In total AWE!!! Although I know every member is not on the field, I don't understand or know why a high school band have as many members as Allen does, but for your size you are very clean and precise. I can only imagine the amount of money and resources it takes to run a program of this size. 700+??? Wow!
This is the first time I have actually heard clarinets and flutes on the field... including when I marched clarinet and was constantly next to other woodwinds in formations. Oh my God. The second movement tho. Oh my God.
Nothing against Allen HS Band, but they NEVER make it to the State Marching Band Contest which is the litmus test for band quality. So, all of you shouting about how good this is, just remember that there are at least 30 or 40 bands out theree that are better than Allen. I must commend the excitement and participation at this high school. It's really goodto see this many kids involved in a meaningful activity that can last a life time.
there is no reason a band this size should sound like this i mean its a good sound but i could be a lot better i can hear individuals stick out because the band sounds weak compared to them there are some collage bands with half as many people in they're band and sound like a frate train with amazing balance and blend heck ive even heard high schools bands with 90+ people in it have this much power and sound
@jongoeyong yes and no. we do a little bit of both. currently we have the freshmen on the field at the beginning of halftime to play for the drill team and then they leave for the upperclassmen to march the uil show. but now that uil competitions are over, we are learning a new marching show that will include the freshmen so that they can march at halftime too.
You're absolutely correct, there are only about 450 kids on the field here. There are, however, 750 kids in the band proper and 3300 kids in the High School. I believe all the kids attend the football games, though I could be wrong (I graduated 2010-2011 school year)
Wow, we really were a bunch of zombies in Allen. I'll be excited to see who was successful and who were not, at our class reuinions We had all the tools, clues, and help. What did most of you do with it...time is a cruel mistress, and we'll see.
Honestly this band is a perfect example of size not being everything in marching band I mean Marcus who just won 5A has like 300 members and they are actually a lot louder than Allen as well as cleaner and better-sounding.
Same with sound, but especially on guard the more the merrier, is not always the way to go, sometimes cuts bees to be made and more dedication should be brought into the guard.
AHS Class of 2005- Smaller, Better, Louder, and FAMILIAR WITH SPACING (looking at you, low brass!), yet these kids are still getting after it like nobody's business!

"Everything's bigger in Texas"

1:53 always my favorite part. Sounds a lot better when you're in the stands. Sounds even better when you are the one on the feild
I agree, but the standing ovation we received when we did the show at the Plano West game was amazing.
Guard needs some timing work, on some parts.. for sure.

It would be interesting if they fielded a Varsity, Non-Varsity, and a Sub Non-Varsity marching bands for marching contest.

they mean 450 are on the field of the 750 that are in the band. At the football games, they will get all 750 kids on the field at the same time.
i think they mean 450 of the 750 kids in the actual high school are in the marching band. theres no way theres 750 people on the field here
@jelo895 That's gonna be an incredible sight. It's too bad I'm over in Alabama, but y'all are loud enough for me to hear it from my house.
We make finals in marching every year. Our region is harder than state, just so happens you can't be perfect with an 850 member band.
@jongoeyong it got to be too many people. they couldnt physically fit everyone on the field for a contest show.
How many times can you put the Eye of Horus on one field. Either way Allen ISD goes all out.
@jelo895 Well, I guess that's understandable. Do y'all still march 750 at games though?
the flying clock! Loved that set. Could barely breath by then, but I still loved it.
Only 450? That still puts them at over two and a half times the size of a drum corps!
thtas so crazy how you can over 700 bnad members in a MARCHING BAND thats just insane
@kyleb121 thats just sophomores, juniors, and seniors. freshmen arent even out there!
@kyleb121 thats only 450 outta the 750 they have
The drill writer must have one heck of a time writing their drill LOL
Everything is much bigger in Texas including the new Allen Stadium
I think Marcus can put out more sound and better. A lot better
My band used to be bigger now we only have 47 people :( I'm 47
Same.. last year's show was a lot better than this year's IMO.
300 of them must have gone to the hospital from collisions!
Timing is a little off, but the intonation is excellent.
My high schools band only has 147 or something like that
I love this band, but how come the freshmen didnt march?
Wow, my marching band only has 50 something people lol
Just think if 200 more kids were interested in band.
I didn't even think people would let a band that size exist
@bandheadguy99 i9 heard they won a grammy this year
I wanna see their band hall!!!!! DDDDAAAYYYUUMM
What marching contest? They just owned everyone.
uhhmm,i love the upper classmen in my bandd
@jelo895 i cant wait to learn the new show(:
Cause we can't fit them onto the field, LOL
Love the old school rock music choices.
4:07 was the best part
AWWWWWWWWWWW YEEEEEEEAAAAA TUBAS!
We are playin y'all this saturday! :D
Too bad I was a Fish last year :'(
Though his real name is Fortenberry
@nibletrs this one has 750 roughly
Did they say David Thornberry? :D
Holy shit...this is amazing...
the old uniforms Were Better.
That is one big band class!!
5A????
that is awesome :)
Oh my god O.O
Mi

Why did only 450 of the 750 members go
Galactic Bleachman the school has 750 but only 450 are in band
Wow.
