The PC-Engine/TurboGraFX is probably my favorite console. It has tons of great SHMUPs, my favorite game genre. The reason why you want a CD-ROM for the PC-Engine is that there are a LOT of CD exclusive games for it. The Cartridges, while having a unique format are somewhat restricted memory wise. So a lot of the later games for the system are CD exclusive. There are several 'System Cards'. I think the only difference is the amount of memory they provide and I also think they are backwards compatible. There is also a CD-ROM emulator, comparable to the Everdrive, but it is not cheap. Not sure if you can say the PC-Engine is a 8-Bit console. The CPU surely is 8 Bit. Actually it's the same CPU that the NES has, just clocked much higher. But the entire graphics subsystem is 16 bit. So maybe you can call it a 8/16 bit hybrid. Honesly I don't care! I just call it an awesome console which can surely compete with the SNES or the MegaDrive. And if you like shooters, it is definitely a better choice than the SNES.
PC-Engine is absolutely amazing! I'm so sad it wasn't so popular in Ukraine back in the days in my childhood! Thanks for the video! It seemed I've just been playing those games with you! 😁
I remember seeing this in the gaming magazines and it was simply the epitome of gaming coolness. Like something from the future. But I never saw a single PC Engine growing up in Los Angeles, CA, and come to think of it, if I ever saw a TurboGrafx-16 it was only in its box, at the store.
My mom's best friend bought me one when i was a kid..Best believe i was among few in Paris France with such a device. So thank you once again Mme Miyake T.
With the resurgence of these retro consoles and games, i would love to see a modern retro console similar to the Evercade that uses cards similar to the PC Engines games. I feel not only could they get bigger games on them now unlike the PC Engine, but there are a collection thing they could do, with artwork they could put on each card. They could possibly even have attachments that could unlock different features for each game or could have the artwork of each card tell an overall story thus giving reasons to collect all the game cards even if you might not like the game or games each card had
Thank you very much for this video! Builds up my hype even more ’cause I bought pce interface/cdrom/pce itself few days ago. Waiting packages from Japan and even MORE excited after watching this.
there are rumors that there is a pal modified turbografx 16 in europe, i don't know if it's true or not. there would be at least 2000 pieces in existence
The CD Hu-cards added extra ram to the system, the arcade ones had something like 2 mega bytes of ram if memory serves me well, wich for the time this came out was simply nuts :D Sadly, not many games where made for the arcade hu-cards, but Shapphire is awesome. It was officially re-released a couple of years ago
OMG! OMG! That's so awesome! Is that briefcase legit or is it from Aliexpress? I would love something like that. Good review and cool video Wicked!👉🏼🙂👈
Blood Gear is awesome! It's so good that I played through the entire game even though I can't read any Japanese. The super cd system card is pretty much all you will need as it will play like 97% of all the CD games made for the system. The few arcade CD card games aren't really worth the cost of the Arcade Pro cd system card in my opinion.
I got the same setup the other month from a friend . Great system with tons of great games The sega cd had hardware improvements like scaling . Not sure if Cd rom on pc engine added any extra grunt to the system
Everdrive it pure for the games on cart. Maybe .... just maybe we can indeed use the flashcard for upgrades. Same with everdrive and loading in Bios files for the Sega CD. It's interesting idea.
Package from Amsterdam :-)
and made in Japan
@@TheKayliedGamerChannel-UA-cam and repaired in Holland
Yup a Package from you 🤪
And shipped to wherever this guy is at lol

PC engine is such a great system. This is a very cool option, never seen this
The PC Engine is an underrated console and it deserves much better to this day!
No one underestimated. However, it did not attract much attention because it was too expensive than other devices.😅
I had the American version plus a modded Japanese version plus about 200 + games . I loved it . Favorite system ever!

Arcade type games on PCENGINE destroyed all western home computer ports during the late 80's
You must have forgotten about the Amiga computers.....
Not there yet 😅
agreed, the Amiga was great but we had much more fun with the Pc-Engine and later on the Sega Megadrive ;-)

Very enjoyable video. I always thought of the PC Engine as Sega’s little Brother. Love them both.
The PC Engine is one of my favorite systems. I have the DUO and Core Grafx and want this version also.

I have the Turbo Duo, it still works great and love the games on it.

I was really hoping this came with the GD-Rom. That way you can play the games off of an SD card, and do not need the system cd card.
Playing the pc engine on that screen is nasty work

It is true, Telegames distributed it - only the TG16 with no official Euro CD, however I think the USA CD unit can be used.
@@TheKayliedGamerChannel-UA-cam Yeah you can use anything from the US TG if I'm not mistaken.
You was trying to load a Turbo Duo CD on there, For the best compatibility you'd want a Turbo Duo vs CD system here
I think an Analogue Duo might fit into this briefcase...

Wicked PC Engine time

Its legit, NEC used to be on crack and made loads of different crazy designs of their consoles
@port187 thanks!👍
Yeah, I figured this wasn't a cheapo Chinese thing, probably made in Japan decades ago
@joezar33 oh it has to be. Too cool for them Chinese lol!🤭
Wow dit is awesome!
Having a card to boot up the PC engine CD is such a weird decision, the Sega CD never needed such a thing.
Beautiful

Why didn`t you play R-Type and Castlevania? Castlevania has some very cool music on the Cd-rom and R-type was one the best conversions for me :)
couldnt you use the everdrive to emulate the cards you need for the certain games??
Everdrive it pure for the games on cart.

@@WickedGamerCollector If you have a Turbo Everdrive Pro with the Super CD Rom² bios, it acts as an arcade card on real hardware.
Isn't that just a Turbo Grafx 16?
The Western version of the PC Engine is the TG16. However the form factor of the PC Engine is much smaller and the HuCard games are region locked.
i have one ❤
16 bit
The endless battle... 8bit... 16bit... 😂
8 Bit. The main cpu determined that always, and it has an 8 Bit cpu. It is not at all 16.
