Haz, your channel is absolutely the best kick ass dog training channel out there. Thank you for introducing me to Larry Krohn on this podcast where your general philosophy of life is spot on
I remember watching Zak George when I got my first dog. My puppy grew into a very large and stubborn shepherd mix. I turned to watching Zak George for guidance and my frustration and hopelessness grew off the charts. Zak offered zero value to me. I did not even have an aggressive dog. I had an overly confident, overly friendly, headstrong and physically strong dog. If positive only did not work for me and my dog, then I hate to think how many dogs would be written off if we all followed Zak George's ideology. The thing that did help me with my dog was watching and reading Cesar Millan. EXCERCISE-DISCIPLINE-AFFECTION. I absolutely love Larry's no nonsense approach! Thank you Haz for having him on. Thoroughly enjoyed this chat ❤ Please do more like this! 👏
Well, it's taken me all evening to get all the way through, but I have to say, in all honesty, this is by far the best podcast I've seen in a long time...and I watch a ton of dog training podcasts. Haz, keep it up, buddy!! Can't wait for the next one!!
When I got my shepherd, my first dog, 6 years ago I started watching Larry on UA-cam. I have never needed a trainer, my dog is a happy respectful amazing family pet. Funny that you two are the only trainers I watch online and he is your first official guest on you podcast. Thanks guys. Edited to say I do watch Robert Cabral, maybe guest 2?
Best 2hrs. 33 minutes I,'ve spent in a long time. Two of my favorite Dog trainers.....AND. BTW. Larry....I was one of the many who responded to your shirtless picks....Dayyym!!❤❤😄👌
Didn’t realize you started a pod cast. I’ll definitely have to start tuning in . . . I think I heard recently that’s it’s incredibly beneficial to rough play with kids. I think it was that they grow up to be more confident we’ll rounded kids.
Holy. This is def epic. Much respect to both these trainers especially if you’ve got Mals, Dutchies or Eastern block DDR shops. Appreciate both of you. 🙌🏽💯
Crackin' episode! Larry's dedication to educating the owners and relationship with the dog, and Haz's dedication in providing a structured training program is what anyone really needs. Combine the two and you are set for life. So much overlap in their methods and outlook, it's crazy!
Amazing chat lads.. Just so natural & engrossing to listen to. I got so into it, after 10 mins I had to get a beer from the fridge, just chill & listen to 2 master craftsmen at the top of there game. More like this Haz, truly amazing 👌
Best dog chat I've seen in long time on the sport and ecollars ... and Haz is so right when he talks about consistency, we all know those hand full of people that consistently hit the high 80s in all elements.... they are the ones making it to worlds
The problem with Zak George is he thinks he has shown hard dogs with his little series. I don’t think he understands the type of hard dogs that Haz and Larry and other legitimate trainers deal with.
All you have to do is look at Zak George's eyes to know the man is mentally unwell. But he just confidently has to keep shooting himself in the foot proving how unhinged he is, in case we had any doubts. I guess he thinks that will make us buy more Bark Boxes?
@@spaceman51974 "Dog Training" Influencer that has almost 4 million followers here on UA-cam You'd think that would mean he's a great trainer, but really he only got to where he is by cutting business deals to appear on TV shows on Animal Planet talking about puppies and book deals with pet supply corporations like Petco and Petsmart. He considers himself to be a "positive reinforcement only" trainer, but he can't even do that right, or train his own personal dog right even though he has a pet line border collie, the most trainable breed there is.
Fantastic conversation regarding raising dogs and kids today. Excellent content from two highly respected professionals in our industry 👏👏👏👏 (Hillary up in Boston)
Absolutely amazing podcast! Even after watching literally every public video you have, I always learn something new, and this time was no exception. Keep up the good work. Looking forward to more podcasts!
This is the first episode I watched of your podcast. Generally, I think this episode is very good, not only for dog trainer, but also life. I agree mostly with what you say and I like the way you relate life to dog training and reality. Not aware of other dog training podcasts but I find the idea great. Keep it up!!
