I've experienced how important having a flexible schedule is. Many times I would've just simply made an entire schedule for the week in which I had no spare time, and the toilet would broke, or someone would ask me for a favor that I couldn't say no, and by getting off the schedule I would at some point get exhausted and give up off the schedule for days or weeks. Getting track of your time and having due times is great, but I feel like a student I sometimes just need a time to sit on the couch and do nothing for hours. Give yourselves the maximum of free time to relax and do stuff you actually enjoy, it'll be easier to get your other stuff done consistently!

I've been looking at planning and scheduling videos for months now because I've been stuck in a slump and absolutely no one talked about how a student should go about planning their day. I finally feel motivated to get my shit done because of how well you broke things down and made it so so simple. Things no longer feel overwhelming, thanks to you!

It anyone wants a more visual way to get a sense of how long things take you, resteoactively update your calendar throughout the day instead of timing yourself. This has helped me HEAPS, especially since I always forget to stop the timer :) retroactive time-blocking gives me a minute to reflect on what I've been doing and what I'm about to do when task switching, as well as showing visually how long I spend doing certain things. Over time it helps me optimise my future schedule because I know, on average, how big those blocks of time should be and when in the week (or month, for my ladies) I should schedule those things. Still flexible, but flows with my energy too.

It’s really nice to see a student organisation video that isn’t just “plan your day minute by minute with a robotic and strict routine each day that has zero room for adaptation”. Quick, simple to understand, incredibly adaptable, space to implement smaller routines if desired and not generic.
I’ve definitely leaned towards a method slightly similar after realising the whole day routine thing wasn’t for me. A to do list based on a spreadsheet of topics to revise, picking based both on urgency and time taken. I’d then tier them to see what I needed to prioritise for the day. But there wasn’t any other written structure asides from the class timetable and shift times, no master to do list for things outside of topic revision, no designated place to note extra things (I would write them somewhere but nowhere specific). My weekly calendar was basically just the additional topics I should use as replacements for complete tasks, so it would quickly get outdated/messy and didn’t provide extra benefit. It worked well enough overall but definitely could be improved, and won’t be as good at uni (more miscellaneous commitments/events, plus I got my own place between A-Levels and uni which needs more maintenance).
I think this video basically has everything I need to sort the aspects of my previous method that didn’t work whilst also letting me incorporate other things that have worked for me that aren’t included here. A written system that allows for both allotting times and changing them, without requiring/tempting you to fill in pointless details and plan every minute (which was always frustrating and time consuming). Genuinely a really helpful video that’s allowed me to solidify the details of how I was going to change my plans

It is helpful! For the last 3 years I used to plan at the beginning of the semester when I would study each subject during the week according to the suggested weekly study time for each class. But of course it never ever went according to plan, there was always something new every day, and I ended up overwhelmed and disappointed I couldn't follow that strict schedule. But it makes sense. That's how life is, unexpected things happen! So with this method I feel like I'll eliminate the stress of not meeting my goals since in a short period of time I'll be able to make a more realistic schedule for each unique day:) Plus, I can change the schedule depending of my interest at the moment! Thank you so much!

    pre: time yourself
    - how long does it actually take to eat lunch? you have to make it, eat, and clean up
    - literally time yourself to get a better estimation
    a) capture: when a new task comes up, quickly dot it down on a piece of papre
    b) plan: your day in the morning, based on what needs to be done
    c) move: everything else to the future
    this comes with four rules:
    1. FLEXIBLE
    2. EASY TO RESTART AFTER PERIODS OF NEGLECT

It doesn't have any fancy features, it's pretty simplistic, but you use it as a widget, which is very useful for people who tend to just forget about the to-do lists they wrote (idk if that actually happens to other people too or if that's just a me phenomenon). 1:45 cal Newport book 3 steps to time management system
2:05 1# write down task quickly as they come to mind!
2# then plan your day next morning on what needs to be done based off of what you wrote down previously
3# then based off of the priority list, you established shift all other tasks to a future date based off of priority importance. Pretty basic hard to imagine a whole book being written off that concept alone.

