Caleb, a visual aid would help your guests conceptualize your ideas/plans much easier. Writing out your monthly plans, on a white board or excel file, while you think them out loud would be tremendously beneficial. It's hard for non financial people (as you obviously know already) to understand these concepts without actually seeing the numbers move month over month. For example, when you say "in month 1 take this leftover 1k and pay off this $800 debt and 200 to this other one, now you have an additional $100 of unused minimum payments so you can put 1.1k next month towards this 5k card and save x amount on interest because of it"...Showing them how those would move MoM and how quickly they can erase certain debts would give them a clearer understanding and i think you would see a serious boost in commitment. Regardless, good stuff with these videos. I typically agree with 95% of your takes and plans on these situations and I commend you for taking time to help these people who would otherwise never receive the advice they need.
She gives a lot of excuses, but I think at big part of her confusion was not understanding his numbers, I agree a visual component would help tremendously

Dude your sub count is freaking flying. I so wish they would play one of these videos everyday to high schoolers nation wide. Thanks for making something truly great. I needed this when i was younger before i made all the mistakes in my 20s
Would you have listened as a high schooler? I have a 15 year old and have been considering what I can do to help him not learn things the way I did. Because -- my parents tried when I was in HS. I remember it. And yet, it took getting out and making money on my own -- having bills that HAD to be paid before I started to understand. Oh and a friend I respected heavily recommending _The Only Investment Guide You Will Ever Need_ by Andrew Tobias in my young adult ages. And it still has taken recommitting to over and over at different stages (Crown Finacial Ministries when I was newly married. The Budget Mom within the last year or so) -- and not prevented letting things get out of control. All it takes for me is letting my finances go back on autopilot and things spiral again.
I know some people get after Caleb for being mean, but that honestly is the magic of the videos. Getting frustrated and calling out BS is what makes this channel awesome.
Based on how focused she became for your recommendations, I think she is one of the more promising candidates for becoming a success story. I hope there will be an update video down the road, I think she is going to turn it around.
@@cgyang Yes! Great attitude about the changes, no pushback on what needed to be done. Loved that she repeated back the steps a few times to make sure she had a full understanding of each one.

You caught this one young, early, and before the situation is realistically irreversible so I know how grateful she will be for the session. Keep doing the work of financial saints!👍
Caleb, i wanted to thank you. I found your channel at the start of this year and have now put together a budget and plan. I am paying off my 7 year loan on my car in a year and a half and also plan to have 12k in savings at the end of the year (was zero) and at the start of 2024 with minimum debt i am going to begin my road to maxing out an IRA every year. Thank you so much im 28 march 1st so a bit of a late start, but again thank you for getting me to start this journey
Awesome! Don't stop there. Learning how to save money is only one very basic but crucial step. Once you learn how money actually works, you'll hopefully begin to understand that trading time(having a job) for money is a huge waste of time. I quit my job 10 years ago, and 2022 was the first year I made over a million dollars. Learn how money works very important. The first lesson is that ALL money is debt and is created without any effort by a private company that has a monopoly on creating money(debt)
These videos seriously changed my life. I can’t begin to explain how deranged our spending was and how much I didn’t realize it. These have put it into complete perspective. My family is leaving the cycle of living perpetually broke and in debt, and watching these videos are the trigger. Thanks Caleb. We’re Financial Audit fans for life.
This whole series makes me wonder how you would feel about my financial situation. We can’t go based off last month though because that was a unique month 😝
Happy B Day Caleb ! Jillian is a good example for everyone her age living at home. Don't waste those financially positive years. Work & save as much as you can to live your BETTER life down the road.
With her experience she should search for more digital marketing positions. If she took a couple of those free Google certificate courses, plenty of start ups or agencies would probably hire her in a heartbeat for a decent salary, especially in Texas. Course Careers also has a digital marketing certificate course, if she wants something more structured.
She could also start a little contractor business and pick up a couple similar small clients as a contractor. Would go well with her acting dreams. She’s actually making a little money acting, so she isn’t as much of a hopeless dreamer as some of the other clowns on this channel, but she’s not supporting herself yet either.
I am so glad she sought help before she was buried in debt! She has Caleb, her parents and her attitude all working for her success. If she can buckle down for the day to day discipline she needs, she will be the success she desires.
Caleb, I wish I had someone like you in my corner when I was going through my debt era. It took 2 years to build up all the debt that I had (from reckless spending, spending frivolous on others who never paid me back, having my cards hacked by my ex, etc) and by the time everything spiraled and I was on the verge of being sued by 6 different companies, is when it all crashed on me. I ended up in a debt program for 6 years and worked on a payment plan with everything else. I had to increase my work hours, nearly driving myself into the ground to get everything level. No excess fun or anything, heavy budgets and close monitoring of everything. Your tough but I'm happy to see you help people to balance their finances. What took me 2 years to accumulate took 10 years to pay off. Great advice that you give everyone. Keep up the great work!
