*spoiler* honestly very disapointed in how this series turns out to be. I am a fan of Sakaguchi Kentaro and I expected more from the story. But towards episode 4 to the end of the series it feels like Kazu was cheating in broad daylight, hugging kissing another woman and the worst part was that it was being normalized by the writer / producer. Kazu was married in this movie and he should have at least a self control to not hurt his wife feelings. I feel so bad for Ms. Apple :( Also i hate how the story was pitting one women against each other...instead of Miki confronting Saeko, Miki should have just confronted her husband and demand explanations, having a surgery doesn't mean that Kazu can make love with another women and do whatever he pleases.. and why did they make Miki so blindly in love with Kazu up to the point that she allows her husband to have romance with another woman and spend days with her and acccepted him with open arms and grace afterwards (with a little crying cause i know it hurts)????? crazy. i feel like the only SANE person in this series is Yusuke's brother and that's it.
I feel the same way. First episode got me so emotional and it was so good. But this love triangle was so unnecessary. Just the storyline about loosing a loved one and how to move on with life would have been strong enough. Because damn, the actors were so damn brilliant in these moments.
Oh no..... Thanks for telling us. I am delaying watching cuz it seems too sad but I didn't even think about the cheating. Just assume he would break up with her before he did anything with the other woman.
Oh, just found out what happens in the last episode. Well....I understand why she would be ok with her husband cheating if she knows he's dying. If it was me I would also probably let him do anything he wants. But also, if his time left is very limited, it sucks that he's spending some time with another woman and not you. But I still understand why she feels like she should let him live his last days the way he wants to. 🤔
Before watching, I researched the series and honestly I was very disappointed to learn that he is married. This kind of situation is not at all pretty, falling in love with another woman while having a wife at home is cheating! (I don't know how to speak English, but I came here with the translator to show my same indignation as yours)
Kenshi Yonezu's voice is so perfect for this. I mean I haven't heard any bad song from Kenshi Yonezu, he's one of the best Japanese musicians. I'd love to watch him perform live. Kenshi's voice accompanying Kentaro & Kasumi's scenes = absolute perfection.
I knew it. When I was watching the trailer, I lost my focus on the song back there and asked myself, "Is that Kenshi Yonezu singing the song?" I simply love it combined with Kentaro with his new drama
Shows like this are when I truly wish I learnt/understood the language. With all due respect to the translators, I feel like the subtitles don't do enough justice? 😭😭😭
As a translator myself, subtitles go through a process and quality checking. It follows certain guidelines depending on the platform before they are submitted. Quoting Bong Joon-ho, "Once you overcome the one-inch tall barrier of subtitles, you will be introduced to so many more amazing films." Sure, there are still certain nuances that you can understand better if you understand the language, but not being able to understand the language itself (Japanese, Korean, Thai, etc) doesn't take much away from appreciating creative work of a different language. Besides, learning a new language is better done by practice, you learn better by using it daily to communicate.
You are right. There is something about the feelings, senses, culture, and hidden meaning behind any language that only their speakers understand. You can start learning Japanese/Korean now, not too late.
@@jesseowenvillamor6348 😂 yes , subtitle is great! I have no problem reading it ! Too hard to learn Korean or Japanese or any other language without living in that country.
spoiler: Beautiful story, I know it's very hard for people to get along with the story because of the cheating aspect but It shows how wanting someones love can hurt the person you love and those around them. I think it just shows how blind people can be when they are in love. Saeko didn't think about Kazu's condition at all because of her own pain/love for yusuke until miki told her about what kazu can't do it (drink alchoal, carry heavy things, have sex) was then she realized her selfishness was hurting kazu. There are times where it feels like saeko and kazu want to confess their love for each other but Saeko and Kazu are both confused about their feelings for each other and they know they aren't in any situation to fall in love. Saeko knowing she may be starting to fall for kazu chooses to leave and let kazu live his life with his wife. Kazu of course pretends yusuke's memories are disspearing to allow for saeko to say goodbye to yusuke so he can continue living his life. Miki basically said herself she's stupid in love with her husband. With Miki allowing Kazu to go on the trip she allowed Kazu to give saeko one last chance to say goodbye to yusuke. And Kazu felt he needed to go on this trip for yusuke as well to show how much he appericated yusuke for giving him the chance at life again and to allow yusuke to tell saeko to keep smiling one last time. Yusuke and Kazu were both able to say goodbye properly to saeko at the aiport after telling her to smile/play the piano. Miki supporting kazu until the very end really allowed kazu to give himself, saeko, and yusuke closure. The ending scene with miki and saeko is probably miki inviting saeko back every year to pick apples is because it's kazu's death anniversay, as kazu passed away when they were picking apples. My guess is to keep the memory/life of Kazu alive because now miki and saeko both share moments with kazu.
I was beyond surprised when I saw Toma Ikuta’s face like what!????? The last time I saw that handsomeness was from Hana Kimi and that was ages ago. I’m so stoked for this series. November, please come faster please 😭
That's also the last time I saw Toma, from Hana Kimi, which is long ago. He doesn't seem to have changed at all. One tiny bit of trivia, Kentaro also worked with Toma's wife, Nana Seino, in a 2021 drama titled Only Just Married.
I recommend for you to watch Ikuta Toma's movie called "My Teacher." He looks so handsome there and the story was wholesome. Ikuta Toma and Suzu Hirose had a great chemistry, and I admire their performance. That movie will always have a special place in my heart.
Lol. Toma has been in so many movies and series since hana kimi. But actually I didn't like many of them. J dramas and movies just not my cup of tea. I'll check out this Netflix series for him but he probably will have a lot less screen time than the other 2.
