Seems like Heat is basically a more fleshed out Rage Drive that can be used when at full health
TK's Rage combined with a few ideas of meter systems from 2d fgs like SF and KOF
With Tekken now having a "heat system" I think now would be a perfect time to add a guest character from Yakuza
I have a theory that this Heat system is also meant to help accommodating 2d fg dlc chars (assuming already that they will return even if it's different ones) but this time without borrowing their native meter system. Like in TK7 Akuma using his SF4 meter system and Geese using his KOF 14 meter system. So now a guest could only use the same thing as others for the sake of balance.
Besides the core goal of experimenting and reinventing the combo mechanics of the series, this Heat system change also helps to balance the TK chars with the 2d fg chars in combo capabilities. This balance intention makes sense if 2d fg chars are in the game. They made a big positive impression for being such a different and shocking addition and, and at the same time equally a big negative impression for being too unbalanced using their personal combo mechanics.
Great summary, well done. At the begging I was skeptical but now with more details I must say Heat looks interesting.
From my understanding when you enter heat with 2 charges, you can either Dash twice, Dash then Smash, or do one Smash. Smashing ends the state regardless if you have 1 or 2 charges.
I really wish they had called this the Burn system instead of Heat. "BURN TO FIGHT! HE'S ON FIRE!" vs "HE'S IN HEAT AND READY TO SMASH"
Correction: if you have 2 8's, you can use Heat Dash twice, but you can only use Heat Smash once cuz it consumes Heat.
A good inspiration taken from Vanilla version of Claudio's Osse arm movesets and change of certain moves' properties during heat
Had to come back and see how the original heat system was designed to work compared to launch.
Paul will be one of the strongest characters in this chapter.
@@DarkJessie20 any game but 7, he was mediocre or an absolute joke competitive wise. My predictions say that many of the new changes will not play that well on paul's gameplan but absolutely bust out some of the other characters. I think some of the defensive characters with good keepout like jin and lee will benefit more from this due to them also having access to universal option of being agressive. Or maybe rushdoen characters like Law because of chip damage. Meta is unpredictable, with forced 50/50's evasive characters like paul and feng might be nerfed
i want his personality back
no comic relief bs, just straight to the point like his former self.
I just noticed this: when you look at the character portraits that are on the healthbar, they have a chain. That chain will be removed when you enter heat state.
Feels like a more fleshed out rage art
i think story mode's boss will have permanent heat state or something. probably Kazuya (Devil)
Jeez when they said aggressive they really meant it
Thank you so for explaining this concisely, I was very confused by the last tekken 8 presentation
I always played Tekken for fun, but for Tekken 8 I am super excited and actually bought an arcade stick! Awesome video man thanks Subscribed ;)
Best explanation video for sure -- using the older gameplay reveals that used the Heat feature makes it much more easier to understand and distinguish now.
It was hard to grasp before because I somehow associate this as a Paul only thing since we only get to see him in action.
Bro, this was really well put together, I have no further questions
Awesome explanation, thanks and keep it up!
The pressure itself in Heat State under 10 sec is a pure gamble. Like... Literally! Which i find it actually fun and entertaining XD
Bro law looks so sick 😭😭🔥
Thats a good summary of the presentation
I Can't wait to see what cool things Anna will do with this new heat system ♥️💐🌹 thank you for such amazing video!! My favorite channel about Tekken ♥️👏👏👏
Best summary so far
The Tekken 3 style intro with the old announcer and music just gave me a nutstalgia, thank you.
I need Anna heat move where she booty pushes someone or straight up uses her bazooka ong.
I can't wait to see how Hwoarang heat system well be
I love your video, you’re super clean at. I would like ti know what you think about these new mechanics
I love how they used law and paul to show off tekken 8. My fave characters
Love this mechanic. Adds an extra element to be wary of
It's funny you add like Tekken 3 music because that was my first Tekken too lol and like at that time of you showed me this directly after Tekken 3 I'm sure my brain would have exploded. But like in a good way because it looks cool n stuff
I can already see a perfect DLC character that fits this system . *Ohma Tokita* from *Kengan Ashura* . During the *Heat* his body turns all Red like he's in his *Advance technique* . During it he can perform his combined Kata moves.
Him or Baki needs to get in this game would be so cool. Geese and Akuma were awesome announcements bringing 3 games together, but seeing them in tournaments not so much 😬
I wish we got to play around with this before the final changes.
I'm super impressed and optimistic with all these changes to the system.
You have cool dash effects, a few enhanced moves while Heat is activated, all new moves, new animations, new Rage Arts, new character models and outfits and you basically have access to Rage Drives whenever you want in the match.
