- Incredible (over the top?) display of solidarity at the funeral for Mark Dunakin, Ervin Romans, Daniel Sakai and John Hege, the 4 officers killed by Lovell Mixon in Oakland, California. Complete with 21 cannon salute, helicopter fly over, and speeches by Governor Schwarzenegger, Diane Feinstein, and Mayor Ron Dellums.
According to some sources, close to 20,000 people showed up, many of them police officers from around the country. You've never seen so many cops in one place!

High level respect shown for those 4 officers.
I'm a proud US Naval and Army Veteran. Also, I was stationed at the now closed Naval Airstation in Alameda, San Francisco Bay Area. My respects to those fallen officers.

Dude, you couldn't be more right. I am the daughter of a Toronto Police Officer, who has been on the force since 1975 and he has put his life on the line hundreds, if not thousands of times and you want to know something. PIG stands for (Pride Integrity Guts). Just in case you didn't know that. So the next person who calls a cop a PIG you can tell them exactly what it means.
This was amazing! Loved how the other side of traffic stop and showed respect for the falling officers.

what the hell is wrong with all the negative people on here, my God, so much hatred, thought that was gone in the 80"s, definately by the 90's but I see the race thing is still very much alive and strong in the USA. shame on all of you that had negative things to say, your sick and need help. But hey, if your ever being put in harms way and you cant defend yourself, dont call 911, you dont have the right after what you have said about officers here. Remember that.
These are the people who come when you get robbed, or when you need help. Not every cop abuses his/her powers and most of them would risk their lives to save someone. Only a minority of cops give them a bad name and not every one deserves to be treated with hate, especially when they died trying to stop a dangerous killer. If any of who who comment with hate were there at the time, it was the police who would have saved you.
Actually thats not the case. On average in the U.S. Police response times are 10 minutes, so if you needed help 10 minutes would go very quickly and you would have a chance to defend your home, especially with the equipment available in the U.S. Secondly, how often does a killer just appear at your door? Not much. And if it happened you'd be dead as soon as you opened the door and would not have time to call the cops. In a real life situation such as a robber trying to break in, the police would arrive in 10 minutes to help, and if the robber escaped then the cops would try to find as much information as possible from you so they can try to catch him. I do not understand why people hate the police so much when at the end of the day it's law and order that stops mayhem on the streets.
Of course I'm taking sides and so are you. You're obviously very anti police and in no way impartial. Most of the work cops do is good and only a minority of officers cause problems and abuse their powers. Unless you are going to backup your argument with valid points you should keep quiet.

People are the worst enemies of everybody. They save lives, sacrifice everything they have to protect us and instead of showing gratitude people kill them as if they were the bad guys. It is so so sad.
You're only looking at one side of cops. There are too many avoidable killings by cops. The lack of, or wrong training leads to too many mistakes. I don't defend cop killing but I can't ignore the fact that too many people are getting killed by cops in situations that should be resolved differently, just like in other civilized nations.
That's why we DON'T let beat officers carry guns in the u.k. We have specially trained firearms units for that sorta stuff here instead.

It's becoming so hard to have any more sympathy for fallen police officers in Oakland Ca. For too many years they have been shooting black people like Oscar Grant, the innocent as well as the guilty . But every time one of their officers fall in the line of duty we are suppose to weep, cry and honor them. You have to understand these gangsters, thugs criminals and even law abiding citizens are becoming more and more affair of the tactics of some police and are eventually going to shoot back.

Instead of trying to get rid of them, they are working agains't themselves to replace the Police. You kill a Police Officer now a days and it's the death penalty for you so what did you gain, nothing. You took yourself away from your family for what, other than the fact that you wanted revenge. You feel that your way is the best way to get even when you need to understand that there is 750.000 to 850.000 Police officers across the United States. I'm not comparing anything, I'm just pointing out that if merit at work was rewarded on efficiency then Cops would be at the bottom of the list. Is that really so hard to understand? I didn't even get into the crimes that Are Not reported because of the mistrust in the organization. Same mistrust has been a factor in their inefficiency as you helped me point out.
All I hear is blah blah blah. Everybody talks about victims of law enforcement. What about the real victims? The victims of murder, rape, robbery, kidnapping, or assault. We like to talk shit about the police but when the roles are reversed then the story changes.
My condolences to the families for their loss but this is a totally over the top. Shut down a highway for 4 officers? 21 CANNON salute? I'm sorry I didn't even see even 1/4 of that for my 2 friends killed in Iraq and returning to their hometown on the same day. Had a police escort in the back and front escorting the convoy and that was it. Still stopped at red lights still had assholes cutting across the convoy on the highway. Ridiculous.
if one police die everyone cry but all those thousand of soldiers who lost there life defending your freedom i don't hear no one crying for them or helping there families there are thousands of vets out there homeless and no one gives a shit u want freedom but u dont want to pay the price for it if it wasn't for the military u wouldn't have freedom to call the police i have never seen them block of a road for all those soldiers that died but they can close of a highway for four i feel bad for there families but dont do for one if u can't do it for all

These men were just doing there duties. they were loving husbands, Fathers,sons. RIP.
if I was a legit cop I'd be pissed if they let another cop off in 11 months for killing an unarmed victim. that would be a slap in the face to me (as a good cop) not to mention a concern for my safety but since no "good" cop stands up against the human right violations of the "bad" ones that argument is invalid. If they stick together then its just justice served.

They were hidden on planes, under flags, and quietly interned without so much as a nod from someone who puts on his uniform to SERVE AND PROTECT. Not intimidate and name call like a 12 year old. here is a question for all you who hate cops and say rude stuff about them who do you call when you need help? i know that as soon as you feel like your life is in danger or something happens to your family you are the first to say call the police. yes there are some bad cops out there but not all of them.
Lets remember these officers for the lives that they live and not the agony of their deaths. It doesn't matter what people may say or think..these are the real heroes of our time and we need to understand and respect that. Our streets and neighborhoods are much more safer because of these officers putting their lives on the line for us each and everyday. So that makes me a scum bag right? A lot of my disregard for the Police comes from watching videos on youtube. The camera works both ways. Maybe it's the law that needs to change not the the people.

@tehkoalainsurgency First off, please post your "facts" that you claim. Second, not solving crimes doesn't mean they're not doing their job. It means they don't have enough evidence. Simply having too little information doesn't mean anything. Besides, if there wasn't so much crime or criminals there wouldn't be so many cases to solve.

@TheFutureOfficer No, they shouldn't be awful. While I agree with you that police DO help make the world better, I have to disagree on why people dislike such a video. Some people have had read about or have had experienced with bad police officers. It is a shame that out gvt is quite unfair when it comes to police prosecution. Until it is fair that police officers be prosecuted equally like all citizens of the U.S, then there will be less hatred for the police.
