Adore these old Sansui. Owned most of these. My personal fave is the AU 505. Rounded, warm, detailed, grippy, magic and you get the airyness you mention. But to be honest they're all good.
Well done Michael for another insightful upload i`m having the same kinda deliberations myself over a Sansui 210 and a Sansui 441 i actually think the smaller 210 has the slight edge for a fully listenable experience but do love them both
Depending on ones personal taste I think, the 222 is double the price or the 101 and I just prefer the 101 as mine as little more top end and detail. The 331 is a little sweeter sounding than the 101, but the 101 has just a little more of the following space, aireyness, sparkle, musical, live sounding, authority more valve sounding. But all 3 are great amps/receivers.
high things are coming on very well i am making notes on things i need some white led backing lights over where i am doing the filming some of the things may be well over alot of heads you have a very good point about tape head preamp as it's a big crazy with tape decks fans you can get a tape head preamp that is far better than the akai one's planning this is a long time the amp video was a good one yes you are right cap's don't sound the same all to do with the eq there tape deck line call tascam 30 line there's no need to change the caps there is pots to change the eq on play back on a tascam 38 i can change eq to run at 7 1/2 same as the 32 they use the same pcb card i have a tascam 34 i can see what parts are not the same note tascam 38 can do 30ips how did i find this out i for got a plug the speed one bob
You are getting there step by step, sounds like once you get the led light sorted out you will be up and running. I know there is plenty of people that have are into getting a reel to reel so you videos will be of an interest to many as there good informational videos on UA-cam about reel to reels
I've got the 222 - went noisy last week, costing a bit to get the transistors replaced as we speak. It's a great amp though.

Thanks for the comment, yep the 505 is on my list, sounds like I need to get it sooner than later

Have to say that I prefer the look of the Au 101 Michael, the wood reminds me of my friend Trev's Akai AM- 95 Reference amp.

From the three digit series I am curious about the AU-555 but they would be around 500 used
Me to, but a bit pricy for me and my channel as things are at the moment. but I suppose I might come across one some day
How do these compare with the 331 Mike?

Between the 101 505 and 222 which has most airy sound ?
I have not got the 505, but the 101 has more airy sound than the 222. The sansui 331 receiver would be another great one for an airy sound to
high things are coming on very well i am making notes on things i need some white led backing lights
over where i am doing the filming some of the things may be well over alot of heads you have a very good point about tape head preamp
as it's a big crazy with tape decks fans
you can get a tape head preamp that is far better than the akai one's planning this is a long time the amp video was a good one
yes you are right cap's don't sound the same all to do with the eq there tape deck line call tascam 30 line there's no need to change the caps
there is pots to change the eq on play back on a tascam 38 i can change eq to run at 7 1/2 same as the 32 they use the same pcb card
i have a tascam 34 i can see what parts are not the same note tascam 38 can do 30ips how did i find this out i for got a plug the speed one
