IN YESTER YEARS THE ASHTAPATHI PRIYE CHARUSEELE RENDERED IN MUKARI RAGA ONLY. NOWADAYS PEOPLE RENDERING THE ASHTAPATHIS IN THEIR OWN KALPANAS. THE BHAVA OF THE SONGS VANISHED.THIS IS MY HEARTFELT OPINION
Ashtapadi should be rendered in traditional Ragas without any distortion so that the Bhava of the Ashtapadi is retained. Purity is lost if each starts rendering in one's own way .
Great effort; but the vocalist obviously strains & struggles for effort. The variation in volume of sound results in a sort of “yodelling” most inappropriate in the context. Krishna has passed the yodelling & loud complaint stage. He is close to death; submitting himself abjectly to Radha’s will. So he is sighing, his sobs subsiding. High volume yodelling gets tiresome as the song progresses.Significant the violinist does show a greater & more appropriate self restraint.

( இது 4 வது அஷ்டபதியில் வருகிறது) அதனால் கோபம்.அடைந்த ராதை யமுனைக் கரையில் இருந்த தீரம் என்ற இடத்தில் தனியாக அவளுடைய தோழி இந்து லேகா என்ற பெண்ணோடு வருத்தத்தில் இருந்தாள். தோழி கண்ணனிடம் ராதையின் சோகத்தையும், கோபத்தையும் சொல்லி அவனை அழைத்து வருகிறாள். ராதை முதலில் முகத்தை திருப்பிக் கொண்டு " நீ செல்" என்று கூறிவிடுகிறாள். ( 17 வது). அப்போது கண்ணன் ராதையிடம் பேசுவதாக எழுதப் பட்டது இந்த அஷ்தபதி. ஜயதேவர் தான் கண்ணன் ராதையின் காலை தலைமேல் வை என்று எழுதியது சரியல்ல என்று நினைத்து பாதியிலேயே நிறுத்தி விட்டார். பின்பு எண்ணெய் ஸ்நானம் செய்ய நதிக்கு சென்றார்.( எண்ணெய் தடவி விட்டு). இவர் சென்றதும் கிருஷ்ணன் ஜெயதேவர் போல் உருவெடுத்து வீட்டிற்கு வந்து மனைவியிடம் அந்த ஓலைச் சுவடியை கொண்டு வரச் சொல்லி அந்த சரணத்தை பூர்த்தி செய்து மீண்டும் சென்று விடுகிறார். சிறிது நேரம் கழித்து ஜயதேவர் வந்து மனைவியிடம் பாதியில் விட்டு இருந்த சுவடியை கொண்டு வரச் சொன்னார். முன்னர் எழுதியதை மாற்ற. ஆனால் அவர் கண்டது என்னவென்றால் சரணம் நிறைவு பெற்று எழுதப் பட்டு இருந்தது. ராதையின் பாதம் பற்றிய வரிகள் அப்படியே இருந்தன. இவருக்கு ஆச்சர்யம். மனைவியை கேட்டார். அவர் நீங்கள் தானே வந்து சரணத்தை எழுதி சென்றீர்கள். சுவடியில் எண்ணெய் படிந்து இருப்பதை பாருங்கள் என்றார். ஜெயதேவருக்கு நடந்தது புலப் பட்டது. மாயக் கண்ணன் தான் வந்து இதை பூர்த்தி செய்தவன் என்று. மனைவியிடம்.நீ செய்த பாக்யம்.நான் செய்யவில்லை. நீ கண்ணனை நேரில் கண்டவள். உத்தமமானவள் என்று.சொல்லி அந்த அஷ்டபதியின் கடைசி சரணத்தில் எப்போதும் தன் பெயரை எழுதும் ஜெயதேவர் இந்த சரணத்தில் " பத்மாவதி ரமண ஜயதேவ" என்று முத்திரை பதித்தார். ஜயதேவரின் மனைவி பெயர் பத்மாவதி.
Akkarai Suhalaksmi is a great Violinist.But of late the sisters are venturing into vocal.But the sisters play Violin duets better compared to their singng.This is my personal opinion.Akkarai Suhalakshmi is a great Violin accompanist too and can take any challenge from Vocalists.
There has been lot of publicity I think in respect of TMK. As a carnatic musician he sings alright, but it can only be enjoyed by the Carnatic exponents- not appealing like majority of music lovers both ordinary folks as well as those who have learnt it and with knowledge. It’s SPB’s singing. TNK cannot go near his singing. Because SPB took so much pain to do hours of practice to ensure even a song he sung 40 yrs back he sing exactly to satisfy all his audience just like KJJesudas.

I think this is the same case with Dr Sriram Parasuram, who plays Violin much better than his Vocal singing.
Vocal in Carnatic is what attracts more audience than instrumental. They are both excellent vocalists as well.
I have played Ghatam for Dr Sriram Parasuram a few times.
What bhavam does this ashtapadi project?. The singer as always betrays the kriti. Sounds like Mukhari. So it is sad song?
The ashtapadi is rendered in Mukhari itself. The poster is not wrong in itself
