  • 🎸 Hang out with me while I prepare for a Jazz Guitar gig, both physically and mentally.
Most great players have some sort of routine they go through to ensure success in a live playing situation. I believe this is deeply connected to what made them great in the first place.
👀 In this session I'm giving you a look behind the curtain into my own preparation for a gig I had later on in the day. It draws on advice I've received (either from books and interviews, or in person) from the likes of Jim Hall, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Ben Monder, Mick Goodrick and a great local classical player and teacher called Gunter Herbig. Along with some of the Music Magus approach I've been developing for the last 15 years.
Some of it ain't pretty, but I thought that I would be interesting for people to see what really goes on in a practice session without the retakes and editing.
    Tunes played:
    01 'Summertime' (Gershwin)
    02 'Out of Nowhere' (Green/Heyman)
    03 'There Wont' (Paul Dyne)
👍 Please remember to hit the like button, I really appreciate it.
And leave me a comment if you'd like to hear more about any of the things I touched on in the video.
🍀 All the best with your music,
    Aleister 🤠🤘
