Dear Diane, I wondered where your ra, ra's and pom pom's had gone when I first started watching the video - then you spoke about thumbs down. I dont think there should be a thumbs down option available. If people dont like something there is no obligation to be here. For the life of me, I don't understand why anyone would leave grumpy comments on (of all things) your personal style choices! It's not exactly a controversial topic or point of view, LOL. I'm a t4. My dad was a minister who tried to make me a t1. That soooo didn't work. 😂 He tried pushing me into singing on stage, etc. which had zero chance of succeeding; even if I could get up the nerve, I can't sing. Really. Nobody wants to hear me sing except my cats, not even my grandchild. My mother, on the other hand, wanted me to sit down, shut up, and pretend like I didn't exist. That didn't work out well, either; I'm much too opinionated to shut up. Oh well, here I am 60 years later and I survived. I run my own business, spout my opinions when the occasion calls for it (oh, my long-suffering hubby), and sing to my cats.

I can absolutely understand anyone who is worried about being categorized, but just as minimizing objects in your life is freeing, honing a sense of self and joy-style using any tool that you personally find helpful can be freeing. Diane's voice and energy make it clear that she is not feeling diminished but truly released by this process. Bless everyone on the paths that make them feel happier. : )
I think your new style matches the personality and vibrance you have in your channel :) Honestly I can't tell you how much your channel has been helpful for me. I suffer from PTSD/Fibromyalgia and its super hard to do the daily things that make my life work well (like routines) but I use your videos to help motivate me to keep going, even when I'm tired (and save some energy for self care which is completely new for me!).

I think you always look amazing! I have followed Flylady since 2003. I always get dressed to shoes, but I was not putting on makeup or working about looking nice. Since finding you I have spent the last week taking time to dress nicely and put on makeup. I really find my days more productive because I feel more productive! Taking care of yourself really makes you prepared to take care of others! Thanks for taking time to cheer us on!

I am new to Dressing Your Truth although not due to your videos. Just wanted to say that I think you're right to re-type yourself a 1, and I just love your new look. For me it has been very liberating--rather than confining--to dress according to type. When I didn't have a style, I had chaos. I would buy everything I liked and tried to dress all 4 types at once, never knowing why some of the pieces I bought would stay in my closet as I stubbornly avoided wearing them. What a waste of money!
Well. In my opinion, negative comments, etc. completely miss the point of what you are doing for us: modeling through your own discoveries/journey. DYT happens to be one avenue of self discovery, self work... just plain having fun exploring new things. You always say, do what works for you. I love what you share and especially how you mix it up. You have made such a difference in people's lives (mine included). I am endlessly fascinated with it all--the flylady system and your sharing how it works for you, what's for dinner, your "taking us with you" trip/visits (still remembering some Christmas trips in Copenhagen last year) and so much more! Hygge! Who doesn't love all that we've learned about that! Thank you, dear girl :)
I'm coming back here after first learning of this system from you and these videos. I tried to "type" myself and then dismissed it all. I have been forcing myself into a type 2 because I wanted to bring peace to my life but that has only caused more chaos because that is not who I am. I, too, am a 1/4 and I am reacquainting myself with your journey to help me on mine. Thank you for sharing your experience!

I must admit your old look reminded me of an old primary teacher i used to have. She was my favourite teacher ever and was always dressed to perfection. Shed even change her outfit before the school inspectors arrived to be even more perfect. However i love your new playful whimsical fun loving look. It fits with your dancing on tables, skinny dipping personality. Mrs clark (bless her soul) would never have done either of those things.

Love your new hairdo! I discovered DYT through you, and it's really great. I don't fully subscribe to all of it, but it's been so insightful. I'm a dominant Type 2, with a secondary Type 4. It explains why I'm so introverted and such a loner. I love my own company, and so much of my energy is inward. I love greys and so many Type 2 items. I was shocked to find out that my favorite pendant is a brushed silver teardrop shape which is classic Type 2! Thanks for introducing me to it.

I’m doing DYT too and I’m a type 1 thought I was a secondary 4 but thinking I’m a secondary 2 now, I’m enjoying exploring my type 1 and do actually feel lighter and more positive, 😊

I started listening to your video and suddenly felt the sadness that I stopped dancing on tables because I went too serious into my secondary type 4. And my straight hair… After being truthbombed by Carol a few months ago, I am slowly regaining my real self.

"It takes too much effort to make it work" Yes. So true. the wrong type colors can be lovely but they take so much work! After doing DYT my life is so much simpler and my makeup bag much lighter. I am a T4 who thought she was a T1 :) I never wore black but I do now! Dressing true to our type is so much easier and fun. Thank you. I enjoyed listening to your story!

We accomplished a lot of garage today , napped , and now we are going out to dinner! We have not been out to dinner since the beginning of July for hubs birthday.

I was encouraged to go through the free quiz after your last video on DYT. The idea of knowing what colors best suit me personally and being able to simplify my wardrobe from that information really intrigued me. you make several great points. i remember when i was finding my way with my style and colors and thought i was missing but later when i look back to photos, i knew what actually worked. we get lost and we find our way back to our authentic selves. xx

Hi Diane, I’m new to the fly lady and your channel, and I’m loving it! I found dressing your truth about six years ago. Initially I thought I was a T2, then changed my mind and exchanged it for the T1 package. I just don’t care for the T1 colors but love black, haha! I do always have to have matching shoes and bags...maybe I have some T4 too! Might have to dig out my book and revisit it.

Life is suppose to have fun aspects to it. We should have the capacity to hear ideas without passing judgment or thinking someone has joined a cult just because they have new ideas or ideas that differ from our own. However we can only control ourselves, or how we react to opinions of others- its a two sided adventure. Some may like it, some may not, don't worry about it, this isn't affecting anybodies ability to survive. Each person connects to their energy (its a journey we are all on and some do not realize it), may let it shine, shine on those who can see it, and blind others- Diane shine non the less, and open your hands and let the rest go. Relax, you are inspiring for those that can see. Peace to you gentle soul.
You're right. Whatever someone thinks about us doesn't affect our ability to survive. I think social media especially makes people feel their opinion is rare gold, that their comments - judgemens - will be met with awed amazement. People can uplift each other, but many, looking for admiration, tear others down.

I love the way you show and embody the real DYT process in your videos featuring it. It is a process, and many questions and so much self-reflection comes up. It can be challenging and uncomfortable. Love your hair. It is so good that you know your style because everything looks so good on you. I dress up almost everyday and I am good at coordinating my jewelry. I make most of what I wear and when a friend likes something that I have made i know what to make her. That's probably why I have lots of friends and it keeps me busy. I don't sell anything that I make. Love your videos.💞
Also you are SO a type 1- where's that sparkly golden faux fur holiday vest you like? It was in a prior declutter post- AND the elf sweater! Yes definitely type one!