Sounds like IGP is like preparing a pro symphony audition as a brass player. You have delicate high stuff, you have loud power stuff, short sprint power, long endurance stuff..in any order, you have to prepare for pieces to appear in any order whatsoever and “on the day” your chops, or lips have a certain set up, a certain amount of endurance, flexibility, ability at the extremes, so you have to make certain compromises in the moment to succeed at all of them. Playing a high delicate thing right after some long loud thing, it’s hard, but, on the job you’ll encounter every possible variation every day.
I keep imagining Susan Garrett watching this podcast, listening to you guys talk about yelling at your dogs...now that's a reaction video I'd love to watch!!!🤣🤣
Great convo my dog also tracks fast I noticed when I don't bait the track and reward when articles are found she tracks deeper and a bit slower but she's way more consistent. She generally likes it better
I’m type 2 diabetic, I lost a ton of weight on ozempic. Losing weight motivated me to start lifting again and am stronger than I’ve ever been. It did make fasting a lot easier.
I cannot believe you worked for social services … you talking Ontario Works? I would never have guessed that you had that for a job! Anyhow, loved the podcast, as I did the first one. Great conversation … and hope you both had a good dinner together! And hopefully you’ll both learn off of each other!
And even looking at it from the dog's perspective, if you get in a shower, feel warm water, get out and you do that everyday. Then, one day, you get in and the water is hot, then the fact that you spent all that time jumping out as soon as you felt water, absolutely makes it easier to know to jump out when the water's hot.
I think Cesar truly loves dogs, is gifted with something that the general public cannot quite comprehend or grasp and apply to themselves and their own dogs. DogDaddy is a mentally ill abusive dillweed with a long track record of horrific conditions, destroying people's properties, selling sick puppies. (started out as Guy's Labs, became Griffin Shepherd Kennels, Ultimate German Shepherds, has moved from place to place, leaving the same story in his wake.) Zak George is an average everyday dog owner that can train tricks to even tempered, biddable dogs. He has never shown the training with a truly serious case. He lives to stir controversy and wants everyone to look through his rainbow and gumdrop filter. He cannot accept the reality of nature.
Love it ! Love it! My 2 favorite trainers from UA-cam! The real cool stuff! But let me admonish Larry a little for not training Pyrs anymore. Lol I understand the frustration as I’ve owned one for 7 years and the first couple of years were tough (I’m not the naturally patient type) I know it’s an almost impossible task dealing with average owners and a breed that demands more or at least a different approach for success and requires a kind of compromise or at least acknowledgement of what the breed is. But wow is it worth it ! They are incredible if you get that relationship where the dog really wants to cooperate. And such a high percentage get abandoned so just want to encourage Larry to maybe rethink his stance on not training them anymore. The key I think is getting the owners on board with they’re never going to have a malinois but after having a Pyr thats 100% with you you’re spoiled for any other dog precisely because it’s NOT really “trained”. Anyway hope you’ll change your mind some day and go back to helping les grand chien des montagne. Thanks for the awesome podcast
99% of ppl don’t get enough magnesium. It helps my neck relax, I have a bunch of hardware in there, fish oil helps too. Another excellent supplement is N-Acetylcysteine..it is an amino acid precursor to the liver making glutathione, which it uses to detox every thing the liver detoxifies.. (It’s what they give for Tylenol or acetaminophen poisoning, because the liver uses up its store and then that’s what causes the damage, when the liver runs out of NAC to use to make more glutathione..) It also has lung and ear benefits, and possibly helps the body resist viruses. It really helps resist the effects of alcohol when taken regularly.
