In celebration of Jennifer Grey’s birthday this week, Christy Lemire (RogerEbert.com, @christylemire), Alonso Duralde (TheWrap, Linoleum Knife, Who Shot Ya?, @aduralde), and Matt Atchity (Moviefone.com, @matchity) review Dirty Dancing, which Matt had never seen! The 1987 classic was directed by Emile Ardolino and starred Patrick Swayze, Jennifer Grey, and Jerry Orbach.

I don't know about everyone else, but as an introvert I'm having the time of my life and I owe it all to UA-cam
Omg can’t believe I found you guys, I kept going to the WTFlick channel and never saw updates so happy to find you guys
Best movie of all time. Saw it at $1 discount movie theater 13 days in a row when it first came out. 3 times on Saturday, 3 times on Sunday. Those were the days you could watch the same movie back to back. Once I recognized my obsession I stopped going so often. On tv, I’ve seen it a lot. Today, I see it now and then and still appreciate every moment.
Stay safe Guys ❤️
I watched the Neflix "movies that made us" on this film and it was enlightening on the struggle to get it made. Really is indie ;)
Dirty Dancing is one of a few films I will drop everything to watch when it comes on tv! It is a guilt-free classic and one of the best films ever!
God I hope you'll never have a baby
Do Saturday Night Fever next!
I wish things would go back 2 normal. I miss your weekly movie reviews.
Love these retro reviews ❤️
In 1987 (pre Dirty Dancing release) women knew Patrick Swayze from the TV miniseries North & South. The two parts of that miniseries which aired in 1985-86 and totaled like 20 hours of prime time television, made him quite familiar to women and girls across the country. His character, Orry Main, was quite sexy in a politically incorrect Southern Civil War era harlequin romance novel kind of way.
Damn it, now I've got She's Like The Wind stuck in my head.
Me too!
Hey guys. Have any of you seen the 1984 movie Electric Dreams?
You guys could review the Sound of Music
How many times do these critics say the word 'like' in describing something or connecting their sentences. LIKE a lot.
can you guys review the remake with abbegail breslan? it was so bad you couldn't look away I need to relive it
Right on Alonso, in identifying the Jewish underpinning throughout. Dirty Dancing, which I always considered to be a Pop version (and a very good one) of another film, Phillip Roth’s dark, insightful, coming of age novel Goodbye Columbus, starring Richard Benjamin, Jack Klugman, and introducing ingenue Ali MacGraw.
Both films capture a cultural moment in post war, upwardly mobile, and oft neurotic Jewish life in America. Time and interest permitting, would love you guys to do a retro review of this film.
Stay Safe and Healthy Y’All

Ooh! I'll check that out. TY
Should review One flew over the cuckoos nest next.
Well I mean now you HAVE to do Ghost.
Shot six episodes in one day...talk about workhorses. Thanks!
Dirty Dancing is a masterclass of pacing and editing. Dialogue not so much but never mind. Time of My Life is a song that was made to try to sound like the 60s, but it didn't work exactly. Mariah Carey's Christmas song is also made to sound like that and personally I never saw it there either.
Matt, will you watch the 2004 sequel or the 2017 remake?
If you guys are doing older movies, might I recommend Spider-Verse? I would love to hear your thoughts on that masterpiece.
They reviewed it already: christylemire.com/what-the-flick-podcast-121418/
Laser Disc oh, thanks.
its a 6.0 at best....but good discussion :)