    Note to self:-
    1. Understand how long it really takes for you to do something.
Bcz I am very bad at estimating time. So it's good to know actually how much time it takes to do something. And assign the time accordingly
    2. Tools:-
    1. Calander
    2. To do list
    3. Steps:-
(Note your task and calendar it)
    1. Capture :- note the task on the spot
    2. Plan :- at morning plan what should be done
    3. Shedule :- put the task on the calendar according to the priority and deadlines
    4. Rules:-
    1. It has to be flexible:-
We are not a very big business man currently so our time/shedule has to be flexible.
As it says the future is uncertain, anything can happen so our schedule must be flexible.
    2. It needs to be easy to restart after a long period of neglect:-
We are humans we are not perfect we are going to miss days And that's okay.
    3. It has to reduce stress:-
We can do it by offloading all the tasks, pending work on the piece of paper / to do list.
Having all the deadline tasks floating in the head can be exhausting.
And It makes it impossible to relax.
Your mind is for having ideas not for holding them.
So immediately record any task, deadline and offload from brain
    4. It has to prioritise the task:-
    It's impossible to do everything
So we must pick and choose what's important to us.
    5. How to make a schedule
    1. Wake up
    2. See the task list from yesterday containing all tasks recorded throughout the day
    3. See what's already on the calendar
    4. Look at all the tasks that need to be done
    5. Fit the most imp task into the open slots
    6. Shedule the time accordingly (1st point )
    7. Push other things on the list to future dates which are not urgent/imp
    8. That's it your schedule is ready in less than 5 minutes
Of course your schedule didn't always go as planned because something uncertain came up. But that's okay your schedule is flexible enough so you can rearrange the schedule and nothing will get missed
    Flexibility is the key
    New day
    1. Capture
    2. Plan
    3. Shedule

Title: The Importance of Organization and Simplification: Time, Calendars, and 4 Rules
Introduction: Being organized and keeping things simple can make our lives easier and less stressful. In this information, we will explore the importance of organization and simplification, with a focus on timing ourselves, using calendars, and following four important rules. Let's dive in!
Timing Yourself: One way to stay organized is by timing ourselves. When we time how long it takes to do things like homework or chores, we get a better understanding of how much time we need. For example, if we find out that it takes us 20 minutes to brush our teeth and get dressed, we can plan accordingly and not be late for school.
Using Calendars: Calendars are helpful tools for staying organized. Whether it's a paper calendar or a digital one on our phones like Google Calendar, writing down tasks and deadlines keeps us on top of our responsibilities. We can plan our day based on what needs to be done and even move tasks to different days if needed. This helps us manage our time effectively.
    The 4 Rules:
Be Flexible: Sometimes things don't go as planned, and that's okay. Being flexible means we can change our plans when something unexpected comes up. It helps us adapt and solve problems efficiently.
Easy to Restart: We all have moments when we forget or stop doing our tasks. The important thing is to make it easy to start again later. We can use reminders or notes to keep track of what we need to do, so we don't miss anything important.
Reduce Stress: Writing down tasks, deadlines, and ideas is a great way to reduce stress. When we put these things on paper or in a calendar, we don't have to worry about forgetting them. It helps us have a clear mind and feel calmer.
Prioritize Tasks: Not everything we have to do is equally important. By prioritizing tasks, we can focus on what's truly essential and make good decisions when it matters. This helps us manage our time and energy effectively.
Succinct Summary: Being organized and simplifying our lives are essential for reducing stress and managing our time well. Timing ourselves, using calendars, and following the four rules of flexibility, easy restart, stress reduction, and task prioritization can help us stay organized and accomplish our goals more efficiently.
    Actionable Guidance:
Start timing activities and tasks to understand how long they take.
Use a calendar (paper or digital) to track tasks, deadlines, and appointments.
Embrace flexibility and be willing to adapt your plans when needed.
Make it easy to restart tasks by using reminders or notes.
Write down tasks, deadlines, and ideas to reduce stress and maintain a clear mind.
Prioritize tasks and focus on what's most important to achieve your goals effectively.
Remember, our mind is for having ideas, not holding them. By staying organized and simplifying our lives, we can free up mental space to be more creative and productive.
(Note: The information provided is a general guideline and not based on specific sources. It is important to consult reliable sources and adapt the guidance to individual needs and circumstances.)

