  • I needed some more storage on the Grom and had some pouches laying around. I knew I wanted to use the attachment points on the rear subframe and found the perfect molle panel to do it!
    Molle Panel (headrest version):

    Kriega US-5 drypack:

    or

    Adventure Spec Pouches (warning, these are pricey! I got a helluva deal when I bought my magadans, I promise):

    Alternatives to the Adv Spec pouches I'm intrigued by, but haven't tried, and are much cheaper:

    I went the rear rack and tail bag route on mine.

    Excellent idea and some very good follow up comments.
    I was considering something similar out of alloy, but slightly bigger to hang soft panniers. Don't care what it looks like, I'm tooo old for that, but this gives strength and direction to my idea.
    Thanks everyone else for other great ideas.

    Thanks for the video! I'm going to use this to be saddle bag supports! You may want to move the bottom bracket screws to be button heads or they may wear through the bag attached.

      Good idea! I was just using what I had for those, didn't want to go back to the hardware store a third time that day haha

    I ended up putting a Vagabond cargo rack on my grom, followed by a black milk crate. I then put Molle pouches on all for sides of the milk crate. It's a great grocery getter and I can carry a lot of gear for longer rides.

      Gotta love the utility of a milk crate, I have one on my CT90. I didn't want to go with a rack on the Grom because I felt like they all stick out so far back and the look of it just never sat quite right with me. Even though my license plate bracket sticks out pretty far, it's visually not very heavy and kind of works, where I feel like I wouldn't like the rack sitting that far back. I may still end up buying one to try some day.

      @@SpencerDesmarais Look into the Vagabond rack, I think they look better than the rest. I've picked up the back half using the rack, so they are pretty strong.

    I like how that turned out, would it fit with the factory turn signals ?

      That is a great question. I'll have to look this weekend and see how the original mount points line up. It might be pretty tight, but I *THINK* it would clear.

    Is there a specific reason you chose the plastic over the aluminum alloy? Do you think it would rattle? I just am about to copy yours and wonder if I should go with the plastic and reinforce as you’ve done? Thanks

    • @SpencerDesmarais
      @SpencerDesmarais  8 місяців тому

      I don't think I saw an appropriately sized, reasonably priced aluminum version when I bought mine. Plastic one was cheap and the right size so I went for it! I'd imagine aluminum you would not need to reinforce, maybe just large washers on either side to help spread the clamping force of the bolt out?

    Will this work for both sides?

    • @SpencerDesmarais
      @SpencerDesmarais  Рік тому

      I would think so, yeah! Only issue could be the stock exhaust coming up and hitting it. The holes are there for it, though.

    I WOULD LOVE TO HAVE HARD CASE PANNIERS, THEY MAKE THEM FOR THE HONDA REBEL WHICH WOULD BE GREAT IF THEY COULD BE CONVERTED TO WORK FOR THE GROM! HAVE YOU SEEN THE HARD CASES THAT IM TALKING ABOUT ?
