That’s not intuition it’s color theory. I do believe intuition is a great tool in many other things in life but this is so precise it takes lots of studying to get color theory like this correct

it's not about talent but the amount of experience and passion towards that thing he does, passion and dedication can do miracles. He dedicated himself to what he loves for decades. and the result of all that knowledge and experience he got shown up in his work.
In China it is quite common, there are delivery drivers that deliver just the right amount of color to the painter. I actually had a minor incident with a roof damage. The mixer drove by, looked at the roof and mixed the color perfectly. Couldn't see anything after finishing. I uploaded the video of the mixer last year.

I can do this too anyone that’s been in the autobody paint industry for at least 5-10 or more years can also do this also it also depends on how it’s sprayed.

When I was in college (Graphic Design) we had a class called "Applied Color". One of our assignments was to mix gouache to match to paint swatch sheets from the paint store. This was very tricky and difficult, but in hindsight, I can see that it taught me how to see the different colors that made up a certain color. I love that I can see that now.
How much of each colours to mix in is science. I learned this in scool. It's not very hard to see if the colour he want is cool or warm. Like mix in yellow or red.

Met an old chinese man like this today who fixes watches in a clinic. I was just intrigued to see him do his work so smoothly yet so quick. Years of skill for sure and a beautiful thing to see in person. Its like a musician playing an instrument.

Every paint store has someone who can do this, and if you were paying attention you would have noticed the colour charts behind him. He has RECIPES for each colour. This is not magic, or a special ability. This is common as hell.

My father works making T-shirts. Back when he started before the big industrial printers he uses were invented, they had to make the different shades manually, carefully measuring how much he needed to add just from glancing at it. Nowadays its a technique very few people know, and even fewer master it like this man.

I paint cars for a living and have to mix my own paint, a lot of times using a camera made for matching colors. This man is as accurate as a camera because a couple drops too much of a red or black could change the whole face/flop. What he did was amazing and shows years and years of experience. That color to me looked like one called Old Blue Eyes..
I mixed colors too and because of that. I think its fake. I mean look how he is mixing it. He dont even use a scale. No way he mixed the right amounts pf colors together, even if he knows what colors and how much he has to mix...

As someone who works for a paint company (Sherwin Williams) I gotta say, that’s pretty damn impressive. We have machines to read colors and make formulas for it. Edit: since everyone is apparently dissing on my company I’d just like to point out that the technology is not perfect, no technology is. But in the case of my store, our color matches with our machine are successful 99.9% of the time. Often times, the trick is to cut the formula back to 90%, then it comes out perfect.

I used to work at a cabinet shop and the lead man in the finish room could do this. I was always amazed by it. didn't need a color code, he could look at it, start putting drops of different tints into a mixing cup and would get it spot on. then once he knew he did have it correct he would create a bog batch so he also knew how to adapt that to larger amounts of base paint and still have it come out exactly the same. He was pretty badass!

My grandson can do that. Also if you ask him what does a particular note sound like he can make the sound as easy as if he were repeating lyrics. He says he can recognise notes the way we recognise colours

If a customer comes in with a paint chip off of their wall asking you to match the color, most paint places have a machine that *sort of* works, but almost never gets it dead on, which is where this man's skills would come in handy. SOURCE: I worked at the sherwin-williams paint store for a few years and people would come in all the time saying "yeah lowes or home depot cant match my color, can you try?" Surprisingly, over my time working there, I picked up the ability to look at a color and tell you "oh theres this much deep gold in it, this much maroon, this much magenta..." and we'd be able to match the customers color. Though I wasnt as good or as quick as this guy, it was fascinating realizing this was a skill you could pick up and hone, rather than an ability you simply were or were not born with.

I paint cars for a living and have to mix my own paint, a lot of times using a camera made for matching colors. This man is as accurate as a camera because a couple drops too much of a red or black could change the whole face/flop. What he did was amazing and shows years and years of experience.
That color to me looked like one called Old Blue Eyes..
I mixed colors too and because of that. I think its fake. I mean look how he is mixing it. He dont even use a scale. No way he mixed the right amounts pf colors together, even if he knows what colors and how much he has to mix...

As a detail artist for over 50 years, this is a valuable skill. One, in my case, develops the ability to do this after doing hundreds of paintings.

As someone who works for a paint company (Sherwin Williams) I gotta say, that’s pretty damn impressive. We have machines to read colors and make formulas for it.
Edit: since everyone is apparently dissing on my company I’d just like to point out that the technology is not perfect, no technology is. But in the case of my store, our color matches with our machine are successful 99.9% of the time. Often times, the trick is to cut the formula back to 90%, then it comes out perfect.
And they still come out wrong sometimes lol

This is how paints were mixed in the past, but this guy still does it.
I used to work at a cabinet shop and the lead man in the finish room could do this. I was always amazed by it. didn't need a color code, he could look at it, start putting drops of different tints into a mixing cup and would get it spot on. then once he knew he did have it correct he would create a bog batch so he also knew how to adapt that to larger amounts of base paint and still have it come out exactly the same. He was pretty badass!

If a customer comes in with a paint chip off of their wall asking you to match the color, most paint places have a machine that *sort of* works, but almost never gets it dead on, which is where this man's skills would come in handy.
SOURCE: I worked at the sherwin-williams paint store for a few years and people would come in all the time saying "yeah lowes or home depot cant match my color, can you try?"
Surprisingly, over my time working there, I picked up the ability to look at a color and tell you "oh theres this much deep gold in it, this much maroon, this much magenta..." and we'd be able to match the customers color.
Though I wasnt as good or as quick as this guy, it was fascinating realizing this was a skill you could pick up and hone, rather than an ability you simply were or were not born with.
