Refuge is a song asking about who do you lean on after you have a long n tiring day. The people talking in the middle of the performance are talking about things that they look forward to after their day ends. People said different answers like looking forward to seeing family, friends, n their pets. Love to see that you are experiencing their talent ❤
Thank you for the comment and info. That is really nice to know the context. I think I would have to answer my new found followers. The amount of support I have gotten from everyone here has been so amazing. I can only imagine how Mamamoo and other groups feel about their fandoms.
Refuge hits so ard when you've been watching them for such a long time and had been feeling really sad and frustrated about moonbyul not having any singing line despite having such a beautiful voice and she keeps saying that she wants to sing more ...
Mamamoo is the only group that I've ever known , that can consistently trigger emotions within me. I've seen Luther Vandross and he had the same effect. But Mamamoo is so unique in which they can trigger those emotions, but in a language I do not understand. And that echoes GREATNESS. I think Moonbyul was the best today. How could you ever deny this woman's voice and tell her not to sing. I felt a voice that was locked away for many years, telling everybody, she can hit all the notes, high/ low, just as good as her counterparts and I so felt those emotions through that song. Kudos to Moonbyul
Thank you for the comment! Yes, there are a few other groups that trigger emotions but only Mamamoo has triggered almost all of them. Moonbyul was amazing in Refuge.
I remember i cried when Moonbyul dropped Trying to Say Goodbye Cover, cried again when she dropped the official remake of that song and cried again when i watch her Refuge stage. I feel the pain through Absence, the longing through In My room and Ddu Ddu Ddu, the regrets through For Me. That’s how Moonbyul touch my heart.
I watched Moonbyul Refuge for the first time when I was trying to keep myself awake at 2am because I need to look after my mom - who was in the hospital (she suddenly passed out that afternoon). You don’t know how hard this song hit me that night (I cried for about 3 hours non stop). I kinda wish that you’ve watched the version with subtitle on google cause the lyrics, the little video all have such deep meaning and Moonbyul actually made many of the judges and her competitors cry on the spot with that performance. To me the most important and beautiful about music is the power of expressing emotions. And Moonbyul became my favorite singer ever since. The way she express her emotion through her voice is unmatched.
Thank you for the comment! I hope your mom is doing better. I can definitely understand in that situation how the song, her performance, and its meaning would most certainly affect you. I mentioned in a reply to another comment that her tone, delivery, and body language changed after the segment with the stories from the MooMoos. She made the song personal to herself, and that made it relatable to anyone, and her delivery was so full of emotion that it didn't matter if I could understand it, I was so moved by emotion the tears just came and my heart broke.
There is a lot of hard work to become a kpop singer, they are just different from other girl group, they are the best. 4 queen, 4 vocal, 4 rapper, 4 performer, 4 dancer, 4 songwriter and 4 comedian
I have seen behind the scenes of other groups and the hard work that is put in. I can only imagine how much harder Mamamoo has worked to try to prove themselves.
I'm mid aged S.korean and i grew up with Dolly Parton songs and movies. I had zero interest of idols as most of middle ages in S Korean. But MMM is very first idol i stand. So I mat you. 😄 They have real talent bravery healthy thoughts and warm hearts.
Thank you for the comment! Dolly is amazing. She is one of the few country artists that I actually like and that has a lot to do with her story and personality as well as talent. It is kind of similar to Mamamoo's story.
They are so very worth it. If I was not reacting I would been binging everything I could watch when I wasn't sleeping or working, lol. I love them that much.
I watched until the end. Thank you for your reaction. You should definitely keep doing long videos. People can just skip foward if it’s too long for them. As for the rappers, the only one that comes close to moonbyul is soyeon from gidle. She also writes her own raps, and her flow is amazing too. There’s a difference between rappers(moonbyul, soyeon)and people who can rap(Jennie,Lisa). Main difference being that soyeon and moonbyul write their verses.
Thank you for the comment! Today's videos are pretty long, lol. I have only recently got a brief look into Soyeon's rapping with my latest reaction to G-Idle, but I will definitely take a closer look at her in the future.
On "i'm a b" i'm surprised nobody has brought up the wordplay she put into the song (at least partially to get past the broadcast censoring) since she's such a huge fan of wordplay in her songs. She is using a korean word that translates to 'light' that just happens to sound almost exactly like the english word 'bitch'. Others have said why she meant the latter, already, both it being a type of armor and her feeling like she's neglected friends and family because of how busy she is because of her career, but there is also that extra layer of her saying "i am a light", even if you just take that at the surface level about radio/air play censorship... but this is hwasa we're talking about. Nothing is left just at the surface level
To answer your question I enjoy your videos because of their length! It's good to finally see someone reacting not superficially but engage with the music and who will spend time to properly get to know the artist. Keep up the good work!
Thank you for the comment! I am not a short winded person lol. I like to explain what I hear, and even more so when I hear something that truly amazes me.