Initial impression seems like players will have more flexibility in how they approach the game. Some players might yolo and pop Heat right at the start of the match to try and get an early edge and others might opt to wait and use it towards the end.
The mechanic really reminds me of the soul charge in SC6.
It's a combination of past 3d fg meter systems with 2d fg meter systems.
u can disable recover gauge by low atack
Tekken 3 soundtrack never gets old
Looks like they took a page or two out of Akuma’s book for the Heat Engager and Heat Dash, primarily on his FADC…
I also love the sonic boom effect on the Heat Dash.
Sounds really cool, it's a bit like the counter charge on steroids.
Finally, they put meter mechanic from soul calibur 6 to this game... Let me tell you this is gonna be awesome
That's literally what killed SC6 for me. The whole lethal hit and soul charge was so lame to me. But if people like it, they like it.
cant wait to see the new Yoshi ^^
I honestly will probably get real tired of the heat system if it’s going to have that brief slow motion every time. It slows down the game if players begins doing to each other back to back. I want to fight, end the round, move to the next round, end match. Not fight, slow mo, fight, slow mo, next round, more slow mo, final round, back to back slow mo, end of match. It’s like my feelings for Burn Out. It’s cool crashing cars & seeing them in slow mo the first few times but then gets boring & slows down the race that u just want to immediately get back to so u start skipping the slow mo cutscenes.
That concept I think it is referred to sfv v trigger also kof 2002 cancel gauge system
Nice, Melty's Heat gauge.
Will watch this 100 times till i get it.
Way too cool
So basiclly it very similar alike KOF 13 cancel system to chain combos to another moves or special and fast link attacks
Could possible rage drive also part of heat system if in heat mode ? If they do that makes the game easier
good old tekken 3 music ♥
Feels like tons of changes
The OG Heat System we never got 😢
The heat system looks crazy!
I don’t like that the input is df+Lp+Rp… and that it takes the R1 space on the controller for that… I wish it was like L2 or df+Rp+Lk (like an item special)
I am just excited about kazuyas true devil form here also jin's what is it going to be how hard the final battle will be do we get to select character or not too many questions
the only thing that matters to me in this video is King hitting an RKO. insta-buy
I have a theory that this Heat system is also meant to help accommodating 2d fg dlc chars (assuming already that they will return even if it's different ones) but this time without borrowing their native meter system. Asukas gonna bait so much parries.
Is it like max mode and max mode quick (activation-wise) in the most recent kof?
Cool.
I'm assuming their goal is to attract more people, which means attracting more casuals (better graphics, cinematic camera angles, over the top flashy sparks).
So how would this hella complicated mechanic help with bringing in more casual players?
I'm just curious what the thinking behind it is.
This game is gonna be the Tekken Tag 2.
I wonder if there are more Heat Smash for each character? I was hoping for it to link with Rage Art. Otherwise we would rely upon two Heat Dashes to Rage Art.
These just feel like rage drive + Vtriggers haha. But really I'm waiting to see t he r defensive options against these. Like could you still break kings throw? And side step Paul's charged guard break??
Big facts. I’m a side step god. As someone previously said in the comments, that Heat system nonsense Is only going to appeal to casual players. I’ve been on Tekken since the early arcade days. HS (Heat system) won’t mean anything to someone like me who can mix it up with you. I’m normally a King main. But I am looking forward to adding my boy Law as a new one. His new chest stomp is primo. 👌🏾
@@CelltheGREAT I'm 50/50 on the heat system, as you said its to appealing to casual crowd. I am casual too, but I just don't want it to water down the technicality & "chess" feel Tekken has.
Chip damage is very well thought of. You accumulate temporary chip damage while blocking enemy with heat which rewards the agreesor but also compensates defensive skills since you can recover the chip damage with well placed pokes and counter hit. The system also promotes dodging and whiff punishing will be more often an occurrence. Characters look amazing as well. I just hope they revamp Paul's hair he really looks like someone who wants to talk to the manager lol
With all these super moves now implemented in Tekken, can we revive Tekken X SF project?
Paul is like 104 years old in Tekken 8
Oh ya King‘s RKO
How many times can you enter the heat state? Is it just once or can you spam it with ie (deathfist) multiple times in a round?
The Heat System in Tekken 8.
Heat Burst: an Offensive Power-up Mechanic that performs a slamming attack that causes frame advantage on Hit/Block.
(it also has power crush on Start-up).
Heat Engager: an Offensive Power-up Mechanic that performs a straightforward attack while running towards the opponent at high-speed With frame advantage on Hit.
Heat Dash: an Offensive Mechanic that rushes towards the opponent at mach-speed after certain moves on Hit/Block.
