I heard a theory or more like a crucial detail that while pokemon technically metamorphose or mature with training and experience, digimon being digital beings are not bound by natural world rules hence literally evolving like several eons in one go like from a cat with holy properties to a literal angel, or a dinosaur through added data growing metallic weapons of mass destruction.
Digimon are literally eldritch beings beyond the natural world there's no competiton in terms of power output. More digimon have the capability of reaching legendary pokemon levels of power.
To be fair, you can put Pokémon in a computer.
Think about it.
Pokémon can be converted into digital information and stored in a computer. They can even be transferred over the internet, canonically.
Pokémon = Digimon confirmed.

That and power scaling lore-wise is completely different in both franchises, a Pokémon from a lower stage of evolution can beat a higher stage Pokémon if it’s trained well enough, but a bunch lower stage evolution Digimon will struggle against a higher stage Digimon due to the difference in power alone.

The later digimon games are a lot better then the current pokemon games. With cyber sleuth and survive, though they are kind of a niche genre.

And now it's the reverse, modern Pokemon games suck and Digimon World games are better than ever.

Warp Digivolving, also known as Super Digivolving, Matrix Digivolution, or Perfect Digivolution is the term for when a Champion Digimon (in this case Gatomon), digivolves to Ultimate (Angewomon). So yeah, it fits.
@@joshuaeddleston No it doesn't, Warp means to bypass stages transitioning stages. Thats why Agumon & Gabumon shouts Warpu Shinka when Digivolving straight from Rookie to Mega and later Cyber Sleuth solidfying it as not exclusive to just Mega evolution. Even the latest Survive game illustrates Warp Shinka as its own.
Matrix, Perfect and Super follow different scenarios to achieving levels. Only Super Digivolution/Chou Shinka is the Standard routine for Champions whereas the others are achieved via nontraditional means
Matrix Digivolution in simplex terms is Evolution that surpasses normal evolution just like Digital Nature Ability (D.N.A.). Their partners always shout Shinka with no prefix when hopping from Rookie to Mega or Champion to Ultimate.
Perfect & Ultimate Digivolution in Savers is just to tell you what stage you'll get. Its all about the Digisoul charge that matters. Regular Charge = Rookie to Adult
Full Charge = Adult to Perfect or Rookie to Perfect which makes it a Warp
Overdrive = Perfect to Ultimate or again Rookie to Ultimate Warp

With how into the project Pringus was I was curious if it'd have a severely different tone kind of a thing, but this blends in so well with the style of the channel while pulling off a fun as hell concept many of us wanna see and the punch line goes with the title to. And yes Holydramon is a multiversal threat. She is part of the Four Great Dragons who are stated by the DB Booklet to rival Qinglongmon from Digimon Adventure and she and Goddramon defeated Milleniumon who was said to be a distortion of the Digital World and at that rate the Digital World would be destroyed. Qinglongmon is part of both the Four Great Dragons and the Four Holy Beasts.
The Holy Beasts uphold the space-time of the entire Digital World an infinite,multi-layered world with servers(worlds/universes/multiverses) in the layers that's beyond the Network (multi-layered, 6 layers/dimensions) and Human World (your conventional infinite multiverse).
They passively keep the Digital World and many other worlds from collapsing into a world of darkness/nothingness and they can even help with the Human World.
EDIT: "Beyond" is used as in the Digital World is in a hierarchical position superior to the Human World and Network like a higher dimension. Digimon Adventure works with Neoplatonic Emanationism aka higher worlds transcending lower worlds. The Digital World is like a higher multiverse while the Human World is like a lower multiverse.
ReDigitize states that the Digital Worlds have a nature that transcends and errodes reality. In the Xros Wars manga its stated that the Digital World is a higher level structure that encompasses the Human World at a higher level and even if the Human World itself would be used as a processing resource it would still be not enough to process the Digital World's data.

The important thing to remember about Digimon when comparing them to Pokémon is that their evolution lines aren’t linear because they’re Digital Monsters comprised of data, so typically a Digimon has evolution lines run horizontal meaning several can reach the same final evolution through another tree from Champion to Ultimate and not directly point A to B.
Digimon evolution forms are: In-Training I > In-Training II (which tend to scale a bit with Pokémon starters) > Rookie (tends to be around a Pokémon’s second evolution in terms of power) > Champion (and above tend to wildly and exponentially jump in power so at this point and past it Pokémon no longer can scale to them typically) > Ultimate (tends to be where Pokémon gods are at power) > Mega > Ultra/Burst (Mega/Ultra/Burst tend to be DBZ levels of power). Most Pokémon second forms would fall under Rookie/just touching Champion Digimon power levels.
Source: Trust me, I Digimon and Pokémon competitively. And Gatomon, used in this clip, should have floored that Mienfoo without evolution because she’s a powerful level Champion form. Digimon Power isn’t based on size like how you can generally think of with normal (not legendaries) Pokémon.

