I have always liked her delicate and disarming manner with the edgy punchlines. One of my favorites was when she was sitting on the couch talking to the Tonight Show host (I think Carson, but maybe it was Leno) and she had recently gotten married and said, "We're thinking about having a child ... or maybe just getting a dog. it depends on whether we want to ruin our carpets or ruin our lives."
She also said in stand up... We wanted to hear the pitter patter of tiny feet.. So we got a dog... It costs less and its got more feet

Has been a long time since I saw her act. Lovely lady and fun comedy.
No politics, anger or foul language.
And such a sweet smile too.
So many of those young comedians Rodney had on stage bitd were absolutely hilarious. I rolled when I first saw Rita and it was this bit. Also Sam, Bob Nelson, Roseanne, Bob Saget. He seemed to have an eye for talent and gave a lot of young comics a boost during his career.
I remember when it first aired. STILL funny after all these years!

Rita - A breath of fresh air amid the verbal, vile stench of most comics - male or female... she isn't nasty about anything in her act - no obscene /dirty language , presents herself nice , not hostile or political...and not dressed like a slut. Plus she is easy on the eyes - A Thinking Person's comedienne - with veiled positive meanings to her comedy material ..not mean - spirited or cruel , spiteful jabs at one's religious preference, sexual preference or serious issues that can cause death like domestic violence - she knows where to draw the line(A.I.D.S. alleged 'jokes' , etcetera) The whole family can listen and enjoy her comedy and It's SO refreshing - and she speaks well , can verbally understand her(some comics go too fast or mumble , can't understand what they say sometimes). Where is this funny girl now? Unlike Ellen she can't be promoted because of her hetro lifestyle that reflects the "old school " mentality that most folks are straight , which apparently is not politically correct. So grateful for these videos. Rodney's Place and Dangerfields were venues of freedom and respect ; long gone and sorely missed.
