He is a good singer. No doubt. He sang it well. Almost perfect. He missed the chance to just catch everyone's heart. People sing this song in competition because of one reason and one reason only,because the insanely high note in the chorus 'Dream On'.. to prove ourself. In this song that is the only part that is crazy hard to sing and not everyone can do even with intense training. If you didnt sing that part then everyone can do. What is special? Yeah exactly,nothing special. So this performance not special. It is just a good performance like any thousands others happened in singing competitions. There is a lot so not special. But there is very few that hit the high note. If you can find thousands,im sure you cant because there very few,i will agree that this is a special petformance. I came to this video because i saw some comment mentioned in other video which Travis Comier was performing that this performance gave them goosebump and how good it is. I find myself here dissapointed that there is nothing special here and didnt gave goosebump but it did a very good job dissapointing me. Im Malaysian ok so im not bias toward any of them. Im a music composer,sound engineer,musician and singer. From my knowledge and my experience,i can say this performance is good but there is nothing special about it. Travis' is better. Seriously dont waste your time here just look for other better performance. You will thank me.
Music is not about hitting high notes, its about transmitting the energy and emotions behind each word you sing! It is considered one of the best covers of this song for me is even better than original simply he made the song his, not copy of the original and going for everything like in original! MJ and Whitney Huston are considered the best singers worldwide not for their ability to hit high notes both of them had not wide range! Or for covering songs but for their emotions that they brought during their performances! Florent is like them he can sing and make songs his not imitating the originals!
