Im so confused, he said we delete the investment in chapo figure and ordinary share figure of chapo shares completely in the previous figure...where have the come from again surely
how is the amount of investment in subsidiary and the share capital in the subsi balance sheet different? The parent paid 30,000. meaning the subsi received 30,000. So where does the other 10,000 being parked in subsi book? Dr. Cash 30,000 cr. Share cap 20,000... where is the other 10,000?

It's easier to think about it as Goodwill = purchase price - net assets. Net assets is Assets - Liabilities (which also equals your equity)