I cried hearing it for first time and teared more when hardest times hit me. Their songs are so much relatable. Their voices really will melt our hearts.
Hwasa rap in the song “sleep in the car”. Wheein rap in the mask singer competition show. Solar rap in honey song. Very emotional song from wheein will be “Anymore” and “shadow” from the yellow OST. “Butterfly” ft G soul from Redd album. Goodbye MV have a twist of drama. And how to tempt hwasa, by giving her food (hwasa just like to eat), whatever she eat in TV will be sold out. What the world need the most is respect each others, and be kind to each other, respect the difference that everyone have ❤. I believe mamamoo can touches the heartstrings whenever they sing.
I second this rap info! Please check out those 3 songs. Mamamoo members are ALL ACES! Each of them can do it all on stage and behind the scenes. They are true artists, and the word "Legendary" definitely applies to them.
Oh, and solar and wheein have a sort of joke rap duo that they have done a few times, which has even gotten a guide about it (also a joke) released. Mc ddukddak, or mc dduk and mc ddak
Of course watch all, sincere comments by you which I am touch and appreciate it, anyway another video most people react to is MMMTV ep 6 where you can see how active and noisy they were when they inside a car, journey back from festival performance
As for duration (now that at end of this video), i know in general moos tend to love long videos... like an hour+ seems normal, esp with mamamoo concerts often going upwards of 4 hours. I dunno how that pans out demographically, of course, but i often see people saying such. And i personally like longer videos, myself, even if i do sometimes just put them on in the background to listen to while doing stuff, so they don't always get my full attention (all of yours i've watched have gotten full attention, thusfar)
Thank you! I am glad you have enjoyed my videos and liked them enough to get the full attention. Don't worry I won't be offended if I do become background entertainment.
Jessi is an amazing artist (she is also from the states, grew up in jersey, so definitely brings quite a different feel to things that often intimidates artists that grew up in korea). She is alsy really close with hwasa because of a project group the two did together (they also shared a stage at an award show). Jessi used to host an interview show, called showterview, and she wound up interviewing solar (twice) and hwasa on it. Definitely worth checking those out once you get into her music
I actually like the Dingo Music performance video better than the MV. (albeit the MV is good as well) To me thats the video to watch if you want to see her dance more to the song.
@@maxwestin1681 yes i like the vids where you can see more of her dance better. I just don't like rbvv so I love that they had to spend more than they usually do for watercolor mv and wheein still decided not to renew her contract.
I went to the Atlanta concert. Solar specifically said that they will be back and to wait for them, so I suspect that she knows more about Wheein's plans than we do.
I really like how raw are your comments. You're a sweet person and I enjoy following you into the mamamoo rabbit hole. I wish you well here from Brazil
Thank you for the comment and compliment! I am glad to have you along for my journey listening and learning about Mamamoo. I will always try to be honest but kind in my reactions. These ladies worked so hard to get where they are, and I love and respect them for their sacrifice to be able to share their gift with us.
It’s funny you mention Hwasa’s voice being so distinctive that you could immediately pick it up. Hwasa appeared on a show called Hidden Singer where she sings her songs with impersonators behind doors and the audience has to pick the true Hwasa (the video on YT is titled something like “Hwasa has an unrivaled voice! Can you tell her apart?”). I think it’d be a really fun video to watch on your own time! Thanks for another great reaction! Ps. I watch your vids to the end lol
Thank you for the comment! I will definitely check it out. I am curious if my ear can actually do it as well as I would like to think I can. Thank you for watching to the end. I greatly appreciate that. I do talk a lot, and especially with Hwa Sa's 'I'm a B', there was so much I had to watch it twice. I actually watched it 5 more times after I was done recording and a 6th when editing, lol.
@@seattleinsomnia for me personally, I found it fairly easy to pick out her voice because beyond technical things like singing technique, there's just something about her voice that's really different and truly unique...or maybe i just listen to too much Mamamoo and have memorized all the musical choices they like to make when performing their songs, haha. And I get it, you can't just watch Mamamoo once or twice! Hwasa definitely gives her viewers a lot to think about and digest when viewing her art.
@@jeaux6038 I have a feeling I would be able to pick her out. You can't just watch anything from these ladies just once or twice, there is so much going on and it is so well done. Yes Hwa Sa produces pure art.
If it helps, "blue bird" is an ost song, so isn't included in any of their/her albums (solar and wheein both have numerous ost songs, moonbyul has a few and hwasa has one. They also have multiple as a group)
I can understand needing to go into survival more and dealing with everything she's been through and not doing anything to deserve it but display her amazing gifts.
