This is a great song, haven't heard it for a looong time. Good times back then. I really like the way you made this vid with all the old theaters. That takes me back too. Sad to realize that they are all gone, but you did a really unique video that allows us to see and remember. Gets us talking about who we were with, what we saw, how sweet it was. Then we have to face the fact....yeah Life's Different Now. Mahalo Nui for this unique post and for a real visual treat into yesterday!!
I remember hitting kapahulu cue watching a movie in waik's and cruzin da strip. Can't forget tantlus. Oh those were the dayz. Mahalo!
I heard this song at a craft fair today and had no idea who it was or what it was called...but I was blown away. Shazam didn't know the song so I went on an internet hunt with my only descriptions being "hawaiian, 70s, saxaphone, la la la lyrics."
Lo and behold, here I am. And I have found it!!!
So relaxing...
Thanks for posting. I miss the old theaters and buildings in Hawaii, they had so much more character than the theaters and buildings that they are putting up now. So sad... The more things progress, the worst they sometimes get. :(
Thank you SO MUCH!This song and your photos take my mind back to a Hawaii now lost, except for how it remains in the hearts of those of us who were fortunate enough to have grown up on her shores of yesteryear.Hana hou,Hawaii!Mahalo and aloha for the fond memories.........
Kukana
I was 14 years old when I first herd them. I’m 62 now. I’m so thankful and love them. ❤
You remember these movie theaters? Mahalo always ♥
Man it's a pleasure listening to Cecilio and Kapono. Reminds me the days of the sun the parties and the girls awesome concerts and most of all having all the freinds around no doubt C & K , Kalapana to name just a couple of groups just brings back some mean memories. Aloha C and K and Mahalo for the years of great music:)
This song makes me feel emotional and crying in tears happily.

Great video and song - I love playing/singing this on my guitar. Brings back a lot of memories, these theaters. I remember seeing "Scarface" at Waikiki 3, "ET" and "Star Wars" at Waikiki's 1 and 2. "Grease" at Kuhio and a lot of Bruce Lee/Godzilla movies at the smaller theaters. Such a shame to see such landmarks disappear. Life goes on so says the song, the memoirs remind me to live it.
We love back in the days awake he Shel
What a shame. Such beautiful architechture lost. I remember going to these as a kid and knew then I was enjoying the beauty of the building and furnishings as much as the movie. Not to mention the kindness and professionality of those who worked there. Thanks for sharing although I wish it hadn't happened.
merci pour cette chanson, je ne l'avais jamais entendu et je suis une fan de cecilio et kapono merci beaucoup!!! mahalo

Mahalo for your effort and energy to preserve memories of our home. Mahalo
I remember going to see Kikaida 3D at the old Queen Theater (daytime shows before the RHPS) and Star Wars at the Cinerama. Can today's kids even imagine a theater line wrapping the block 4 times a year after the movie first released?
AMEN Kukana so very true. I wish I could go back so badly
Good song ,good beat ,good memorys
How come it not on iTunes? Anyone know
Oh the memories.
cool; good job man!
I'm only 30, but I remember going to a lot of these theatres as a kid shortly before they closed. I frequented the Waikiki 3 and Varsity while attending UH Manoa knowing they had a short while to live.
Life's truly different now, and these video made me tear up.

Mahalo Brah, so sad. My first date with my wife 30 years ago..Pearlridge, Aiea
CHEE!!! HAWAIIAN 💥🔥✊
Life different now before was better for real
I say it is progress, technology and land value on some areas. The thing is though with new buildings and removal of old features like the organ player at Waikiki 3 theater. The movie going experience lacks originality, uniqueness and a memorable night on a Saturday. New theaters is just going to see a film on a big screen with great sound and over priced food and drinks.
Yes, it is quite depressing to see all these theaters gone. Is it progress or destruction of our history and culture?
This song...
great song, lyrics on point.
Sad how hawaii changed.thanks 2 rich transplants
I am the only 2020 commenter.