One of the things I’ve noticed on this show is how many young people think they have to go out and eat at restaurants to have fun. It’s a problem of modern society. I like the fact that Caleb points out examples of how to have fun without spending much money.
@@rd24lifenot for me. Being out in public with random people make me hive up. I'd rather be scaling a hill hiking it, or spending time with a close friend at their house. I haven't been to a restaurant in years. I can't enjoy eating around a bunch of other people and looking around.
My credit card debt is ridiculous and the interest is killing me. I haven't spent on them for a few months and am starting to chip away at them. I love this show and it keeps me motivated but I also relate and feel so guilty for my habits previously
Progress is the the goal. Try to turn the feeling of guilt into a feeling of urgency to correct your course. It’s crazy how nobody is teaching us how to truly handle money when we are young and need that help the most. You got this.
Another great video Caleb! Cutting up the cards was hilarious and would make a great reoccurring segment. You should start filling a jar on the shelf behind you with the ones you cut up (with the numbers covered obviously). It would be great to see it fill up and would encourage more guests to do it!
Thanks to Caleb's tough love, I started paying off my credit cards AND I canceled my subscriptions for Audible, Kindle, Paramount+, downgraded my Hulu subscription (I should cancel that too) and changed my car insurance. 🙃 Financial Auditing myself
Great episode, as naive as she was about her own finances, and she did also have a few built up excuses, but overall she accepted personal responsibility for her situation, was very accepting of Caleb's guidance, there are few people who come on here and seem as determined and willing to learn as she was and after the first couple excuses she was pretty okay to be told why she was wrong. And held no anger or resentment about Caleb taking her cards and cutting them before she agreed to do so. While I think that was exactly the push she needed, it's very much pushing the line of what you can be doing to help people
@@elijimenez7710 its her property. It doesn't matter how easily they can be replaced (and often there is a fee). People can't just take your shit and destroy it
She is so sweet. I hope her parents see this and are supportive. Once she starts making more money she'll hopefully do really well applying what she's learned. Not making enough income makes everything harder
This was my favorite exchange! You could see her fight to cut the cards but did so because deep down she knew it was right. Finance is all mentality, and she is taking the steps!!! Super great to see
I didn't think I was going to like her, but I love her!! She's the only one I've watched so far that really actually wants to make a change! It's frustrating to watch Caleb give great advise to people that you know aren't going to take it! Love her positivity!
I love this channel, man you’re gunna grow the hell out of it and it’s gunna be as big as Dave Ramsey - if not bigger. It’s awesome man, keep it up. You already got Graham Stephen talking about you.
I think she can do this! She wants to go back to having fun as soon as she can, so she will bust her ass to get there as quick as she can!! Can't wait to see a follow up on her story! You got this girl!!!!

Every video I can tell there is something impriving too, weather its the audio, editing, where yall are shooting, and overall production in general. Keep up the great work!!
This channel makes me feel much less behind than I actually am. Currently have a 6k emergency, and 20k in investments at 31. Hoping to save 20k a year for at least the next 4 years to max my TFSA. It's rough, but doable on my pay. I give myself 100 a month for "fun" and hand-made all my gifts last year. Had way too much fun in my early years. Two years into my grind to reset. No debt left, have a shitbox car, and a stable job. The re-affirmation this channel gives to my current goals helps a bit. So thank for the videos. Next step is increasing income through another stream.
I would love to see a follow up in the next 6-7 months. At least she's taken in everything you've advised her on which seems promising so I hope that she manages to stick with it and does well!
Seriously, my friends and I watch all your videos!! Please keep it up! I was busting out laughing with you cutting up the card!!! I know you might not see this, but a good way to let people still have "fun" is by letting them still go out with friends, HOWEVER, they can just sit there with them at the bar or Restaurant, they dont need to spend. The vast majority of people just want the company while they eat or drink. I use to do this in college and after I explained to people "I ate before and just trying to save, but I love chilling with you so dont worry I dont have food, its fun for me" After that, even more people would ask me out to go chill and stuff and I never spent a dime, but had a blast! So people can still go do things, just pre eat and stuff, then go. I recommend this becuase lots of the time people freak out that they "cant live life", but there are great ways to not spend and still have fun.
You're killing it Caleb. You give the most realistic and applicable (not official) financial advice out of all of the financial gurus I've watched. I really appreciate your dedication to providing solutions that ACTUALLY keep up with todays economy. I wish I could send all Dave Ramsey followers to your page, but I will never stop recommending this channel to friends
The irony of wanting to keep the Pride card. It's why corporations do this type of marketing - because the victim associates with it even though it's causing them immense harm. They're not your friends, they support your cause if it's financially beneficial. I don't blame them but people should be aware of it.
