My dad got an 1985 just like this one for 400$, an old lady bought and drove it to church every Sunday then passed away and her family wanted nothing to do with the car! 32,000 original miles great car! All the filler panels are there, 307 V8 85's the last year before the downgrade or "upgrade" to some people to front wheel drive midsized, gotta love the boats.
My great grandma owned a blue 1985 delta 88. That car was so sweet. It was in flawless condition and had about 75,000 miles on it. We had to sell it a few years ago due to her not driving anymore.
i want this car i have 85 buick but this one is more me..."oldsmobile quality" i have alot of appreciation for these cars compared to other people my age into new plastic cars...
Good view of car i wish you would have mentioed the rare gauge pakage and show them working i own a 89 custom cruiser and they work accurate .thanks for preseving a amiercan classic dont sell it to someone who will lowride it or DONK IT UP. with boombox trunk.we need to keep these cars as they where built..👍👍👍
I've had two of these exactly like this. One brown like this and the other was gray. Both had 307s. One was an 80 and one was an 85. They were good cars and very dependable. I was only 24 when I had the 80 , had it 5 yrs and took very good care of it . 3 years after I sold it I had a chance to get an 84. The only real difference was the 80 was a 3 spd auto and the 84 was a 4 spd overdrive. I had that one 5 yrs. . My 80 was slow like that but it was normal and ran perfect too. My 84 had a much faster take off I think it's in the gearing. No worries on that slowness. Those interiors are really comfy that's for sure.
There,s alot of luxury cars on the market today that don,t quite measure up to this one, even gm can,t mimic they,re own success, these cars were simple yet high styled and handled and drove incredibly well, the cars aren,t that modern, but the innovations that made that car are the the same innovations that,s missing from today,s cars, long live oldsmobile.
When originally introduced in 1979, the Delta 88 Royale Brougham was merely a trim option. Having sold well enough, Oldsmobile then decided to spin off the Delta 88 Royale Brougham as a separate model in its own right for 1980.
By the mid-1980s GM had gone wild with the nomenclature. What once was the top of the line in the 88 series (Delta 88) had now become the entry level, and even the follow-on top-of-the-line Delta 88 Royale had now been consigned to the mid-level trim. Now if you wanted the top trim level in the 88 series you had to buy the Delta 88 Royale Brougham. Meanwhile, despite the nomenclature inflation, the cars kept getting smaller, and Chevrolet engines started showing up under the hoods of Oldsmobiles. For 1984, they did it again, dropping the base Delta 88 and introducing the Delta 88 Royale Brougham LS at the top spot.
Fortunately they reproduce quite a few parts for the Olds Delta 88s and the Olds 98s. They make bumper filler panels front and rear, you can get new mirrors, etc. The noses are all made of fiberglass. If you ever find an aluminum hood (a few came with those), those are rare. Some mirrors had a thermometer in them (very rare) like the gauges to the right of the column. If I think of anything else I'll write more. We've been collecting Oldsmobiles '80-'84 98s for quite a few years!
Bonito auto yo tube uno en 1998 me lo regalo mi jefita cuando cumpli mis 18 años.esos eran carros no chingaderas fuertes y macisos comodos y correlones 4 gargantas v8.
Performance issue is probably either the carburetor or a clogged EGR valve. Ours had the issue of bogging down and almost stalling when you'd floor it, and we never could get it fixed right.
I have a Delta 88 Royale from 1982. Same color as yours (maroon or something like that), but the paint is very worn. The speedometer and air conditioner are broken, and the hood ornament is snapped off. It had 75,000 miles at the time the speedometer broke, it's probably 125,000 now. I love it, but the main thing disappoints me is how little power it's engine makes. Being a 307 cu in V8, I would expect more than just 180 BHP. It does have good mileage though, and I still do love the car to death
mine was a 81 I t think. it stunk like fuel. real bad but ran good. had a chevy transmission to replace the orginal that burnt out on 101 freeway in san jose calif
This car I think I am interested in buying the brown 1983 Delta 88 4 door sedan Oldsmobile. Send me the money price for the car and the address and state this car is in ok
This car has seen some serious sun heat. The interior is basically shot (faded and fragile). The only reason it's still in one piece (mostly) is that it just sat there, unused, soaking up the sun.
I have a crown vic from my grandparents... 2003 with 78k on it. it's not tainted!!! That's a nasty old car!!! Nothing clean or beautiful about that!!!!! You're a thief! A scam! A dirty bird!!!

I love how you share the same taste in cars as I do, where we both find the cars most people would just brush over interesting.

I drove a wonderful black Delta 88 just like this and it was a breeze to drive and looked great!
When originally introduced in 1979, the Delta 88 Royale Brougham was merely a trim option. Having sold well enough, Oldsmobile then decided to spin off the Delta 88 Royale Brougham as a separate model in its own right for 1980.
Oldsmobile has class, and any car that it has ever made was an instant classic. I myself own a 52 Olds 98.
can't beat these cars. great in the snow and run almost forever
i miss these cars and i miss the days when these cars were all over

Had a gray metallic one of these actually the 1985 Delta 88 Royale model. REGRET SELLING IT!
Performance issue is probably either the carburetor or a clogged EGR valve. Ours had the issue of bogging down and almost stalling when you'd floor it, and we never could get it fixed right.
Nice one with the optional package that included fender lamp monitors and cornering lamps. Olds should have made this standard on the Royale Brougham.
