I enjoyed watching this review. I own a Shangri-La Jr, though not with its own amp, but with a modded Stax amp. I agree with most of your impressions on the Jr. I personally think the Jr is a bit bass light, though with decent punchiness, but that may be due to the amp I'm using. I listen to a lot of EDM with female vocalists, and the Jr does that very well in my opinion. It does make the vocals have a bit of a thinner and breathy sound, but I generally like that effect. The treble is one of the smoothest I've heard while also being well-elevated and extended. It's a nice, open, and airy sound that I loved from the first time I heard it. I also agreed with your take on the CRBN; I thought its midrange was a bit too shouty, and the bass, while it had more heft and punch, was a bit too punchy for my tastes. For the aspects of sound that I value, the SGL Jr was my preferred option, though the CRBN is a good headphone regardless. Edit: One more thing is that my SGL Jr does not have that cable twisting that yours has. The cables between the split and the earcups are flat and smooth, so it seems that what you experienced is some sort of either wear (possible if its a demo unit) or a manufacturing defect.
Fantastic, loved hearing it works with EDM. Your observation that Susvara scales more with higher end gear seems to be the consensus amongst reviewers. Looking forward to more.
How does the HE1000se compare to these headphones? As much as I love certain aspects of it, it already sounds considerably leaner to e.g. the Focal Utopia ; I'm not sure if i'd want my headphones any leaner than that. And it appears that all of the headphones in this review offer this type of sounds. Except the Susvara perhaps? Although I'd imagine the HEKse's bass will be more present.
I’m not impressed with HiFiMan designs. I have a pair of Organics and I find them to be annoying to wear. Sound wise, just so,so. No big deal. They do bass well and that’s it.
I enjoyed this comprehensive review and comparison. Thanks
i actually think this was a good distance 10/10 review keep up the good work :)
could be your longest review for a single product, hats off, sir
Thank you, Brian for this nice review/overview. ❤

Excellent review and comparisons!
Great review, glad to hear that it works well for edm
Oh, Shangri-La Senior is waiting in the background... we are waiting for the review of it too )
shangri la sr 😍😍
srl also scales so high. upgrading cables, power, source/server, etc made a big difference

in positive view it doesnt need really expensive system to maximize it, compared to red halo for instance
You should really give the STAX 007s a chance. The mk1s ideally but just in general I think they provide the best overall experience
its good, very accurate, i like it, more accurate than red halo

I think the Hekse has a bit more subbass than Shang Jr, yes. I think it also stages bigger. Resolution is a probably a push.
Have you heard about the new HE1000 V2 Stealth? Are planning to review it and make an even HEKier of a comparison?
Yes. It is a thing. My guess is Hifiman will send me one when they're ready to. Is it available in the US yet?
@@wavetheorysound I'm in Italy so don't know about that. Here it's available, in Germany too
All electro stats have tube amps, right? I think it has to do with the monstrous voltage swings required by stats. Not sure.
There are several solid state energizers.
I think this is a stand for the he1000 series, not the Susvara shape. It should fit perfect your v2
Possibly. It came in the massive case with the Shang Jr set so 🤷
@@wavetheorysound yeah it seems illogical, but the stand they are selling for 99$ is for the egg shaped hifimans and fits perfectly
Harman curve requires a bass shelf, I doubt the Shangri-la senior has that?
Older Harman variations had less of a bass shelf. The Shangs were designed probably upwards of 10 years ago now.
Warwick I think the bravura would be the closest at this price point.
I would love to hear Bravura and compare it to Shang Jr. I've reached out to Warwick and gotten no response.
ZMF Caldera soon?
Wutz the freq ranges sir?.. Ohm?
Can you try the headphones with a different amp eg. Mjolnir Audio Carbon, KGSSHV?
I used LTA Z10e also.
@@wavetheorysound How different did they sound?
Has anyone done impulse response and CSD on this?
Look at you trying to be sneaky. I'm on to you. 😝
THICC ! ! !
@ReviewsBy-WaveTheory Alright buddy, what did I win?
@ReviewsBy-WaveTheory Fantastic! How does this work?
@@jemenizzreal WaveTheory here, that was a scammer. I reported them as soon as I saw.
