- How to build a cat tower that's over five feet tall! I built this modern style cat house for my parent's new cat while I was visiting over the holidays. I would wrap that tallest post, they really like to stretch and scratch at the same time. Mine will climb up to the top using that one post too. But I’m nit picking, excellent job!
I was thinking the same thing. The low scratching posts won't get used because they like to stand up on hind feet and stretch. the section of my scratching post with the most 'damage' is about 18 to 20 inches up.
I was going to say that and carpet the whole thing. But cats are different and maybe his likes this.

My first pet was a tortoise shell calico cat named Polly. She was such a special and smart cat. We had her for 20 years. I shed a tear when you announced the name and she looks just like our Polly. 🥲 we miss her so much.
Tortoiseshell and Calico are two different color patterns of cats. Tortoiseshells (Torties) contain three different colors, but are intermixed in a way that resembles the shell of a tortoise. Typically, their coats contain a predominantly blue base and do no have distinct patches, but rather intermix with each other while remaining identifiable. Calicos contain three different colors as well, but have a primarily white base with distinct color patches. Of course there are varying degrees of each pattern, but those are the basic differences. Not trying to be pedantic here, just trying to educate.
Fun Fact: Both color patterns are on almost exclusively female cats. In the extremely rare instance that a male cat contains a tri-color pattern, it is almost always sterile. This has to do with dominant and recessive genes and the color orange being tied exclusively to the X chromosome.
Our tortie is going to be 16 years old this year.

Where's the pdf?
I have a big and tall 21lb male Ragamuffin whose feet are almost the size of mine! Also have another rescue who is a 10 lb female Siamese. I bought a cat tree when the male was around 3 yrs old and only 12 lbs. It did not last 6 months. It was carpet over particle board so the screws did not hold it together. I kept gluing and repairing it until I have up. I think this design just might work and last a while. I agree about making covers for the pillows. Your mom has probably already figured that out by now lol

That cat tree is beautiful. Your projects are always so well done. If the cat doesn't show interest, you can put some catnip on it. I had to with my 4 cats. Now they love it.

Is Poly short for "Varathane 1 qt. Clear Satin Water-Based Polyurethane"?
"Poly" is typically short for either any polyurethane finish, or a polyamorous relationship lifestyle. I believe it's the former in this particular case.

I haven't been able to find. Its to bad he doesn't stand by his word to his followers.
Also, it shows you can make cat towers into something stylish. The ones covered in carpet are good too, but not as aesthetically pleasing as this one.
you shouldn't use synthetic rope for scratching posts.
Looks cute. The cats want use the bottom rope much. Sorry your furniture will have to do for scratching. Top bed is nice for perching, but not for sleeping - which is what cats like to spend most of their time doing.

Nice! My cats prefer 2 holes in a box/house instead of one. They feel trapped if there's only 1.

This isn't bad, but I actually like the style that Mau Pets has a bit more since it uses a more natural wood on the poles, but that's more of an aesthetic think my cats could care less they use my target shelves to climb most of the time forget anything I give them. Assholes.
