    This literally makes no sense how can joe kill his future self and then live out your life and realize you killed your future self no you already killed him. Meaning is not on a singular timeline and young joe killing himself would not stop old joe since he from a different timeline where he killed his old self

      Exactly it has to be multi verse theory bc it doesn't add up on a singular timeline at all

    Why would the loopers be so willing to kill their older selves?

    • @thestoryof05
      @thestoryof05  Рік тому +20

      The reason the loopers are willing to kill their future selves is that it's part of their job, and they have been conditioned to believe that it's necessary to maintain their way of life. The organization that employs them is powerful and has a lot of control over the loopers, and they are afraid to disobey orders or deviate from their routine.
      Additionally, the loopers are motivated by the promise of a large payout in gold, which they receive upon completing their contract. They are also warned that if they fail to complete their assignment, they will face severe consequences, such as being hunted down and killed themselves.
      the loopers in the movie are portrayed as being somewhat jaded and cynical, with little regard for human life. They have grown accustomed to killing people and have become desensitized to the violence. This makes it easier for them to justify killing their future selves, even though they know that they are essentially killing themselves.

      @TheStoryOf it's still a huge weird conundrum though....how did the loopers go back in time in the first place? If they do, then how does their older self even get kidnapped to go back in time. There's some serious plot holes.

      @@royaltyblessed2454 if you watch the actual movie it's explained.
      They are kidnapped by the crime syndicate and sent back in the time machine. Each Looper has an assigned spot they report to so they send the older looper to the reported spot of their younger self to have their loop closed. There is a boss the loopers report to who is from the future that is given info regarding jobs and tasks.
      As far as them willing to kill themselves, Joe literally says "this job doesn't attract the most forward thinking individuals" as most loopers aren't that bright, including Joe himself. Most Loopers are orphans or come from poor families that are lured with a job that provides fast wealth with little labor.
      They also never know who they are killing, as the people sent back are masked and are immediately buried. The only way they know is by the large gold payday they get when they check their back.

      Isn't that what people already do? Take for example work hours. You work many hours today to bring more money today, at the cost of your future health and early death. It's like killing your future self for gold bars today.
      It's even worse because there are no gold bars, just coins.

    This movie is interesting but complicated and confusing etc. I wonder what would have happened if he had left town instead?

      This is very true. It's interesting how when one tries to right a wrong THEY are the ones that make the situation worse, just like in the butterfly effect. Had old Joe not try to unalive the rainmaker, the rainmaker wouldn't exist.

    This ended in a totally different way than i remember. In what i saw, the mother and young Joe dies while the kid escapes on a train

      @martinpp95 Рік тому

      If i remember it correctly that's what young Joe thought or "saw" was going to happen if he didnt do anything, keeping the loop making the kid the rainmaker, so instead he decided to kill himself to save the future.

      I think that is a flashback/forward? Of the story IF he didn't kill himself at the end. it's been cut from this video but in the film you see it when Joe realises he can close the loop

    I'm glad Rian Johnson got his practice in on how to tell a story with this movie so we could get the Knives Out movies. Or just don't let him write the movie.
