Okay Doug so here I am excited to hear about how you got started and you too. And you start off by saying that your first job out of college was working for Porsche North America and part of the perks you had four 9/11s to drive around . So as much as I want to hear about your internet story I am 100 times more fascinated by how your first job was in Porsche North America thank you

The first video you did on new Ford GT is what brought me to your channel. It was shared through a Facebook page and I watched all of it then promptly came to the channel and watched every video from before, and have watched every video since. Thank you for all the years of content and entertainment!
Still my favourite car UA-camr by a long way. I always trust Doug’s opinions, he seems like an honest genuinely nice guy and I will continue to watch his content as long as he keeps being himself. Edit: I wonder which was the first video he said “Thissssss” at the beginning
Love it! I don't remember which of your videos I saw first, but I do remember thinking here's another goofy car guy like me who notices all the little details and oddities in cars (quirks and features sounds more hip). There is a tremendous amount of curiosity and joy in stuff like this, and it often adds up to make the character of a car. It's so perfect for a video review. And you'll have material for decades to come. Thanks and keep on living the dream!
The moral to this: when you’re young and “unburdened” - give stuff a shot, hustle, explore your passions a little (while having a back-up plan). We all have our entire life to settle down and bury ourselves in debt/responsibilities .
The main thing I love about this channel is that Doug seems to really enjoy doing this and doesn’t take himself too seriously. Also, he takes us on tours of the more interesting cars out there (especially the interiors) that otherwise I would never see. Doug DeMuro and Jay Leno’s Garage UA-cam channels are some of my favorite.
I recently started writing and posting articles - mainly on motorcycles, MotoGP, WSBK; but some odd others as well - and this right here gives me that extra bit of hope that it'll evolve into something bigger. Love your content!
Absolutely love Doug's facial expression mentioning the Qube. To be honest, I completely forgot about that one. Looks like a forcefully futuristic car made of plastic someone shoved in the microwave for 30 seconds and it began to melt...
It was great hearing you get emotional at the end - it just underscores that you were born to do this. I try to never miss a show Doug, I'm a true fan.

Incredible story. From working for porche with a demo 911, to writing to videos as companion pieces. Very cool, inspiring story. Thank you for sharing and thank goodness that incredible 911 didn't keep you stuck in 1 place. Thank you doe sharing all this positivity.
What you discovered in the middle of 2015 was that UA-cam had so changed the paradigm that, by then, good video skills were better than great writing skills, ceteris paribus. That your personality showed better on video than in the written word.
That was true much earlier with TV vs Newspapers. What really changed was the ease of making and (especially) editing videos. We had a camcorder back in the 1990s but to do any serious editing you needed resources approaching that of a TV station.
I’ve been following Doug for years it’s so cool to hear him give a S/O to my home state Minnesota! Keep on, keeping on Doug you’re an inspiration to the young 20 something year olds who want to take risks and you’ve shown us that it’s ok to roll the dice!

Also some them appear to be missing, is there a place where we can find them and read them again? Thanks for the years of entertainment!!
I believe he said that he thinks the UA-cam algorithm changed and doesn't punish him for uploading contents like this, as long as it's on the weekends. So he is uploading everything on this channel.
Doug starting a 2nd channel only to then neglect it while instead posting 2nd channel-tier content on his 1st channel is just another one of the many of his own personal quirks and features. He could have easily prevented this and frankly it's a little disappointing that he didn't given modern password security technology but, for the free cost of admission to his videos THISSSS is what you get from Doug as a viewer. But, still, it didn't have to be this way and the high quality content of this video not withstanding the choice to upload it here gets a 4 out of 10.
I went back and checked that your first video about selling your car and I was inspired. By then I was about to stop posting on my channel but your first video was my inspiration. Thank you for your awesome work.

That's nice. I've been watching you for years I guess and you are one of the only two car reviewers that I do watch and you were very clever to use your channel to promote Cars and Bids and then use your videos to talk about the cars there which of course creates more interest for them and I think that's a great thing about UA-cam. Personally, I'd like to regularly create UA-cam videos but, I don't have focus or charisma, or a place where I can record or the minimum equipment necessary. I want to talk about so many different things and that's not how it works. One of the things that differentiates you is that you always seem to know so much about every single car you come across and that's especially nice for those who are interested in buying that specific car.

