Because I'm sure Nomura had a long story to tell with DR. I bet he was counting on at the very least 2 years to tell the whole story. Probably he had pitched a very general outline of the story when he proposed to create Dark Road, expecting to use the rest of the time to fill out the rest of the details within that outline. I'm sure that, just from a story point of view, it has been a nightmare to complete DR after the game shutting down. I can imagine constant rewrites and endless nights trying to fit all the details he had planned in a single update. I'm not impatient, I can wait. Take your time Nomura. This is Kingdom Hearts, I'm sure they have money to spend more time working on this, even without a cashflow from DR.
I don't know how Xehanort became the Seeker of Darkness, but I know how I'm about to become a Seeker of Darkness: By Dark Road getting delayed again. I'm about to go all in with the darkness lol.

I would love to see a documentary about the developmental hell that both Dark Road and Union X had to go through over the years. The problem I tend to run into when researching media development in Japan (or other countries where English is not the spoken language) is that I don't know where to look to find it. Searching something on Google in English shows different results then when you search the same thing in another language. Hopefully the will make a Netflix documentary about it in ten years or something.
If it is being delayed in part to be announced on the anniversary, and with Square’s habit of announcing multiple things about a certain series at the same event, it gives me a little hope that we might receive some other KH news at that time. I’m sure it’s unlikely, but it’s exciting to think it could happen

I think the thing that kills me about this delay is, I’d bet money there’s still only 2 animators working on this thing with no new cashflow coming in. I’m just hoping this isn’t a development hell thing and is just trying to make the best product possible tbh. 😔
Hopefully this will be a lesson to Nomura or Square Enix or whoever not to do any future KH mobile games with important lore attached. This and Union X were trainwrecks from beginning to end. Time to return to tradition. From now on, console games and handhelds only. They can make mobile games for extra cash as long as they don't make them important to the story.

Where they fast forward to him and Eraqus looking at the graves of what seems like the key blade masters they were looking for. I think it’s a 14 year jump? So that would make xehanort in his mid 20s. So from like age 25 to 80 I want to know what he was doing. Or I think he’s way older than 80. He’s probably in his 90s.
At this point, can we really say that we’re surprised? Don’t get me wrong, I love the creators of this game, but they’ve sort of established a predictable reputation (one that stems back to khx) involving delays. That said, most of the time, the wait for content ended up being well worth it. Assuming that the khdr team continues to follow this trend, we can safely assume that the khdr expansion will be well worth the wait.

I am starting to care less about Dark Road due to the plot and the delays and I hope we get the reveals of the next games for phase 2 at the 20th anniversary event and get game releases this year
It didn't make sense for them to shut down khux, it would have been income while they're working on DR, even if they finished the story like they did (which was clearly not their intention) they could have kept events going which should be easy to create and new medals, which again, are easy to create. They had so many monetization options they could have used, even a battle pass, I would have loved all the extra gems I could have gotten as I worked my way through a battlepass. I'll play DR when it comes out, but my expectations aren't high.
