Connor this video is much appreciated. It's nice to get the clarity on this important subject. I'm relieved to know that the five existing breeding pairs will not be split up and will be allowed to continue breeding💞. It is a bit sad for those in pick a mate that are forming relationships and will not be able to be with that particular mate and only see them from a distance. Life will go on though and hopefully those intended to each other in PAM readjust easily and without too many psychological impacts. Thanks so much AEF for all you do, we love you😍

We have them here in South West Ohio, and just the other morning on my way to work while passing over the Stillwater River one flew over my car. I imagine it was looking to pick up a bite for breakfast, lol. 🦅 Oh yeah, and both of my cars have the special Bald Eagle license plates to support them, and they aren't cheap.

Wonderful the bald eagle population is so high! Many interesting future plans. Question for AEF - if a pair of PAM eagles were to become bonded before the separation, would they be allowed to breed? I do hope so. Thank you for the great news!

We don't expect it as it is not breeding season just yet, but if they did pair up soon, they would be allowed to stay bonded and have their own enclosure to raise young. 😊

That seems wrong that you would deny females and males the ability to pair up if they wanted to - just like they could in the wild.

Since we haven't seen a new pair out of PAM in a few years, this most likely means we wouldn't see a new pair in the future. (Not impossible, but unlikely) If we were to keep PAM the way it is, we wouldn't be able to introduce any new eagles on to Eagle Mountain Sanctuary as we would be at risk of creating new pairs. This would violate USFWS. So in order to continue to give more injured eagles a permanent and good home, we sadly have to split male and females. There is currently a shortage of homes for permanently injured eagles, so we want to continue to do our best for these birds. Other facilities have done this and not seen any negative repercussions, but we have a great DW cam community and volunteers that will help us monitor any issues that may arise, so we can fix them. 😊
