probably their most daring album... still sounds super fresh... production is perfect
My favorite band since I was a schoolboy

@@user-df5gs7wk3zyes it is the original comment is correct all Deep Purple is good
Forever DEEP PURPLE should be in the hall of fame.
Their style of music and sound, lyrics is awsome Long live DP
They are in the Hall of Fame couple years ago
Steve Morse is, without a doubt, a great guitar player. Any and all song that has the sound of his guitar really becomes a gem.

I saw Steve Morse band in a big bar concert venue in old Québec city during the 90's. Top 5 best live experience ever. Still remember the hell of good musicians gathering around him and the master at work. Truly impressive, and i've seen a lot of concert before my 60's. It was a real experience, fresh in my mind, just because how good and how cool Steve was on stage. 👍👍👍
Never (heard it) before! Really great, absolutely fantastic!
This album is magnicifent, the bands great sound is like the 70,s albums. Well, great introduction to Mr, Steve Morse. He is such a great guitarist. Thankyou for continuing the majesty of this great rock band. Deep purple is part of me. Ian Gillan, Roger Glover, jon Lord, Ian Paice, Steve Morse. Vincent la Valletta malta.
Best Rock band of all time, saw them live in 93'
The late Jon Lord's(God rest his soul) last album before retiring in 2002.He died in 2012 of liver cancer.
So appropriate to listen to this gem! Thank you Steve Morse - healing vibes being sent to you.
Very good disc, the last one Deep Purple with the amazing Jon Lord.
As it was the last with Jon Lord, Abandon is the last true Deep Purple album for me, Both it and Purpendicular produced some awesome Purple when Morse brought his best riffs in the beginning.
While Don Airey still delivers Jon's goods live, his studio album contributions rarely evoke Jon Lord's classic signature DP sound.
That's because he's a different player.
@@crazyguy43 Thank you Captain Obvious. Every band has many guitarists with signature sounds but they can be replaced. Deep Purple is a band with a signature sound that was based on the keyboard being just as important as the guitar. Jon Lord made the most important contribution that made Deep Purple.
Purpendicular was breakthrough in "new" Purple era. Steve Morse definitely injected new fuel into old DP engine.
Underrated album in my opinion !...
Absolutely true!
maybe the best album with steve morse
a SLAN Nah, that definitely goes to Purpendicular.
No, I think it's the "worst" of the Morse Albums, but it's still very good and clearly underrated. I would rate like this: Now What?! -> Purpendicular -> InFinite -> Rapture Of The Deep -> Bananas -> ABandOn
@@callmekarlos6184 You wright, absolutely. All albums with Morse, are HIGH-END GARBAGE...
Love Deep Purple. We worked with them a few times in 1970's. Great times.
no you didnt
@@user-mr6kg2op8m ...wow !! I bet that guy has some good stories from the 70's tours ..
Deep Purple is my favorite musical color! Don't ever stop the DP legend from expanding the Musical Universe.
Didnt care much for this one in the 00s when I heard it. Listening on headphones now and digging it!
Saw them on this tour. The combination of the band and the audience nearly took the roof off the Coliseum in Lisbon. Saw them on the Bananas tour at the NEC and the energy had almost completely gone. It brought it home to me what a phenomenal driving force Jon Lord was to Purple.
His sound is more up-front and earthy on this album than on a lot of the other studio albums. Proper Deep Purple sound here.
Bananas tour, 2003 Katowice, Poland. Probably the most powerful show from almost 20 gigs I saw between 1996-2019.
@@4x4.tests.on.rollers Not very `spokojni´ that night then! That´s Purple! Polish audiences help a lot.
@@leopolitan1914 That's true!
По мне - A.BAND.ON - провальный альбом ...
Jon Douglas lord "R.i.p"🎵🎼🎶🎹😎👊
In my opinion, and as a real fan of this band, Abandon is one of their strongest lps by time; no weak song; some really heavy and very interesting high quality tunes on it. It stands here on a level with their classic 70s output like burn oder who do you think we are and close behind their signature Lps like In Rock or Machine Head.
Abandon IS a really good album in DP panoply, if isn't THE best! Thanks to the god of Rock, we still have music!
Totally agree, but try & find it on Spotify & it’s not there ?

Saw them on this tour. Was great watching Jon Lord weave his magic
It was twenty years ago when I heard this when Abandon was fresh. I was totally blown out when I realized, this is as good as the legendary records like InRock, Fireball etc. Still regard this great record and a clear evidence Deep Purple got better in those years. Which other "old" band has been able to improve as much ?
Riku Nevalainen great comment. Agree 200%
Okay most of the classic Mark II LPs and some others with their hits and highlights are unbeatable.. But after that Abandon is.
One of the heaviest álbums of the last 25 years of DP.
Just arrived today, and after just 2 spins, can't imagine anything from the Morse era topping this!
Purpendicular, maybe Now What!?, but dang it's so close. Morse era is heavily underrated in my opinion. Fingers To The Bone and Seventh Heaven are either in or sit right outside my top 10 purple songs.
Fantastic...love Deep Purple and love this album. ❤️
This tour was my first of seven times seeing them. Last minute decision to go . Ended up in the 2nd row center. Went with my best friend who took his own life a few months later. The best of times and the worst of times…..
Legends.
Very likeable record indeed.
Grew up with Ritchie but appreciate Steve Morse as well.
Thanks for the upload.
That first song made me fall in love and Fingers to the bone sealed the deal with that amazing performance
W Deep Purlple ✌️🎸😆. Ciao Tiz 💪😎🇨🇭
Love this album

