  • This seminar is part of the NOAA Southeast and Caribbean Regional Collaboration Team (SECART) 2024 Hurricane Awareness Webinar Series. This webinar series takes place throughout the month of May, where each week SECART features various topics as we prepare for the start of this year’s hurricane season on June 1st.
This is the fourth webinar of the SECART 2024 Hurricane Awareness Webinar Series. The Hurricane Awareness Webinar Series highlights the information and capabilities to help communities prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. Each webinar will explore various topics that are regionally-relevant and will focus on the latest data, tools, and services from NOAA. Natural disasters like hurricanes and tsunamis generate large amounts of marine debris that can impact shorelines and waterways, causing hazards to navigation or pollution concerns. This type of debris is difficult to remove and there are often uncertainties regarding agency roles and responsibilities. NOAA's Marine Debris Program has been working to help improve preparedness to these types of events by producing state and territory-specific response guides that can be used to help address challenges associated with disaster generated marine debris. This fourth webinar is presented by Jessica Conway, Response Specialist with NOAA’s Marine Debris Program.
This webinar was recorded on May 23, 2024.