Larry I totally feel for the lyme thing i had a couple bad concussions over the past 3 years and now i feel like I have friggen Alzheimer's with memory shit! Ive known plenty that have had lyme
I have asked him in several other force free trainers to show me these studies. And also have asked them if they are in a controlled environment or not or real life and I have never gotten anything but blocked
Also, i've learnt a lot from all your free content and from others such as Robert Cabral and Michael Ellis. Thank you! I had never heard of Dog Daddy until youtube recommended a video where Zak is slating him. I watched it and thought ok he is using heavy leash pressure and corrections, but isnt doing anything outlandish. I watched a couple of DD's videos and thought ok he doesnt seem to be a great trainer, he is pretty much like many amateur trainers who learnt from watching Cesar Milan (who i respect). Now the problem with social media is that its not what you know or how good you are, its how you package and promote yourself. I was shocked to see he has over 3million subscribers. Its BS! 👗🕶️

In my opinion it's not about which system is better, for me the problem stems simply by regarding the pure-positive as a system itself when it should be considered an anomaly, purely delusional is what should be called, because nothing in life is pure-positive, that's an illusion!. In life we must face good times and tough times, and what makes us thrive and go through life is our ability to cope with aversives and difficult situations and not trying to simply avoid them in an attempt to enjoy a life where everything is beautiful and positive, that life only exists in the heads of delusional people like Zak George and alike. Life isn't all unicorns, fairy tales and rainbows, life is sometimes rough, cruel , unfair and we still have to keep on with it. It just cracks me up how these all positive zealots aren't able to understand something so simple, it's really easy, it doesn't take a degree in nuclear physics to get it. In my country there are animal rights groups campaigning not only to ban training tools, but anything that could feel aversive or uncomfortable for their "four -legged sons/daughters" -how they call their dogs-, there were viciously trying to ban the fireworks as well. Well, duh!, instead of trying to habituate the dog to live with it and get used to it, they strive to lock their dogs in a bubble. Good job!!!
I missed where they mentioned this. One example would be a dog that naturally does not bark at all. However at times we do want the dog to bark. So we may reward the dog every time he barks in the house (a bad behaviour which I normally would not tolerate) in order to teach the dog yes, he can bark. It's possible! Then I can add commands for both to bark (the good behaviour) and be quiet. Then go back to our quiet existence in the house, but we also have a dog who barks (and is silent) on command. Maybe this is not what they meant though.
You guys are just smack on, in the first part. First time I have heard of Larry Krohn. Will check put his channel. Anyway.. I think Haz is an awesome trainer. Certainly makes me wish I was a dog trainer. I am considering doing online couse but I don't know that online works (for me) to learn to train.. I am old lol .. we will see. I will have a new, small when grown dog, in a few weeks and I think Haz is so good, I prefer to go there, to learn to train it. You guys are so much about big dogs, I am not sure if this is best for my little one but I don't know.
If anyone ever asks me the difference between Mals and GSDs I am just going to point them to this conversation. I don't think I have ever heard people explain it better.
I heard something about he supposedly trained an "aggressive" dog "live" recently. He brags about this on other trainers' channels to try and prove himself since everyone keeps asking to see him work with an aggressive dog, but conveniently, he hasn't put that video up on his youtube. I wonder why 🙄 /s
@@kosmicantimatter Didn't you know that the rules only apply to everyone else? Zak George is exempt from the same standards as everyone else, of course. Exempt from actually providing proof, actually being honest, and also in actually training dogs lmfao "Rules for thee, but not for me!"
My IGP dog I love a great deal. She lives in my house and sleeps in my bed. Nevertheless, she is treated species specific as a dog, and given the training and enrichment she enjoys. All I ask is 20-30 minutes of her undivided attention per day. For that she has the best of food, exercise, private healthcare and even the very finest private education. The rest of the time is hers. That's a pretty good deal. Every successful IGP trainer I know has their own trainer. You need a decoy to work with, you need someone educated to watch your training and pick up your mistakes, including your own posture and body language. You need a good physio and vet. Its very much a team sport.
The SYNERGY between you and Larry is OFF THE CHARTS.

Best part of the whole thing is "holy fuck thats me" from larry
If anyone ever asks me the difference between Mals and GSDs I am just going to point them to this conversation. I don't think I have ever heard people explain it better.
Can’t stop laughing at you calling dog daddy flava flave wanna be 😂 well put 😂
😂😂😂😂
Zak did train a dog “live” and it went fucking horrible
I heard something about he supposedly trained an "aggressive" dog "live" recently. He brags about this on other trainers' channels to try and prove himself since everyone keeps asking to see him work with an aggressive dog, but conveniently, he hasn't put that video up on his youtube. I wonder why 🙄 /s
Doesn't he know that "Video or it didn't happen"?
@@kosmicantimatter Didn't you know that the rules only apply to everyone else? Zak George is exempt from the same standards as everyone else, of course. Exempt from actually providing proof, actually being honest, and also in actually training dogs lmfao
"Rules for thee, but not for me!"
Lol. That doesn’t surprise me in the slightest 😂. Where can I see this disaster?
Was that the dog behind the soccer field?
