    I am going to try this with hexies, instead of basting them to the papers. I tried glue, but did not feel it held well. But I did not heat it. I will try both methods. Thanks for this idea.

    I watched this video as well as the follow-on ones for hand and machine applique. I didn't hear you say how you "baste" the pieces down. Did you use your Appli-Glue?

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  2 роки тому +1

      Hello judyward03! Yes, she used her Appli-Glue to baste the pieces down.

    I see the diagonal quilting lines on the pillow, I assume this is all done before the applique with some type of batting under it. and do the lines go through the borders and to the edge, or just on the white fabric.

      @FatQuarterShopTX  8 років тому +1

      Yes, we didn't mention that but you can quilt your square prior to appliqueing. You will need to make a quilt sandwich by layering top fabric, batting and muslin or backing fabric. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching!

    I wonder if a person could layer the freezer paper and then use the Go Cutter (or even a Cameo/Sillouette cutter) to make templates for hand appliques? =)..

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  10 років тому

      Yes, that is a good idea. You could cut your templates that way, but you would still have to cut the fabric by hand after you iron the template to the wrong side--so you can add your seam allowance.
      I have done this before and it does save time if you are doing a lot of the same shape. - Jill Finley

    could you also use heat n bond lite with the shapes without doing the folded under part and then sew it ..not sure what that technique would be called besides just regular applique?

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  8 років тому

      +Sydney Doe Sure, that sounds like it would be like raw-edge applique. Although with the Heat N Bond it should fray less.

    Is the freezer paper just like the normal stuff that you would by at a Grocery store or is it something that I would have to buy at a fabric or craft store?

    • @FatQuarterShopTX
      @FatQuarterShopTX  9 років тому +2

      Freezer paper bought at a craft store is the same as freezer paper bought from the grocery store. Thanks for your question!

    whenever I cut my cotton fabric for the shapes there are a lot of yarns coming out . How do I resolve that ?

      Use nice sharp scissors like the Karen Kay Buckley ones here: www.fatquartershop.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=karen+kay+buckley or yellow Omnigrid scisscors here: www.fatquartershop.com/omnigrid-4-needlecraft-scissors

      Hello Amy! Yes, just make sure to use a pressing cloth over the fabric