Heat Smash: an Offensive Mechanic that performs a Heavy Blow that causes frame advantage on Hit.
i thought we were gonna be able to do heat actions man bummer
HELLO, good video! 🌼😄
So theoretically would it be a good strategy to pick an evasive character and just keep distance while heat burns out?
Well think of it this way .
The more you block during heat system is active, the more time it takes for heat system to empty
If you block during heat system still active, the more chip damage you receive for blocking. Which will ultimately force you into pressing button unless you like being bullied in a corner
Thank you, the actual preaentation is pretty confusing lmao.
can you turn it off in the settings though ?
I feel like the Heat Engager should have different sprint animation for each characters. My opinion
Maybe they will polish it as long as gameplay goes.
At stage explosion animations, Lars and Nina seemed to have different rections...
Paul finally ran out of hair gel
#excelent
I wish they explained if the heat meter can be used once per round or per set
Or if when you spend there's a way to fill again in the same round or something
@@guilhermearaujo4414 Once per round. The meter gets refilled at the start of each round.
Its a fun system! But this will be a completely offensive Tekken... Everyone will want to attack as much as possible to gain advantage...
In Shao Khan's coliseum for some reason.
Everything is great. But i'd like to replace lifebar's and Heat Gauge's colors. It would suit better as for me. Blue has always been more traditional color for lifebars, and heat = fire.
It could be a tradition to them that they always introduce a new Tekken series with lifebars in yellow. Think of T5, T6 vanilla, T7 vanilla and FR. And when a patch gets released they change the color of lifebars to blue like in T5 DR, T6 BR, and late releases of T7.
@@kevinchy1925 Good point of view! It's obvious that they will change it every season. Vanilla Tekken 7 (2015) had blue, but console version (2017) yellow.
That chip damage on block is really a ridiculous thing...I really hate that....this now means that no more defense...only offense, offense and offense....this will change the archetypes of characters coz every character in the game is different and unique in it's own way.
Like that's Harada has been proposing, "AGRESSIVE" gameplay. and what do you mean ridiculous thing? guard damage has been a thing in Tekken until it became optional from Tekken 3 onwards. in case you forgot, guard damage still exist in Tekken 7. rage drive that pushes you back to the wall can cause chip damage, energy projectile from Akuma, Geese and Eliza causes chip damage and a big one on EX.
It is unclear whether you can use a Heat Engager move (like Deathfist) without activating Heat.
🤔 Good point. I wonder if you have to hold down the button to "engage" it.
I main Bryan, so surely b1 or ff4 will be a couple of his Engager moves, but I wouldn't want to activate Heat every time I did those moves.
The offensive health recover reminds me of bloodborne time to git gud ladies and gents!
Why is paul fighting in Shao kahn arena ?
heat system may be a good mechanic , chip damage while opponent is on heat creates more creative offensive play instead of blocking,
ok but how do i get that voice on my game???
Round 1
That's the old sound from takken 3
I miss the rage system this is to street fighter like
The rage system is still in Tekken. It's just not the entire endgame anymore. Also, this heat system is only similar in function, in SF you build your meter, but Tekken 8 you get it on round start. Plus, the game ain't even out yet, why are you missing a mechanic that you can still experience in it's predecessor? Patience friend, you seem to need it.
I'd rather have this than a rage drive mechanic where basically once per round you throw out a yolo plus on block, probably almost tracking launcher that does over 50% of your health on hit. But we'll see how strong the new Heat properties are. If anything it adds more depth to character's movesets, and strategies
@@Robotlien Thank you. People are having the weirdest takes on a game that isn't even out yet.
If anything you'll now have access to both a Rage Drive and Rage Art once per round.
YAKUZA REFERENCE
Harada could perfectly have made it a 3-4 mins max video
Thank God they got rid of double heat energy
Таг торнамент 2 был последним хорошим теккеном, последующие игры уничтожили всю боевую систему полностью. Нахрена? Я 20 лет любил эту игру, а теперь на неё смотреть только и то со слезами. Спасибо вам большое...
This sounds HARD lol
I hope they do justice to my bro King. I would train hus grabs for days straight. But after 3 or 4 matches, my friend would learn reverse it for good. After that, all my hours of training were just a waste.
So each person get's Geese's Max mode once... every round... I don't know about this.
Well It seems kinda sketchy, but if we think about it from another angle... like what if there are 2d fg chars again? In that case every TK char will have combo capability to rival a SF or KOF.
Holy shitttt
So tekken is gonna be the new street fighter?
Looks fun!
When at 2 heat energy, you can not use heat smash twice - right? It always uses both charges, so you can smash once, or dash twice, or dash, then smash.
Yup
Yes, this clarification should've also been in the video
Dash then smash, you say 🤔
That's how Kazuya treated Jun
Smash n' Dash