It's not just the massive power gap between most of the monsters in the two franchises. In Digimon, most of the time they'll kill without thinking twice cause they've been fighting for their lives.
Plus in most series when a Digimon dies they're reincarnated as an egg anyways. It's only if you absorb their data like in Tamers do they stay truly dead.
I'd also argue the power gap is a lot less then you'd think. It's the issue that essentially each Digiform has its own level, and Pokemon can't change their level.

And btw the post scene credits having an other Pokemon Trainer who just lost one of his Pokemon's life and has no words about wtf just happened during fighting the Digimon User, and yet somewhat the Digimon User brutally "honest" that is was the Pokemon Trainer's fault. After that when Sobble come out it's Pokeball by itself, the Digimon (what's his name?) somewhat raising his gun toward Sobble despite he never did nothing wrong, and yet the Digimon User just stares toward Sobble rather than control his Digimon 😑
@@stalloneandrew9961 in the anime, that digimon loves to fight, and is really hard to make it stop killing after it begins a battle, they stop this after he evolves into rapidmon, but as gargomon he just goes on a killing spree

As a Pokémon fan and someone who knows close to nothing about Digimon, that trainer's reaction pretty much encapsulates mine. This is hysterical!
Like another commenter said, that's the fun of Digimon. They start from tiny, baby slimes and then ascend to godhood, capable of busting entire planets and the like.
Best of all is you get to influence what they become. Depending on how you raise them, you have entire evolution trees that make no sense whatsoever, and they often intersect. The reaction is completely understandable lmao

Digimon is not aber kicking the asses of other living beings just for fun, but to safe the Digi- and the Humanworld. Digimon has a way deeper, more emotional and frustrating Story. That's why I adore Digimon, as a Series, so much. I enjoyed Pokemon as well, but there's always Ash, resetting himself every Season and plotwise ... it's starting to get frustrating. The Games are good, tho.

Magnamon, the being that literally wins either because it was strong enough, or because it would be a miracle for it to win. (Though there might be the exception of if the fight is really even)
UlforceVeedramon, a being so fast and with such regen, instant deletion doesn't work on it
Proximamon, who rewrites all of reality merely be existing for a blink.
Apocalymon, the trash can of the world, therefore is unable to die for a prolonged period of time.
Alphamon, who can quicksave and -load.
And many more, but those are the ones that came to my mind right away.
Not gonna lie. When I was just a child, Gatomon digivolving into Angewomon made me 100% believe cats can transform into angels. I guess this is because I was so extremely young, that I was not able to separate fiction from reality yet. This is despite my mom telling me a million times that Digimon is not real, even before seeing Gatomon OR Angewomon. I must have been a stubborn child.
It's interesting how different that can be for some.
I was EXTREMELY realistic as a child and for as far back as I can remember I always seperated fantasy from reality. Of course this also means I had a VERY boring childhood and never believed in faries or any of that stuff.
Overall I'm fine with it but it also sometimes feels like I missed out a bit on seeing the world through the lense of a child that thinks fantasy is reality.

Man, looking back on it,
Even the subject matter of Digimon was far more intense as a kid.
Pokemon was always about loving the pokemon world, and Digimon dealt with serious struggles with all the kids. Parents splitting up, being a latchkey kid, being out-of-place and lonely amongst peers, smart kids getting bullied, depression and isolation, fear of death.
Digimon was pretty metal and underappreciated.
It falls apart when you remember they didn't really approach these topics properly, and Pokemon literally did all these.

Those were the heavy focus of the original series and it literally took working through these problems to use their Digimon's strongest forms, what do you mean "didn't approach properly" they were very upfront about them and IMO handled most of them fairly well for an anime I'm not saying it's perfect but given the time period and the content it was incredibly well done.
Sure it's nothing compared to real life experience but it never will be. You cannot take such serious things and put them into a show and have everyone agree that it's a perfect representation. This is because everyone responds to the situation differently and will say stuff like "that's not realistic" because it wasn't how they responded, personally I fully closed off from everyone around me for 5 years due to a bad home life and getting bullied at school dove heavily into alcohol and reading and became severely depressed though I'm mostly better(still obsessed with reading and still drink every once in a while but that is nothing new), but I acknowledge that others become angry and confront people and scream and shout and just overall respond with hate or continue trying to be friendly only to take the hits and get back up again and continue to push forward because accepting whats going on would be worse for their mental health and others throw themselves into work or study, or so many other responses, simply put I don't think your giving Digimon enough credit for what it does.

