@@arielfetters5662 There's one Gundam that can match their size and mass, as Jaegers come from 30 meters to 150 meters, and we have this Devil Gundam reaching 90+ meters though it is still hella faster and armored than most Jaegers as it can withstand a powerful plasma blast or equal to Godzilla's atomic breath or King Ghidorah's strikes. It is insane that you can beat it by attacking its joints or blinding its cameras to just let it wail. Anyhow, yeah- its a machine that fits the 'devil' in name, but i like the clunky and slower ones like the Jaegers.

They're about 15 to 30 meters and weight helluva lot lesser than the Average monster punching machine Jaegers. After all these guys specialize both armor and speed as they're just considered as flying tanks, but yep- they're like just above their knees. I don't want to bring the technology they had.. as they surpass the 'futuristic' term of the Earth in the Pacific Rim, BUT- that's why i like it- Gundams are a different taste, they're quick and hype. Jaegers are Heavy, clunky and well armored 'warriors' +Hype on their own, fighting gigantic titans with their own fists and few numerical weapons within or out of hands. Which is why i am glad that the Anime version followed the 1st movie of Gigantic powerful mechs who had actual weight on them.
I was kinda excited to see this show, but when the second trailer came out and Loa said the training Jager had no weapons I knew it was going to be tough.
The show was actually really good if you never gave it a chance. They do eventually get weapons but the lack of Weapons makes an incredibly tense cat and mouse game with intense fights.

A high caliber bullet ain't gonna do much even if it penetrates, that amount of kinetic energy is literally mosquito bite to them. There's a reason why all Jaegers opted for either their fists and bladed weapons for close combat and high explosive or plasma weaponry for ranged: none of those things have a chance of bouncing off off the kaiju skin. Blunt force can deliver concussive force even if it doesn't penetrate, bladed weapons guarantee higher success than bare fist due to the weight behind each strike, guaranteeing that they get through the tough skin and strike the organs, high explosives are doesn't need to penetrate to deal damage and plasma weaponry just straight up ignores conventional durability.

Correction, Sim Rigs do exist. But in the same sense a driving sim does, and a driver's exam uses a real car. The Simulator works to get to know the fundamentals, the actual Jaeger is to get a feel for the real thing.
Thank God this is anime,but in real life "Fire all weapons" is NOT advisable, where are they going to restock or do maintenance on the Jeager? next when one does NOT train, one reduces the chances of survival and combat skills.

Loa really didn't allow copperhead to attack them, it was taylor's and hayley's combined inexperience is why they were left open to attacks so many times. All loa was doing to trying to help them. She's a AI she can't do anything but give suggestions to them on what to do especially when she can't control the jaeger.

Still, she did leave them all open to Copperhead's attacks because of her sarcasm like when she made it seem like she was firing the weapons but said “fatal strike! Is what I would say if those were actual weapons” after playing a hologram of destroying Cooperhead and just talking to them instead of warning them when the Kaiju is about to strike or taking the lead telling them what to do since Taylor and Hailey are just kids and freaking out. I mean, Atlas Destroyer had radar here, so Loa should be able to track a Kaiju’s position.

Literally 4 out of those 5 strikes consisted of atlas being too slow to dodge copperhead and the first film made it abundantly clear a jaeger is only as good as its pilot. If the pilots are inexperienced the jaeger itself is screwed. In most cases whenever atlas was hit it was due to inexperienced of it's pilots, s2 i feel like could of been better story wise but I do love how the action was better and the show had no limits to it's darkness just like akame ga kill.

If she hadn't cracked that manual joke and waited to be asked for help, Hailey and Taylor could've drifted and been able to ready themselves for combat. Not to mention Loa pretty much got everyone in the camp killed when she ALSO should've known that hanger doors make a lot of noise and not to open them without making it known to Taylor and Hailey. We know Loa feels guilty for the loss of her first two pilots. Someone like that doesn't go around wasting time, making dumb decisions, or cracking jokes in the very situation that caused them grief. But that's just bad writing more than anything. Still, all that on top of the fake weapons hologram and not warning or preparing them for Copperhead's attacks like she does later in the show. Yes, they can see everything from the Conn-pod, but they aren't prepared for the mental and physical shock of fighting a Kaiju in a Jaeger. Well, they did good for kids, yes, but only after Loa told them what to do. They weren't on a Ranger’s level, let alone battle-ready.

There's an explanation. Originally, Atlas was created to fight and kill kaijus, with a weapon being some missile launchers at the wrists. But for some unknown reason, the jaeger's rank went down from a combat jaeger to a training jaeger. Thus, all of her weapons were removed.