You didn't say in this video, but when and how did you come up with the idea for the Doug Score? I also know that you used to have a category called "Importance" but swapped it out for something else.
Well done, Doug. I've been watching your videos for I don't know how long. It's been such fun to watch you get crazy expensive and rare cars, and be invited by manufacturers to review their cars. All the while continuing to do the oddball and normal cars. Keep it up. I hope to keep watching for years more.
I’ve came to the conclusion that he gets wayyyyyy more views on the main channel and that’s just unnecessary lost revenue to justify posting on the alt page. Which to be fair, I’d do the same thing.
I found Doug back in probably 2012 or 2013 when I saw either an ad or just a link to one of his Jalopnik Range Rover Carmax stories and it piqued my interest. Ever since then I’ve never missed an article or video. I think Doug connects with a lot of us who love cars but aren’t necessarily gear heads and that’s why I’ve continued to always follow what he’s doing. Keep it up Doug!

Okay Doug so here I am excited to hear about how you got started and you too. And you start off by saying that your first job out of college was working for Porsche North America and part of the perks you had four 9/11s to drive around
. So as much as I want to hear about your internet story I am 100 times more fascinated by how your first job was in Porsche North America thank you
Emory is a very good school, nationally known, so anyone who graduates from there is smart. Plus, decent enough of ppl have had internships or connections to 1st jobs etc
Until you hit retirement age and realize you've got almost nothing in savings lol
Daddy Doug is truly an inspirational, and the realest UA-camr.
Been a fan since early 2017 even then I knew Doug was different from the regular youtubers something about his genuine personality.
Doug is the type of guy to say “we’re toast” when the police pull him over
Doug's the type of guy to tell the police about all of the car's quirks and features to distract them
Doug the type to ask the cop if he can review his police patrol car
It was great hearing you get emotional at the end - it just underscores that you were born to do this. I try to never miss a show Doug, I'm a true fan.
I just love, over the years how doug kept his attitude character and his admire for the cars in place and never disappointed his viewers. Its been 4 years since Im watching every video you posted and you are the same bright person just like the first day. Just letting you know that you have fans from all around the world. Greetings from Turkey !
Incredible story. From working for porche with a demo 911, to writing to videos as companion pieces. Very cool, inspiring story. Thank you for sharing and thank goodness that incredible 911 didn't keep you stuck in 1 place. Thank you doe sharing all this positivity.
Gran historia!
Salusos desde Argentina!
This and Regular Car Reviews are my go to indie car channels
What you discovered in the middle of 2015 was that UA-cam had so changed the paradigm that, by then, good video skills were better than great writing skills, ceteris paribus. That your personality showed better on video than in the written word.
That was true much earlier with TV vs Newspapers. What really changed was the ease of making and (especially) editing videos. We had a camcorder back in the 1990s but to do any serious editing you needed resources approaching that of a TV station.
I love too see Doug’s passion for cars and his fans. I’ve been watching since 2016 and Doug’s channel is one of my favorites. Way to go Doug!!
Doug’s story is a classic example of “video killed the radio star.”
I’ve been following Doug for years it’s so cool to hear him give a S/O to my home state Minnesota! Keep on, keeping on Doug you’re an inspiration to the young 20 something year olds who want to take risks and you’ve shown us that it’s ok to roll the dice!
The quirks about Doug is that he don't care about UA-cam creator awards while all other UA-camrs are celebrating the little milestone that they have.
Congrats and thanks for sharing your journey 😁
@@yungboicontigo9278 Ok... Chill! Doug haters probably wouldn't watch this channel and there are haters of everybody! These haters are probably just miserable themselves...
This video was great. I got a tear in my eye. Thanks for the videos Mr. DeMuro.
God i miss your articles on jalopnik and oversteer, they were laugh out loud hilarious. I even wrote to you once for your section "letters to doug" (the one about 4 seat ferrari depreciation), the fact that you replied was the highlight of my week, i would show it to my friends to various degrees of excitement from them...
Also some them appear to be missing, is there a place where we can find them and read them again?
Thanks for the years of entertainment!!
Man, I forgot about Dear Doug! Those were great!
Sadly, apparently with Jalopnik going through new owners every few weeks, all the old Kinja stuff was purged including all my old content. Too bad!
@@Drinksfromtap that gif ofthe hand holding the pencil was something else
@@DougDeMuro The ultimate kinja'd one could say, pitty
Aaaaand now you got Doug to reply twice! High marks sir.....
So inspirational Doug. Thank you so much. It's so cool to see you in this kind of way, the support you have and the level of gratefulness you show 🙏💯👌
keep searching for the "More Doug" password, Doug. It is simply playing hide-and-seek with you.
Protect this guy
man, i live in Minneapolis. I wish I knew about your channel from back then. been following you for probably about 4 years, just a little too late. I'm glad you have such an amazing memory of my home town! Much love from Minneapolis Doug!
Doug is the type of guy to not even be distinguishable in a picture of him an his fans at a car meet up for him.
I don't even think he was in them lmao
@@gabrielgiron4273 I honestly paused the video and looked on each picture and couldn’t find him.
I almost didn’t watch because I had seen the last version, but I’m really glad that I did. Amongst your finest.
"They weren't paying all that much"
That's the problem with all companies today, meanwhile the executive team has 10 yachts, not a coincidence....
it's called suffering, and there's not success without suffering.
@@remasher that makes no sense
@@_baller yeah wonder how many writers quit because they didn't pay enough while Doug did it because he liked it and now look where he is. Wonder where Doug would be if he had quit also.

