I’ve been trying to catch up with this franchise, but baby this season 5 feels so hard to get through. It feels like the writers are losing ideas. Seasons 1-3 I was glued to the screen but these last two? I’m finding myself doing chores during the show.

Emmett was the biggest f*#kboy in Chicago but, we forgot Tiffany was a hot damn mess the first season. She was an unfit mother. I thought she might've been on drugs (from the way she was acting). Then I had to remember she was very young with little help from her mother and no help from Emmett at the time. I'm glad both have grown ( Emmett more than Tiff) tremendously.
TBH the first two seasons were heavy and actually realistic compared to now. Sadly, these type of shows don’t last if the promo isn’t there. I feel like the shift from black trauma to black love was a marketing move from Showtime. The Chi is more family friendly which I think was intentional.
I really thought the Chi was gone give the updated version of the wire too...one of my fav shows and I still binge watch it every now and then..weebay was 😍

He really has, and the thing is he was also really trying towards the end of his relationship with Tiffany. He told her he didn't want an open relationship, he wanted them both to try and make their marriage work, she said no. I get that she had trust issues with him but she had checked out emotionally and physically moved on.. to another guy. So her acting like Emitt has only changed, because its Kiesha isn't technically true, hes been was trying, she just wanted no parts of it.

No one is acting like Victor is ashamed of being with a trans woman. It’s the fact that he’s trying to appeal to a community of black folks who we all know can be judgmental and not vote for him for that very reason
It's sad that we have been so groomed for an appetite for violence and drugs , that joy and love, family and reconciliation are boring. Internalized oppression is real. I'm pretty sure that was Lena's goal was to present a different representation of Chicago. To show a city where love and family reside.
I really hate when y’all try to go the moral high ground and act like y’all above certain things. No one is groomed. That’s how the show presented to us and it would’ve continued had Jason Mitchell not messed and got fired. The reality is if you’re going to do a tv show about Chicago, you have to show what happens in Chicago: the violence, the crooked politicians, the activism and not show just one or two parts of it. So excuse us because we wanted some grittiness mixed into the mix and a better written script before none of this would work in real life

I really hate to say this, but I keep having this horrible feeling that something really bad is gonna happen to Papa, due to him hanging out with Bakari. Him going off for the next episode; knowing that he's usually the comical relief; and the glue to the group between kevin and Jake, i believe he's lashing out of anger since the two of them in a way always puts him in the background of their friendship, its kinda sad but i would not be surprised because stuff like that really do happen unfortunately. And you're right about Deja, she irked me this episode getting mad at shad so quickly. I already know Keshia finna fall out with Tiff when Emmett tells her she came onto him. .You know what Ashley, im glad you put that out there that the true essence of this show has kinda dwindled a bit (meaning the grittiness of the show from the first 2 seasons)
Kevin is playing video games way too much to be drug dealing. This may not be the most action packed season but it is the best written. Tiff had no right to last minute drop the boy off with Emmitt. He probably knows he can't handle more than three at a time.