Obsessed with this series. Wish you would do a podcast with people from other states, would be so interesting to listen to! You've inspired me to buckle down and be uncomfortable for a short period for long-term freedom.

This was such a fun episode.
Jillian is adorably clusess and such a good sport. Stick to the plan, you've got this!
I know some people get after Caleb for being mean, but that honestly is the magic of the videos. Getting frustrated and calling out BS is what makes this channel awesome.
agreed! him calling out bs makes me call out my own bs
Anyone calling that out is just twitter types that don’t like him and want a reason.
I feel like Caleb is the definition of chaotic good 😂 this one was very entertaining! I’m rooting for ya girl
Based on how focused she became for your recommendations, I think she is one of the more promising candidates for becoming a success story. I hope there will be an update video down the road, I think she is going to turn it around.
I agree. She may have started out rough. But seemed to listen and compile everything Caleb said and not push back or whine about making sacrifices.
@@cgyang Yes! Great attitude about the changes, no pushback on what needed to be done. Loved that she repeated back the steps a few times to make sure she had a full understanding of each one.
Lovely young lady. I hope that she follows the guidance and builds to a wonderful financial future.
Agree! And hope there's a follow up to this. We wanna see a success story too!!
Cutting up the credit cards was the funniest thing I've seen this month 😂
She was an absolute delight, I love how through Caleb rants she understands what she needs to do! Definitely wanna see her update!
Caleb this is peak infotainment! So happy to see someone who has a great personality coming into the episode and a financially committed mindset going out of it. You caught this one young, early, and before the situation is realistically irreversible so I know how grateful she will be for the session. Keep doing the work of financial saints!👍
The waxing conversation was the perfect comedic relief to the insane stress the first 20 mins was giving me 😂
Caleb, i wanted to thank you.
You’ve got this!!!
@@CalebHammer i will reply to a video in 6 months with updates
28 is fairly young still, it's definitely not too late. Good luck, you've got this!
@@stephaniedouglass3265 appreciate you 🙏
Caleb throwing the cut up credit cards in the air like confetti with the monotone “celebraaaattee” is sending me💀
These videos seriously changed my life.
Caleb, I love how so blunt you are!!! The balance of comedy and education is pure golden for me. Thank you, sir 🙏🏾 🤣
🥂🍾🥂🍾🥂🍾🥂🍾
Happy B Day Caleb ! Jillian is a good example for everyone her age living at home. Don't waste those financially positive years. Work & save as much as you can to live your BETTER life down the road.
She is taking this all in and is so genuine. She knows something wrong and wants to get on the right path.
This has been by far the funniest, and most enjoyable episode 😂 her energy is amazing
These videos have really helped me change my perspective on my finances, so thank you for what you do Caleb!
Thank you!
I was just thinking the same. This videos cured my “stupid eating out and boba addiction “ thank you Caleb
This episode succeeded in giving me a headache/cracking me up and pissing me off lol. Great content man, keep up the good work 👍
🤣🤣
With her experience she should search for more digital marketing positions. If she took a couple of those free Google certificate courses, plenty of start ups or agencies would probably hire her in a heartbeat for a decent salary, especially in Texas. Course Careers also has a digital marketing certificate course, if she wants something more structured.
She could also start a little contractor business and pick up a couple similar small clients as a contractor. Would go well with her acting dreams. She’s actually making a little money acting, so she isn’t as much of a hopeless dreamer as some of the other clowns on this channel, but she’s not supporting herself yet either.
Yep, so true!
Yea she can get hired full time as a copywriter at this point with her experience…
I'm so proud of her. She really internalized your feedback and seems to actually want to build an awesome financial foundation for a good future.
I agree, unlike some other guests she really seemed ready to learn and to absorb the information
I am so glad she sought help before she was buried in debt! She has Caleb, her parents and her attitude all working for her success. If she can buckle down for the day to day discipline she needs, she will be the success she desires.
MY FAVORITE PART
12:31 “Our fridge broke”
“Then you get a cooler and ice!”
The look on her face 😂
Good for you getting your debt sorted! It's hard but worth it for the peace of mind ❤️
@@debbieharris1628 Thank you very much. And that peace is the best feeling ever
I’m considering applying for a debt relief program. How much debt did you have when you applied?

"WHAT ARE *YOU* WAXING" Jesus Caleb lol
One of the things I’ve noticed on this show is how many young people think they have to go out and eat at restaurants to have fun. It’s a problem of modern society. I like the fact that Caleb points out examples of how to have fun without spending much money.