"Does Ferrari 360 attract women" was my very first Doug video I ever watched. I'm sort of veteran subscriber:) I swear I thought Doug was a child of rich parents or some sort.
Doug: "I worked so hard to get my first job at Porsche after my graduation!"
Me: ..Finally, I'm free!!!.....well, let's play some PS4!
Ive never been a good fan, I am not that much interested in the singers I like or the famous people that do or produce thinks I like, but with Doug I have a soft spot. I'm not in the us but I stil fantaseize about those 2016 meeting with him and the Aston. I even got emotional when he tweeted his son. You are the man Doug, and you are also very young, there are many years of great things to come
Can we get a tour of Doug’s garage?
I love the look of the license plates and the Defender stuff.
he did one! I think it's on his More Doug channel
Doug, you’re an amazing human being, and you deserve every bit of recognition and wealth that comes out of your career. I’ve been watching your videos since the Ferrari, and it seems like just yesterday. I wish you the best, and I’m sure that you WILL get that Porsche that you’ve always wanted soon!
What an inspirational story. A true American Success Story. This inspired me to punch my Boss in the face and quit my job. Thanks Doug.
Yes, because in other countries there is no UA-cam.. or Porsche offices, or car press/blogs...
@@ToolkiT73UK or stupid people who can't take a joke.
You’re the best at what you do and seem like a hell of a nice guy. Been watching your videos every Tuesday and Thursday (and now Sunday) for about 3-4 years now. You deserve your success.
Take a page out of Hoovie's book and buy the cheapest Carrera gt in the country.
Dude it was crazy to watch you get choked up at the end. I’m not where I want to be in life right now but it’s amazing watching people like you work hard at something that makes you so happy. Love you man
You didn't say in this video, but when and how did you come up with the idea for the Doug Score? I also know that you used to have a category called "Importance" but swapped it out for something else.
Well done, Doug.
I've been watching your videos for I don't know how long. It's been such fun to watch you get crazy expensive and rare cars, and be invited by manufacturers to review their cars. All the while continuing to do the oddball and normal cars.
Keep it up. I hope to keep watching for years more.
Doug still can't remember his more doug demuro password

It's such a joy watching all these people on UA-cam and getting a real connection with them about things that we care about and are interested in.
“This, is NOT More Doug DeMuro. I unfortunately lost the password last year”
I’ve came to the conclusion that he gets wayyyyyy more views on the main channel and that’s just unnecessary lost revenue to justify posting on the alt page. Which to be fair, I’d do the same thing.
@@SavageMclovein that makes sense. UA-cam became a business service about two years ago. Time to get with the times
Kewl story, bro. No, seriously... I really did enjoy this story.
Thanks for what you do so well, Doug. Your channel is among my favorites.