Specifically the male demographic, and that's not me just saying it, that's been stated since the first ever Digimon that it was a tamagachi for boys.
It's kinda a thing that things directed at boys are a lot more violent and serious everywhere in the world. Like when you hear something is aimed at boys automatically death and life threatening scenarios are the norm and it's not uncommon for things to end with thousands of enemy minions dead in the first 30 minutes.
The reason for this is boys react to the action and death by getting pumped up, it's cool and something exciting, I'm not saying girls can't but generally it's more of a dude thing, it's also the reason men tend to end up more violent and impulsive we are fed violence and constant action in almost everything we watch or buy, even down to simple childrens toys girls got dolls and house sets while guys got guns and dinosaurs.
You get my point it is for children just boys.

Fun fact that non digimon fans may not know due to anime causing misconceptions, digimon don't evolve in a straight line, an agumon for example doesn't always evolve into a greymon, he can also evolve into tyrannomon, and meramon, all depending on how he was raised, this is why the evolutions don't always appear like just an older version of the same digimon, the main characters of the anime are the exception, not the norm, and even the first anime does show that their digimon can evolve into something else when agumon turned into skulkgreymon instead of metal greymon.

The companionship in Digimon felt way more cogent. I always faced a bit of existential horror when switching from Pokemon to Digimon. Digimon recruited humans to help them with their mission and the monsters had a mutual exchange with the humans. They continuously consent to fighting, fight on their own terms, and they communicate with their partners the whole way through.
Pokemon... eh... what? Kids capture animals and make them fight... to be the best trainer? That doesn't sound too mutual.

Another massive difference was the way the shows were presented. I remeber so clearly just how dark and awful the world of Digimon can be, I remember season one where Tai forced Agumon into digivolving beyond his capacity and creating a monster from it that almost killed all of his friends and Agumon himself. Showing how abuse and trauma will manifest and fester into a monster.
Pokémon of course has its dark sides but the show never showed how horrible people can be in the same light Digimon did. They never showed the homesickness preteens and kids will have struggling to survive in a world that they shouldn’t be in. I love both of them tho and they each have their charms, instead of fighting over which one is better I think we should embrace them together
i mean to be fair a lot of pokemon episodes show how cruel trainers can be, like ash's tepig's first trainer literally leaving it to starve thin and the age old example of his charmander, but they definitely weren't shown with the same ideas of "these are literal kids on a journey" and the greater idea of morality the way that digimon does

As a mostly pokemon fan, slowly dipping my feet into digimon, there is one thing I really like so far. Digimon evolve based on how you treat them. Feed them and don't allow them to die in fights too often? You get a literal god on your team! Don't feed and abuse them? Here is a piece of shit, like, literally shit.
And then there's pokemon, which, besides a few exceptions, will evolve and happily grow under you, no matter how you treat them.
Edit: A lot of people mention friendship evolutions and dark pokemon. The second one is specific to a spin-off series though. And friendship evolutions are a very simplified version of what digimon has, with little to no negative consequences for mistreating your 'mon.
Also treat your Digimon very poorly and it will outright murder you when it evolves, tho most games obviously don't have that part.

I enjoy both Pokémon and Digimon. I personally prefer Pokémon, but Digimon are pretty cool. I remember watching Digimon fusion when I was 11 off sick from school, and became obsessed with Digimon for a good while. As much as Digimon is cool, Pokémon has always been something I've been interested in a lot more and has stuck with me throughout the years.
To be fair, very few franchises have had the impact Pokémon has.

To be fair, Mienfoo did pretty well against a Champion rank digimon (most in the anime typically default to Rookie rank). Also, love the Pokedex response to the situation XD
The funny thing about that is that Tailmon is a pretty strong Adult, but at the same time, can be as weak as a Child. The strength of Tailmon comes from the Holy Ring on its tail. If you remove it, it gets weaker, making it perfectly plausible to be at the level of Mienfoo or even weaker.
...Though Tailmon here DID have the Holy Ring, so that Mienfoo is a true hero. It has a bright future ahead if it can fight like that at that level XD. That Mienfoo is STRONK.

