What you say is mostly true. Ireland offers a lot of possibilities to young immigrants. During the Celtic tiger this was even easier. The big problem now is for families with children that were paying rent. We were living very well in Ireland until the housing crisis messed up our lives and made us homeless so that we had to leave at some point. Young people or singles can still adapt very well, but people with children need a stable comfortable place to live and parents with a good income able to spend time with them. We are Irish and we had to abandon our own Country. We were working hard but even good salaries were not enough to pay childcare, bills, transport and school. Grocery prices in Ireland are still good but It is extremely difficult at the moment to buy a house.

the only way i see myself owning property again is when my parents die, honestly dont see a way under the current state of the market and rental prices to be owning a place anytime soon without a lottery win. id even be happy with being able to buy a little bit of land i could build on but not much chance on that either as either planning is a no or the price of the land is silly. myself my wife and at the time 3 daughters were within 48 hours of being homeless, we even had nearly a year to try and find somewhere else to live without disrupting the girls school, we had dismissed the place we have lived in now for 6 years as being too small a year before, we had been advised to refuse to move out and such but that honestly wasnt a option as the landlord was a decent person and their was a genuine family issue he needed the house for, a marriage had broke down and the wife and kids had no where... plus small rural community in the mix...
we were litterally getting to the point of getting a caravan mobile/home and parking it on family land, but ended up where we are now, and it wasnt too small, its smaller than what we have had but its still 3 bedroom 2 bathroom, with reasonable sized garden on a side road off the main road through the village.
got asked to leave a property once, the owners who we rented off found out my grandmother had died and thought that i had inherited the money... i didnt and they gave us the sorry you have to move out but you can buy they house at a discount price if you want.....
that house sat empty and neglected for 9 years after that.... we had rented it for 4-5 years before and they had got €48k in rent off us in that time frame and we also improved the property.
so i can pay rent but i dont qualify for a mortgage on land or house , ive got 20 years of paying rent without any breaks. ive never defaulted on a mortgage and i dont have any debts...

Tell this to FFG, SF, the so called 'Greens' party and all those Irrevalent Others .
There are numerous 'IP' - International Protection' People coming into our country. Also an incredibly large amount of 'Ukranians Refugees ' that have decided to make Our Country their home.

@@maideegirl189 Refugees are not a problem for Ireland. Irish is a great democratic nation in Europe. We suffered discrimination, famine and had to fight against the British Empire for freedom. Most Irish are or were emigrants, we are not a nazi nation and we should not become one. We have to condemn hate speeches that brings to simple conclusions. We should keep staying on the good side of history and continue to set a good example to the world. The housing crisis in Ireland but also in Europe was planned by banks and politicians. There are economic and political reasons behind it. Property owners live very well in Ireland at the moment and do not want to lose their status in favor of people like us that were cut off of the system. It's sad but probably the economy prefers young people without children, emigrants and refugees to make profit. New slavery can be the next problem for Ireland.

It sounds cheaper than the cost of living in Southern California, even in the desert part of California.
P.S. I'm originally from Romania but I moved to California as a teenager. I am looking into Master's programs in the EU because getting Master's degree here is unaffordable, even if I choose to live with my mom. Yes Master programs in Ireland are a bit pricier than in other parts of the EU but they are still a fraction of the cost of US ones, even when you add the high cost of living. Your video is very informative. Thank you for making it!

Where I'm from bills cost slightly less than what you described and also renting is sky rocketing, but average wages are just a little over half of Ireland's, therefore all of this looks appealing rather than discouraging❤

In Hungary the wages are 4 times less you pay for water Lidl are roughly same prices.
    Rents are half .
Beer and cigs are way cheaper.
If homeless go live on the street no mother Theresa treatment.

Costs in Ireland are way too high from what I pay here in upstate New York. So glad my ancestors emigrated to America from Ireland many moons ago.

350 euros equals 389 dollars a month for electricity. I pay 65 dollars a month for electricity in the United States for a 1400 square foot house. 6 months of electricity costs in America equals 1 month of electric costs in Ireland. How do people do it?

I have relatives living on Long Island NY they say they are paying $5000 a year in taxes on their home, and their health insurance is like 3 to 4 times as much as they would be paying in Ireland, everything is relative. Energy bills in Ireland went mad since the War in Ukraine started , they slowly coming down as Europe adjusts to living without Russian Gas. The Irish Goverment also gave every household around $850 free electricity in the last year

I live in upstate New York and our property taxes are a lot lower because the assessed value of the houses here are a lot lower than Long Island. I only pay $1600 a year in property taxes. I have Medicare which is $180 dollars per month. I bet Ireland is more expensive than that.@@johnrobdoyle

Ireland has a surplus of jobs, so you will be able to find a job no problem. The problem with our country is housing accommodation, as previously mentioned. There is not enough available housing to meet the needs of the people, which has been a factor in why housing is so expensive here.

Want to reduce your cost of living? Do what millions of us Irish have done since 1840. Leave. And go someplace where there’s a better life to be had. Stop expecting Ireland to become Germany, France, or Britain. It’s NEVER 👎🏾 going to happen.

@The Corky Fella Tiny studio and I aint talking about anything nice. I'm talking like in a bad neighborhood. The cheapest rent is $1200 usd. Now you want a nice neighborhood. it's $1800. Let's say you want to buy a house 3 bedroom and 2 bathroom they go from $400,000-$600,000 with 6% interest. Most of the time, those houses are wreck, and whoever buy them needs to repear them. I'm not gonna get into Healthcare because if you don't have insurance, you are in for a very expensive thing. Traffic will give you an ulcer. There's a bunch of deaths cause by car accidents. Then we have gun problems. And there's not an actual solution to that one because in this country, guns are needed, and at the same time, they aren't. We have a bad school system and that's for the whole U.S. Most people here (I'm talking about the majority) aren't nice. Not to mention all the stupid laws the state and federal government have been implementing. Oh and if you are a college/ university student and your parents make a certain amount of money or have a savings account with $10000 or more you won't get help from the government and you will have to pay tuition by yourself. Tuition is expensive even more if you aren't from the state your university is in.

@The Corky Fella I forgot to mention jobs. Bad 👎 they pay very bad and there's a saying here "In USA you live to work" you will spend most of the time working until you can retire at 65 years old. Here, it's very hard to get hired in a job even if you have all the qualifications they want. Working conditions aren't the best for most. If you are a waitress, most of your salary will come from tips because they pay you less than the minimum wage. Also we have a bunch of homeless but that goes for all the US too.