@@rd24lifenot for me. Being out in public with random people make me hive up. I'd rather be scaling a hill hiking it, or spending time with a close friend at their house. I haven't been to a restaurant in years. I can't enjoy eating around a bunch of other people and looking around.
this was actually hilarious. she handled Caleb's feedback so well! I sensed "co-host" chemistry here!
I agree 1000 percent
My credit card debt is ridiculous and the interest is killing me. I haven't spent on them for a few months and am starting to chip away at them. I love this show and it keeps me motivated but I also relate and feel so guilty for my habits previously
Progress is the the goal. Try to turn the feeling of guilt into a feeling of urgency to correct your course. It’s crazy how nobody is teaching us how to truly handle money when we are young and need that help the most. You got this.
that's healthy shame and guilt😂. Be Caleb-firm with yourself !
How are you doing?
Finally back on schedule to appreciate all the work Caleb does.

Another great video Caleb! Cutting up the cards was hilarious and would make a great reoccurring segment. You should start filling a jar on the shelf behind you with the ones you cut up (with the numbers covered obviously). It would be great to see it fill up and would encourage more guests to do it!
lo and eventually it could be made into a dead card collage to frame in his background
Thanks to Caleb's tough love, I started paying off my credit cards AND I canceled my subscriptions for Audible, Kindle, Paramount+, downgraded my Hulu subscription (I should cancel that too) and changed my car insurance.
🙃 Financial Auditing myself
Love her personality… she is genuine and seems motivated. Would love to see a follow up video! Good luck! We believe in you Jullian!
Broooo, cutting up the credit cards on camera was freaking savage and utterly fantastic. Love it!
While I think that was exactly the push she needed, it's very much pushing the line of what you can be doing to help people
How is it pushing the line?
If she wants she can call that company to send her a new card. They will happily send it to her so she can keep spending.
@@elijimenez7710 its her property. It doesn't matter how easily they can be replaced (and often there is a fee). People can't just take your shit and destroy it
“Then you get a cooler and ice!” I literally spit my drink out. This guy is so funny 😂
"I couldn't afford to go to college."
"My dad put 10k down on my car."
yeah she could have gone to college, or get her certification instead of a car.
F&CK college I make 50k a year with just a highschool diploma.
She is so sweet. I hope her parents see this and are supportive. Once she starts making more money she'll hopefully do really well applying what she's learned. Not making enough income makes everything harder
Favorite Caleb quote so far: “Do you KNOW your money?!” 😂
Holy poop, your almost at 200k subs now! I remember back when you only had like 30k, big props to you and your team Caleb
Props to you for supporting!!
You could tell she was really paying attention and trying to understand the steps. She seems so excited for her future, I really hope she does well!
I agree! The ending felt hopeful! Which is not typically the case with his guests. 😊
Love the little win. She labeled the emergency fund account. You go girl.
I think she can do this! She wants to go back to having fun as soon as she can, so she will bust her ass to get there as quick as she can!! Can't wait to see a follow up on her story! You got this girl!!!!
I LOVE HER, the waxing convo has me laughing so hard! 😂❤
She's my favorite video so far, and would LOVE to see her on the follow up channel!
ive gotten into finances recently and love having these videos in the background while I work. Ive been here when you were under 40k subs! So glad to see your channel rocket up in popularity. Every video I can tell there is something impriving too, weather its the audio, editing, where yall are shooting, and overall production in general. Keep up the great work!!
Kudos to her for her cooperation and understanding 👏🏽
Love the videos. I hope the actors/actresses are taking your advice serious and not just going on the show to use as a launching pad to gigs
Dude "get a bucket and ice!!!!" really had me going 😂😂😂😂😂
The “wait wait…… love wins” right before you cut up her Discover card had me ROLLING 🤣
So close to 200k, absolutely blown away with your growth! Congrats Caleb. Love your videos and clearly others do too.
Was about to get Starbucks just because I had extra time and heard Caleb's voice in my head "BS spending!" and decided I don't really want it anymore 🤣
What a smart and motivated guest. She is so sweet and self-aware. Financially illeterate but hey she is 23 and actually seems to want to learn. There is so much hope for her but I am only a few mins in.
Cutting up the card was comedy gold! 😂 So glad I found your channel! I recently cleared my credit balances and reviewed all my own spending for the past few months. Love it!
i love how she has a sense of humor especially when u cut the card and threw it at her lmao!! im so glad she'll do anything to benefit her financial future!
"Define 'just spend it'" Love her, haha thanks for your service Caleb and your courage miss! You're young, this experience will prop you up for a good future!
Her debt might be high but her voice is tremendously relaxing lol