Too bad you're allergic to country but on the bright side you won't have to listen to Mamamoo doing another country song. The closest they come is Destiny but that's a mix of spaghetti western OST with future trap. As you probably know Second World was a singing competition between 8 very talented girl group rappers. I had no idea who would come out on top going into it but Moonbyul won in a landslide. It was so one-sided that the show clearly rigged the third round and had the judges give Moonbyul a zero despite the audience voting her on top in that round as in every other round. I don't get into rankings but Moonbyul certainly stands out among gg rappers, not only for the quality of what she delivers but also because she seems to be able to rap over any beat and any style of music and writes her own rap verses and as you know she has the most songwriting credits of any female idol. Lots of moomoos think Wheein was hinting that she was leaving RBW in Watercolor. She loves r&b and it's a big part of her solo work in various styles such as the New Jack Swing of Watercolor. I think Wheein is also commenting on how we use our imagination - note the dancer with the sign on her chest reading "anime titties" at about 1:13. I take it we're meant to contrast the harmful and degrading objectification of women in some anime with the animated section towards the end where she dives into the ocean of her imagination and encounters the radiance of the peacock. I agree with your interpretation of the beginning of I'm a B. She's wearing the dress she wore at the end of the Maria MV. I see it as Hwasa being reborn after an alternate life where she commits suicide in Maria. Only Mamamoo would have a groaner of a pun where they're born from a "box." Agree that her dancing is terrific in this MV. Check out the performance video. Imo her dancing in this song is better than Maria but Maria is the one that won her a solo dance award while I'm a B wasn't even nominated, undoubtedly because the song wasn't a hit. You should be able to find all Mamamoo albums and most of their solo stuff on cd, the exception being Wheein's single albums Magnolia and Soar. Magnolia contains Easy and as far as I know it was never commercially available. Soar included a mini version of the painting she did for the Goodbye MV and an easel to display it and my guess is that RBW hasn't re-printed it because of the expense. Fyi, Mamamoo+'s single album Act 1, Scene 1 includes a mini cd rather than a normal cd and Moonbyul's Selfish and 門OON are only available as kinho versions, not cd's.
I have promo cds which are usually given to select radio stations and dj's of Hwasa's Twit, Wheein's Magnolia digipak, Mamamoo's Girl Crush and Wanna Be Myself. It took me a long time to find them and cost me an arm and a leg to buy but worth it for my Mamamoo collection. Still looking to buy Wheein's Soar, the Khino versions of Memory and Moonbyul's Selfish for a reasonable price.
@@djvillan You're way more hard core than I am. The only cool album I have is a signed copy of Maria, which I won randomly by buying it thru Makestar. Sorry I can't help you with Soar. I sent my unopened copy to a reactor who I thought would appreciate it back then. Have fun in Oakland.
You should check out Refund Sisters. They only have one song but it is great. Hwa sa and Jessie are part of this group. I really do not know much about the 2 other members but I I think all the members are from gen 1-3.
@@seattleinsomnia Refund Sisters started as a concept by Lee Hyori, a 1st/2nd gen idol (in her 40s currently). She wanted to gather 4 amazing and powerful ladies from 4 different generations and had chosen Uhm Junghwa (50s), Jessi (30s), and Hwasa (20s) to represent each age group. When they gathered, they found Hwasa to be like a little baby and loves to dote and take care of her like she's their littlest sister. Currently, they have gathered together again, joined by Kim Wansun (50s) and BoA (30s) (Jessi did not join, maybe due to her other commitments?), and has now formed a new group called Dancing Queens on the Road, filmed as a variety show where the 5 of them travels to random parts of SKorea and does guerrilla performances. One of the performances was done in a random zumba festival and the participants were surprised but excited to see them. 🤣🤣🔥🔥
Hopefully Mamamoo hasn't hit your town yet. I went to the NY show. Fastest 2 and half hours of my life, I was hoping for 4hr. But RBW has done a very poor job in promoting their tour. You might be able to see them , tickets are likely to be available even on the day of the event and at a very affordable price.

Those are the ones I lack along with Solar's Emotion. I read somewhere that Easy was included on the Soar CD.
I am going to have to start a savings account just to help fund my Mamamoo collection from the sound of it. Got it. Challenge accepted.
@@kudgeond755 Cheers. Did you send it to Brandon, aka Singh Reacts?
Friday night's Oakland show was great, can't wait to see them in LA later tonight.
your close it said " moomoo" fandom name
You should check out Refund Sisters. They only have one song but it is great. Hwa sa and Jessie are part of this group. I really do not know much about the 2 other members but I I think all the members are from gen 1-3.
Thank you for the comment! Oh wow, that sounds awesome! I will add that to my list!
@@djsgaminglife6397 That's awesome I will have t look that up and watch! Thank you for the info!
might like adrenaline for solar.. as its more of a james bond vibe.
Adrenaline is on my list for the future!
Thank you for the comment! I was gifted a ticket to go see them in Oakland on June 2nd.
Wow! Im so happy that you’ll go to their concert. And just probably be waiting for some insights after like just pure sharing of experience. Your words are inspiring just like mamamoo’s songs. ❤ have fun! Ive experienced mycon manila❤
@mamamoojowaeyo8098 Thank you for the comment! I will definitely have a video talking about my experience and my analysis of their live vocals in person. I may even have some short clips from my phone cam that I will add in.