In the Manga for example, strong Pokemon can get VERY violent and strong, and size isn't as important as the strength itself of the Pokemon.

So, depending of how strong was that Mienfoo, it makes sense.

This gave a lot of nostalgia pump, thanks to this video i realized how much better the design of the monsters of digimon are compared to pokemon's that are so simplistic.
It's because Digimon come from an incredibly predatory and inhospitable world, where losing any confrontation means instant death. Pokemon evolved naturally alongside humans and fight each other for friendly competition.

The series can't really be compared just because of the power scaling. In Pokémon, the scaling is incremental, and it's still possible to take a first or second evolution form and become a powerhouse all the way to the endgame. In Digimon though, the scaling is exponential. By the endgame of the series, anything lower than ultimate is basically worthless against the threats.
Except for edge cases like Adventure-era Angemon when against an evil Digimon, but even that only goes so far.

I grew up watching both Pokemon and Digimon anime series since I was a little kid back in the mid-2000s. I was a huge fan of both series. I love how the music plays when the explosion came as Gatomon begins to digivolve. It makes me feel too hyped! I love Gatomon so much and I'm happy to see my favourite Digimon appears in this animation alongside Kari!

To be fair, pokemon in the wild has life or death struggles happening all the time like nature in real life, we mostly see pokemon from the competition perspective. But yeah main characters in general is not in danger unless it is a battle against an evil team or encounter with a legendary pokemon.
I think the big difference is that most pokemon are based on like normal habitats or at least believable ones like. Oh yeah a camel that lives near volcanoes. Meanwhile digimon is like it's a Skeleton T rex with canons. Or A walrus THAT SHOOTS MISSILES. And like only legendaries and ultra beasts can even compare to that

Yes!! Basically the difference between pokemon and digimon story: in Digimon you have to save the digiworld, and not doing it might end both the digiworld and the real world where you came from. In Pokémon is just your individual career: becoming the best trainer in a world so safe a 10 year world can travel the world without adults or supervision lol.

Digimon actually earns the longer-than-they-need-to-be-let's-be-honest transformation scenes because of the banging theme that plays, haven't heard that opening rift since my childhood.
This made me remember I used to play an NDS Digimon game back in the day, can't tell if it was a mainline game or a spinoff but it's completely different from Pokemon since it followed the party system that's usually in jrpgs.

Digimon really doesn't have spin-offs. It instead has 2 mainlines: World and Story. World games tend to do whatever the fuck they want, tamagatchi style gameplay to dungeon crawler action games. Story games tend to be more in line with traditional RPGs. The one you played was probably either World DS or Dawn/Dusk (They're only called World games in the west and are actually just called Story in Japan FYI).
But yeah those transformation scenes are definitely only in there to cut production costs :P

Animation budget aside… it would have ended about the same… angewomon is a pretty high ranked Angel digimon, she ain’t standing up to most legendaries, but she’d wreck a mienshao I think.
@@morallygary9098 that's fair although i think a few of the regular Pokemon can claim a few lives, like Gengar for example, with it's great speed and insane sp.atk, but the most notable move I wanted to put out there is Destiny Bond.

The difference for pokemons they fight mostly as a sport.
Digimons fight mainly for survival.
Thats one of few reasons making logicially digimons overpowered on top of the how the power scales up drastically per each evolution.
That's the fun of Digimon. They start at the level of Pokemon, but then they rapidly become casual planet busters at minimum.

Loved it. Only gripes are that Gato -> Angewomon isn't a warp, that's just her next form. Warp Digivolving is when they skip forms and go directly to to ultimate/mega.
Also wish Gatomon would've talked at some point, like talking smack to the pokemon trainer.
IIRC it's cause Tri called evolving to perfect(JP)/Ultimate(EN) warp digivolution
@@AllenAkiyama One of my biggest gripes about the Digimon English dub after Saban got the rights back. They couldn’t be consistent with their terminology or how to pronounce stuff.
Its very glaring when gatomon armor digivolves and it just shows like 6 secs of a very dumb still image of angewomen
@@AllenAkiyama wait, really? i don't watch the dub, but pretty sure they say "chou shinka" (super evo) for champion to ultimate, and "kyuukyoku shinka" (ultimate evolution) for ultimate to mega.

I've been rewatching the dub. The gal voicing Kair, CatProtano, is absolutely spot on. Thought it was the real thing.
I was expected it. Most of the fan-made parodies showing Digimons fighting Pokémons, end with the Digimon winning, something I totally approve. Love the way Angewomon terminates that...thing in one shot.