Simply Brilliant.
great band with great steve morse
A bit more aggressive than Purpendicular, but each album is very special to the Purple archives in their own unique way. Purpendicular had more of a nuanced, fragile ambiance, like watching an albino deer in the wild from a distance. It's really amazing but you have a sense it could all be over at any moment the whole time you are enjoying the beautiful and exotic experience. Abandon is a bit more like watching a train rolling along the tracks from around the backside of a mountain from an adjacent summit. It seems to just keep coming from nowhere, leaving you in awe as you try to comprehend it's impressive power and seemingly endless length from a couple of miles away for a short period of time that seems to last for days. Purpendicular has a fragile beauty to it that you hate to walk away from because you might miss what is going to happen in your absence. Abandon is so precise and impressively powerful, you are incapable of walking away so you take advantage of every moment you are rendered catatonic and take it all in. Morse really did an amazing job of integrating his own trademark brand of guitar wizardry into the first two mk Vl era albums. The band coalesced around him like a family around a newborn child. Glover and Paice lay down a deliberate yet natural package of grooves, and Ian sounds more passionate and engaged as the front man of Purple than he sounded since Perfect Strangers or Machine Head. Job Lord is perhaps the most important element to his final two DP albums. His organ and keyboard playing interweaves with Morses guitar in an organic bond unmatched by any chemical made by man. Lord really pulls everything together like the gravity of the sun. Not even the likes of the ubiquitous Don Airey has managed to replace Lord in Purple. It's not so much an issue of talent or ability as it is the rapport, presence, and chemistry Lord developed over his 25 years in the band. He was a founding member and the most educated music theorist in the band. Their sound was forged around his style of playing and he was responsible for the bulk of the Purple sound. Morse is another classically educated musician, and he and Lord were an instant tour de force. Those guys didn't just play music, they spun gold from cotton. Say what you will about Richie, he was great but he played by feel. His feel is legendary, but he occasionally sounded as if he was trying to lead Lord because he wasn't able to follow him. They were a great team, but Bolin and Morse both stepped right in and filled his void. Airey is more a feel player, again following Morse but in this case it's because he's not comfortable leading him. Blackmore wasn't the irreplaceable commodity, it was Lord.
Exelent analisis, and very enjoyable to rid , you know whats talking about.sorry ....my english is week.long live to the purple😙🍺💪

Absolute GREAT, as DP have been for many and many years. Thank you very much.
Amazing!
There’s a story behind each song superb album its Friday night and its purple night 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺🏖
Thanks!👍😘🇸🇪
Outstanding
This CD and Purpendicular were a great way to introduce Steve Morse into Deep Purple. The creative juices were flowing quite nicely. Abandon was a heavier disc than Purpendicular.
Fred and Patty Chandler This album is boring compared to Purpendicular.
Deianbouuuu
You are Right absolutely Right
I m ean after album perpendicular and a Andon it is not nice
Yes, Steve Morse is indeed a great guitar player.
These times I was listening to "Rapture of The Deep", excellent 2005's album, and I feel more n more as Steve Morse is an awesome guitarist, his touch is so feely.
Perfection
Am big fan saw purple 4 time live with Richie and Jon without them aswell this album is great aswell especially Jon on keyboard Steve fit right in with the rest of the band great guitarist he keep purple going god bless

What a great solo from Steve Morse!! Love it!
I remember hating this album when I first listened, but now that I'm giving it another try years later... It's prettt neat!
great band great album greetings from croatia
Sounds great!!
Such a great record. But the sound is so different. Gillan is still as good as he was in 80s, Steve sounds amazing. Jon, Roger and Ian Paice are as good as ever.
An excellent album.

Recognizable bit of Bloodsucker (1970) in the beginning.
💜Deep Purple💜
Thank you for posting this. You can't buy the regular cd or even mp3 of it. Because it's not available the used cd's are marked way up. I am glad I can listen to it here.
I got my original copy kindda 20 years ago and still have it like brand new

I love this album!
Awesome! Deep Purple 💜💜💜
Love that first tune.
funky heavy r n b, the purple majesty

An album with links to Gillan's Toolbox in terms of heaviness. Not as immediate as Purpendicular, but just as good when you get to know it. Same as with UFO's Walk on Water (instant classic) and Covenant (a grower).
They had never should stopped their heavyness
A unique album. Interesting and strange. I found it here, bringin back memories. English rock...
Fingers to the bone
Alias Glilou A brilliant track.
Watching the sky ...
Steve Morse and Jon Lord perfectly match each other. I love that guitar-organ duels and trading solos ( a DP trademark)
Don't Make Me Happy whould have been a tremendous hit if it had been released in the 70s. Brilliant, anyway.
Steve is a Gem❤
Whoosh! is a really great offering, the recurrent motif and theme kinda mainstreaming the hints of cloaking devices and other Northern Lights phenomena...
purple my fav band and this album grossly underated
Zajebisty!
THIS GREAT CD.

I would love this album more, if I could listen to it on a brand new vinyl record. That would be an awesome experience.

The first song takes up the rhythmic line of love child from the album "come taste the band" with some differences in rhythm and note!
