My reaction having watched so many of these videos now is Pavlovian in that from the moment the seller started unrolling his print, I immediately said OUT LOUD, ‘It’s gonna cost to frame that!’ 😆
When you go to a pawn shop, you should expect 50-60% of the retail cost. If you want retail price, you sell it privately to another person. But when you sell something to a store, that store literally has to buy it at 50% or a little more, to make their money. But the thing is, Cory went too low out the gate. I know its a bargaining tactic to go low, then work your way up. But i agree it came off as disrespectful. He should have started at 3 grand at a minimum, or 3.5k. But 2.5k is a bit ridiculous. But like i always said, i dont get why people go to pawn shops unless they need money quick. Selling stuff, especially niche stuff (like art) - takes time. It takes connections. Even auctions, you are going to pay them 10-15% of the final sale (which often negates the extra money they would have saved). But if your art doesnt sell at the minimum you set it at, then you still have to pay the auction fee. Still have to ship your item back (or hand carry it with you. Paying for travel expenses). You have to re-list it again at another auction, pay even more. Or you have to spend time online or in local places trying to find a private buyer. Even then, it could take a year +. So the reason people go to pawn shops, is to get money quick. Or because they dont want to do the work it takes to sell something. I think people underestimate how hard it is to sell things. Most people sell and buy basic goods. Talking about used computers, TVs, game consoles. Cars and appliances. Most people don’t buy things like art pieces, or rare coins. What i do think is a little messed up, is Rick’s show pretty much pays for all the items. Given the amount of money they are paid for the TV show alone, it pretty much pays for everything they buy at the store. And due to Rick being super famous, he has connections to people all around the world. Talking about billionaires, celebrities, people in niche fields (like art collectors). So given the fact that hes getting paid per episode + he has all those connections, I do feel that he should pay these people on the 60-65% side of things. Instead of going 45-50%. Which i often see.
Feel.s yes the moment you slouch down and become all disappointed and lose all your selling power they pounce on you with a ridiculously low price and act firm, just pack up and leave.
I can't believe these comment sections are STILL getting these TIRED SAME corny joke of Rick making a deal for $100 bill or $1, for less money or paperclips..
amen to that.. all i hear is the same ol stupid jokes.. I have you 5.. its worth 100.. i will give you 6 etc etc.. like i come on.. same all crap.. I like the ppl who complain are the ones that will never actually pay for the items that are showed in this clips or has no knowledge of how a retail shop works.
The seller makes a negotiating error when he asked Corey the question, "Are you fixed on three?". Corey can respond by saying something along the lines, "No...I'm not really fixed on three, how about thirty five hundred?" or "Yes, I am absolutely fixed on three". When Corey was asked the question did anyone expect him to respond by saying "No" he wasn't really fixed on three even though he just said he was? The seller put Corey in a spot where Corey had to "absolutely" solidify his top end price at the last price he offered. The seller could have said, "I'm sorry, I can't do three.....don't you think this piece would look great great on a wall in your shop?" That would have kept Corey talking and created an avenue for Corey to bump up his offer.
If you wanna sell bikes, sell it to corey If you wanna sell books or arts, sell it to rick If you wanna sell cool toys or running shoes, sell it to chum.
What annoys me the most is they act like it costs $4,000 to frame a picture, and it's just such a burden to hang the thing on the wall, which they never do anyways so idk why they even mention it. Most of the artwork goes straight to auction, most of the time without a frame too in case the buyer wants to further inspect it or use their own.
All of you wanting Corey to pay $4000 or $5000....what you don't realize is that Corey is not guaranteed to get the retail price of $6000. He's probably going to take the first $5000 offer that comes through the door. And that's after a few hundred for framing, and after it sits around for a few months.
*Customer brings in a current $100 bill* I'll give you $5. It's worth $100! I'll go $6, it's going to sit for a while, and I'm taking all the risk here...
Just goes to show the price people are willing to take for convenience, that's the only thing these guys offer that you can't find elsewhere in more abundance. Take the print to an auction and you're looking at $7-8,000 after the 30% cut. You just have to find the right buyer. You have to remember too that these so called experts are just estimating what they think the piece would sell for. There's no way to accurately quantify the volatility of the audience, individuals vested interest in a specific piece, and the overall market within an auction house... I'd be willing to bet that a lot of pieces, especially the artwork, goes for much higher than what they appraise it to be. Even after expenses are taken out.
Why does Corey shake hands like he is reaching over a fence?
Its a leftover habit from when he was a lot bigger and would swing his arm around to avoid hitting himself
@@NateTheGreat1684 good logical answer. Too bad there aren't many others who can apply the same and instead look for a hurr durr moment.
I always thought.. cause he had a wedgie
Because that's the way he shakes hands
I honestly think it's to avoid touching the merchandise below the handshake.

Love Leroy Neiman's work, always loved the Rocky painting he did at the end of Rocky III
As soon as he said 2500 I would've rolled up my print and left. That was disrespectful.

$2500 is an insult to the art community

Cory “nah, I will come up some more”

_Everyone avoids touching the piece_
*Confirms deal*
_Immediately touches the piece_
Textbook negotiation strategy
Seller: Are you interested in paying more than $3k
Buyer: No
Seller: Then I guess the price is $3k
These framing services in Las Vegas seem to be quite expensive.
Lmao, he sighs just like his old man XD
i wont deal with Corey
he's ripping off customers
He's giving the other guy warning that it's just a handshake because after his insulting lowball offers he's expecting to get decked.
When I glanced over the video on my home screen I pressed on the video because I thought it said Leonard nimoy lol
If you wanna sell bikes, sell it to corey

Happy birthday Mr. Smithers.
"Art expert" is such a chad
i love leroy niemoy !
What about a spinoff show that's just them doing the paperwork after the deal?
How about a spin-off that shows what happens after they leave stuff on the counter unattended?
I cannot unsee Corey’s dumb handshake!

How much could it possibly cost to frame something?
From 20$ at Ikea to millions.
Corey:do you mind if i call in an expert
Owner: Yes absouletley
I didn't know Spock was a painter.
The seller should've walked away for less than $3,500.
Leonard Nimoy
What happened to the regular art dealer that looks official?
I am wondering where you get your appraisers from. Crooks R Us!
Under the freeway overpass where all the drunks hang out.

WOW! A painting by Leonard Nimoy... oh... never mind.
I mean $2500 is a ridiculous first offer. And the guy sells it at $3000

Fine Art sells itself, all you got to do is hanging on a wall
Where’s brett?
Are frames sold on percentage?
People make rick out like he rips people off but this dude stays giving people bad prices
Its like these people never heard of eBay
Corey that's a huge low ball offer. $3000 is ridiculous. Easily $4000+
When your business is so rich you use silver bars as paperweights.....
Is the appraisal free for the consumer? If so I'd get that appraisal & tell him what I want. If no, then see yah!!! Deuces.
I hate to see these guys who are so timid about bargaining with the crew. Jeepers!
Robbed. Framing costing $3k as much as the painting lol.