another thing that might be useful (at least it is for me) is to write down a list of priorities (like, things you need to do asap) and put it physically on your desk or wherever you spend work / focus. this way you'll have your list of to do always right in front of your eyes to help you keep track of how you're doing

what i was doing wrong in my past two years of school was mentally restricting myself to my schedule, not giving myself even a minute of flexibility... (tsk, i'm not musk...) this always led to me being unable to go back on track, and easily giving up on my detailed schedule after a period of neglect
thanks for this video! the first two points were particularly important tips that i needed to hear

    1. Master **one** skill: understanding how long it really takes for you to do something
    2. **Two** items to carry out: calendar & notebook
    3. **Three** steps for the time management system:
    1. *Capture →* capture **new tasks to do/new assignment
    2. *Organize* → plan what needs to be done **today** in the calendar and reminder
    3. *Schedule* → move all other tasks to future dates in the calendar and reminder
    4. **Four** rules
    1. It has to be **flexible**
    2. It needs to be **easy to restart** after a period of neglect
    3. It has to **reduce stress**
    - Your mind is for having ideas, not holding them
    - Having thoughts about deadlines and assignments floating around in your head is exhausting
    - Therefore, it’s essential to offload things we need to remember into a notes/paper
    - Do not think about assignments and deadlines all the time, it makes it hard to relax when it’s the time
    4. It has to **prioritize** our tasks
    5. Organized in less than **five** minutes

That's the most value skill you learn in the first year of college ^^.
What really helped me to do, is writing down all the tasks that come up to remember it/don't forget something important. Than and just picking THREE of those/or an overall topic and do it throughout the day. But I choose it spontaneous when I just have time. In my head, I calculate what makes the most sense of these 3 in the moment. I actually didn't use specific tasks, mostly it was overall topics and also mandatory stuff like finishing/working on the assignment.
It helps starting something, what is the most challenging part. Three tasks is also a good way to trick your brain into thinking that it isn't that bad. Three Side-Tasks is actually the sweetspot for college students, you most likely can't finish more than 3 Topics next to the lecture I found out. You also showed it in the video :P. If you found out your finished all tasks faster than you thought, than you most likely be in the mood/flow for a forth task. I also like to cross down the Task, than I feel accomplished.
In the past I just used post-it's, but I'm currently programming an good looking app where you can use this concept and use it on the go. The basic App should be finished next week. It's mainly for personal use, but if someone is interested than I can send you the App. I also most likely upload it on the Playstore, because there its free and I don't plan to implement Ads or something. It could also run on iPhones, but 100€/year for uploading it to the Appstore that Apple charges is a little bit to much for a free App with no Ads ^^.

Also, this video is 6 months old, however, I use the app "Structured" and it is exactly what you were doing analogically. One crazy feature is that it shows you unoccupied time between two tasks and prompts you to add any task that can be fit in that empty space!

After many different attempts to manage my time, I also discovered this method and I must admit that it is working amazing (still doing it after 2 years). Even when sth happened and I stopped looking at my calendar for days - I always returned to it with no problem.
But since I get distracted pretty easily the only thing that I needed to add was a cork board with pinned the most important tasks for my work (and chores that I'm doing every week). This way I see what needs to be done with a glance and I can't escape from it xD
