success put the new glass replacement in my 200e drivers side e500 successfully , to all DIY make sure you put painters tape around the side mirror to ensure no paint scratches when you take the unit out FYI and plan it carfully ahead of time like a skier skiing down a race hill to make sure you dont break anything and yes I should have like this video using more painters tape on the right side of the mirror housing , only wrong thing I did was when I pulled the unit out back and forth the right side of the glass unit took a little paint off the inside edge of the housing , not really noticeable unless you know its there but yes painters tape is very important to prevent any scratches to paint per video
got it off the harder drivers side with auto dim mirror hard part is finding the groove to snap it back in and that final clip procedure is not that easy either since the space in my 2004 e500 to be able to do like the video seems a whole lot smaller , will try to snap it in tomorrow too tired from taking it off puting the heater plug or whatever those wires plug in thing is for and will make an attempt tomorrow when I have a whole new days patience to try it , just tape the mirror over for now to make sure it doesnt fall out until then , havent broken anything yet on the new mirror unit , the old one where the gel leaked into the mirror making it permanetly dimmed I dont care about when I took it off whether I damaged it LOL since that old part is a throw away , the new part I am very very careful thats why wait till tomorrow to snap it in when I am in better mood
the scary part is trying this and breaking something and making it worse is my fear - so when I do try it , I will gently and slowly pry it open to ensure I dont break anything LOL
doesnt look that easy to me, I bought the part but too scared to try to replace it myself on the drivers side glass with the dimming features , it will take me another month before I get the nerve to do this myself proscrastinating right now lOL
Thanks for this 👍
