a mineral sunscreen that doesn't leave a white cast please? 🙏🏾

I really respected and valued the sunscreen discussion!! as someone who is all about educating myself on using more nontoxic + natural ingredients, it was so interesting to see someone discuss the ingredients in not only what is safer for us and our skin, but also in relation to our fibers & clothes!! 🤍🌸😌✨
