Sam Andrekus There needs to be a suspension. He endangered Micic. I think Micic hyper extended his elbow in the finals because he still had trauma in his arm from the Desanto "gentle Kimura"
Normally I’d be pissed but that win got him to all American status so I’d be pretty happy too
He reminds me of the old staying: don't get mad, don't get even--get ahead. And he did. Best thing for DeSanto is to simply be DQ'd, let him think about it. And his coach should have him ride the pine, let him think about that. Let him see HE does not rule this sport, then make him ASK to be re-instated and see to it he gives his word this crap is over--and one more time and put him off the team for good. His coach owes that to the opponents that could be injured seriously for life. And Coach owes that to himself because IF this happens again, the coach will share the blame. Coach seems more worried not to "put a tag" on DeSantos, probably the last thing he should worry about.
An easy fix for desanto opponents. Get your head position. Keep him off the right arm. After that he will just become another head butting iowa brands boy. I bet he'll crawl off the mat like brands did at the us open on his next loss. Micic made him look like an entitled idiot out there once he adjusted to the F carry. And that dumbass cartwheel made him look even stupider. Go micic a true sport and class act.

I'd really like the NCAA to instruct the 2nd official to be more assertive. The 2nd official, in this match, saw something harmful happening and just pointed -- he needs to be able to dive in and stop the action without waiting on the primary official. Desanto should have been DQ'd.

There seems to be several moves these days DESIGNED to cause injury, that is why I pulled my boys out. I'm fine with "rip and tear", meaning hammering a chicken wing and half, cranking em on over, but some of these movements seem like (?) they want to break something, even if the opponent does what you want. Not sure that is a good thing for the sport--I am WAY out of date, so I ask, am I wrong? And--take it easy, I'm not trying to fight, just asking you young wrestlers how you see it, believe me, I would be glad to be very wrong.

The sport has always been potentially dangerous, it really comes down to the athlete following the rules.
Mark Schultz broke a guy's arm with a Kimura in the 1984 Olympics and was disqualified In this video below...

And there are plenty of other examples from the 80s if you look.
I would say if Alexander karelin wanted to kill people on the mat he probably could have broken their necks or paralyze them but he was a good Sportsman and only broke one guy's neck lol.
The only thing that is slightly different is the funk-rolls some people have been getting knee injuries, like Jason Nolf had.
But even the funk roll has been around for over 25 years in lower frequency.
The sport is fine the way it is it's just not for everyone.
As for Desanto, I don't even think people realize how flagrant and dangerous the move he was doing is; he wasn't just trying to hit a Camorra, he was also trying to cinch up a reverse-Crucifix Neck-Crank which is illegal even in BJJ Jiu Jitsu.

There are 0 moves designed to cause injury...0...moves are supposed to be uncomfortable or hurt even, that's how they work without being super dangerous...really the refs below the college level need to be trained better...most injuries in illegal moves come from refs not being in position to see when it becomes potentially dangerous or just being plain ignorant to what constitutes an illegal or potentially dangerous situation...the moves themselves. The legal ones. Aren't the issue
