how is the amount of investment in subsidiary and the share capital in the subsi balance sheet different? The parent paid 30,000. meaning the subsi received 30,000. So where does the other 10,000 being parked in subsi book? Dr. Cash 30,000 cr. Share cap 20,000... where is the other 10,000?

It's easier to think about it as Goodwill = purchase price - net assets. Net assets is Assets - Liabilities (which also equals your equity)

Why is your non current asset figure different from that in the consolidated statement of financial position is it an error?
It's not a mistake, you may need to re-watch to understand it properly.
