I actually still play runescape because of you. I joined your clan, and it made osrs fun again. Being involved in the videos makes it so much fun. I've been playing runescape as a single player for too long, I almost forgot it's an MMO. You and grass punks makes it fun again (:
Im like 7 seconds it but my answer to the title question is pretty simple for me: Progress milestones.
It just feels really good seeing that almost everything you do in game contributes to some sort of progress, wheter is stats, achievements, farming certain activities for drops, clue scrolls etc. It can be a ballbusting grindhouse ass point and click game most of yhe time, but damn if progress doesn't make you feel good.
And therein lies the problem with modern gaming.
I started playing at the end of last year after finding your videos, I'd always been interested in the game but everyone had shown it as a big life consuming grind, which had put me off. I might not be the most efficient player, but I'm having fun thanks to you and the community you've formed, I hope you have an amazing day.

I still play runescape because it's familiar. It's comforting, to me, to sit down and play the exact same account, with the exact same details, with the exact same history, as the account I first created back in 2004. It's warm, even if it's different (because I play RS3), because I got to *watch* the game progress. I was there, through each milestone. It's a part of me, genuinely, as are all the friends on my friends list who haven't logged in in a decade. I remember each of them, and I remember the fondness of fighting the king scorpion to help people mine ore in falador mine without getting killed.
Now I feel bad… because everyone is saying “it’s the friends you meet…” but I never made any friends when I played rs… mostly because I rarely talked to anyone and just grinded
Ever since first logging into classic in 4th grade on dialup internet at my friends house, runescape has been the only game my heart knows. Something about numbers going up and getting better never gets old fam.
I don't play anymore but..... Relapse is always a possibility. The social aspect was always great when I jumped between clans. Point and click is a pretty relaxed style of play. I did get a lot of high levels on a few accounts so completing goals was always pretty addictive. Made a few snowflake accounts. Also, this is one of those games where I can multi-task. I can play this and watch tv or listen to a podcast and i know I won't be missing much if I tune out of one or the other.
@@TheDragonLegacy to be fair the bots are a never ending fight. Any updates only set the bots back, we will never be rid of them forever. Scripts and other programs evolve with each ban wave. Jagex does ban bots, the botters just have a lot of time on there hand and make more.

Hello. I literally was just telling my homies today that the reason I started playing OSRS when we were kids was to spite the kids that tried to keep me from knowing about OSRS so I wouldn't play with them. Are you sure we aren't soulmates...?

I made friends on Runescape... many years ago. They're no longer my friends, and every time I play these days I never make new friends. I just play by myself talking to no one. My anxiety and depression have gotten worse over the years. And yes, I do hate my life. I like making friends, I just don't make them. I'm in my early 30's and I have too much anxiety to talk to people.

I played when I was a kid and never really accomplished anything now I’m back just playing and recollecting
I like playing Runescape because it's a game where there's clearly defined long term accomplishments like quests, 99s, collection log etc, but there's no one way to get there. You set the rules to how you want to progress, and I think the surge of content restricted accounts shows how far those rules can take you.
Runescape has been such a large part of my life and has gotten me through tough times that it's hard to get off. This game is a place for me to get away from real life and enjoy the grind with the friends I have made along the way. Runescape will always have a special place in my heart.
not many things in life have a clear sense of progression, it's difficult to find out what truly matters. you can set goals, build towards your dreams, build relationships. but how can you measure if that is progress? more money? more happines? more free time? no, definitely not applicable. runescape however figured it out. after specific amounts of numbers you get fireworks and a woodcutting level, which stays forever. i've never even cut wood in real life, let alone gotten fireworks for it
I do enjoy playing, makes it more enjoyable being in a cc like yours, very wholesome and feel encouraged on grinds lol.

I'm 2 years late but i got into the game because of two friends who were really passionate about it and wanted to share it with me - so, i guess it's the people :)
When I was working 16 hrs a day the only repreive I'd have was playing a 1 hour runescape music playlist on the hour commute to work in some hq headphones.
I would imagine myself as a runescape character as I grinded through the hours.
I would imagine myself playing the game at times. It helped get me through those times. Haven't played in a while but it will always be a comfort zone I can go back to.
Recently decided to take an extended hiatus. I came to the realisation that OSRS, now that for non-creators the social side is dead. Most of us only play for a feeling of achievement. Wouldn't we all rather have fun instead of grinding?
I try to tell ppl the same thing , are you even having fun doing "maximum efficiency" for every little aspect of the game, just relax and have fun it's just a game

I just got back from a pretty decent break from this game. Just started back up about 2 weeks ago and I'm loving it again. So much new content in the game and just stuff to do in general. Love it
I use to play back in 2010 and really wanna come back but it is a struggle when I don't have anyone to play with. The music,the simple style and easy to use old school style. I did re-download it on my pc just needa get back into it

I think I stopped trying to make new friends on RS but I have found other dorks IRL who I've then played RS with.
I feel like RuneScape is 50% rehabilitation/recontextualization now that I'm not depressed and 50% ADHD hyper-fixation on arbitrary goals (which is what leagues is for me).
I don’t interact with anyone in game or have any friends who play but I just love getting on here and there and accomplishing something even if it’s a level goal or a grind for an item it gives me a lot of satisfaction completing a goal and bettering my account

real story , i came across a guy from USA in india with his family then and still today , became great friends with him and his kid as both of them would play the same account a 17yr friend ship

I promised myself as I kid I would max. My highest stat was like 40. Came back towards the end of rs2 and got a few 99s but the account moved to 3 and I gave up.
Then I found out about mobile at the start of the year and making pretty good progress. That and the avoidance of reality 😅

I find the game being nostalgic. I recently made a HCIM in RS3 and its been almost like a new game experience. I started playing over 15 years ago, and going through the new additions brand new has been fun for me. Why do I keep doing it? Idk for the experience

i still play because for me, its still exciting. ive always been a mid level player but every drop or achievement brings me happiness. for example while watching this, i got a smouldering stone from hellhounds, its exciting

Why do I still play RuneScape? Because who doesn't enjoy six months of daily grinding the same skills for hours at a time. Literally working your butt off to make 100,000 cooked curry for weeks on end just to earn some gold. Then when you finally buy that fancy justicar set and some high tier equipment, you get skull tricked an hour later and loose it all. That's why I play RuneScape. Because those pr*ckless scammers and bot farmers depend on me. They need me to play my absolute hardest just so they can piss on my day and take the stuff I worked hard for. Or, if the scammers are feeling motivated they might just hack my account and turn it into a bot to further ruin the game for me.

I don’t have any friends that play RS. I play by myself skilling all the time, it’s honestly the best game out right now to me lol. I left the game 11 years ago to focus on console gaming but the last year has sucked. Cod was shit this year; battlefield was a major let down. I play some switch. But I still love RuneScape it’s the game I loved as a kid and live even more now,especially now that I’m an adult and know what I’m doing.

i played runescape for years with my friends and then slowly they all left one by one and after everyone else quit i played for a bit but was lonely and quit. its for sure not the dog shit game that kept me there it was the people.

I started playing today and tried drop trading 11m for a bond from one account to my main I wanted to play on and found out it can't be done and lost 11m to the nether regions, insta logged and see you in 8 years.
This game is cursed and traps your soul the first few days you play. You'll never stop playing your soul is forever trapped from the cursed spell that runescape casted on to you. Or the game is just still going after all those years and people are so confused that they decide to keep on playing to see what happens next.
I started playing again recently, but got hacked last week. I have no idea how they hacked me...I didn't have 2 step authenticator, but somehow they changed the email associated with my account. How is that even possible?
