thanks johnny .. i lived in glengrove ev 34 years ago and i really want to come back .. in your walk on march 16th you arrived at 10pm from the house where i lived .. luciana polesel lives there .. a wonderful italian .. a wonderful family ..Thanks again
Little Manila! Several years ago, I worked as a French teacher in an elementary Montreal's school with children who came from the Philippines. Such lovely kids and wonderful parents, I remember them with pleasure.
Over 30 years ago, I used to live at Bathurst & Wilson. I opened my first bank account at TD bank behind where you got off the bus. I used to shop at Loblaw's next to the bank. Interestingly bus #7 still goes to Steeles. There was a 7G which would go to Wilson Metro station (last Metro station at the time) from Bathurst. I used to live with a Jewish family back then. Thanks for posting. I reminded me my old memories. Btw once in a cold winter I walked from Lawrence station all the way home at 2am in -20C. I thought #7 bus would run 24h but it never came!
This is a great area you walked, I'm happy you took this tour Johnny, this is a neighbourhood that i remember as I grew up here. Today is Little Manila...But when I grew up here in the 1980s and 1990s, it was still a Jewish area, and in a way still is, since a lot of them are still here. But Wilson is now Philippine area, but all good...I love this area even today as I did then.....
Hi Johnny, love your interactions with the community and the kindness you show towards them. I am a new subscriber to your channel and I love it soooooo much. This is what it's all about.
Thanks for showing me how things are in Toronto lately. I haven't watched in a week or so. North Bathurst is ok I guess. Convenient place to live obviously.
you talking about "warmer" days with 7 degrees... and I'm here in the southern hemisphere, finishing summer and getting cold with 18 degrees hahaha (I do like the cold though, just have to get used to it again after the summer)
Dunno if anyone gives a damn but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can stream all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been streaming with my brother for the last months xD
I've always thought of this area as urban sprawl, ugly strip plazas and low-rise buildings, but as in everything else, it has some good points. Cheers mate👍
You might like to go north on Bathurst another time.. Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson used to hang out at Pancer's Deli. The old location though was four blocks north of where it is now (just north of Wilson). This video shows them touring their old neighbourhood. ua-cam.com/video/uRi0k1HPcbY/v-deo.html There's another deli called Wolfie's in a plaza at Sheppard and Bathurst where Drake used to go as a kid. His grandmother lived in the area.
@@JohnnyStrides Nice, thanks for the reply. I actually ended up buying the pocket 2 after I saw one of your videos when you were walking through the Annex. Cheers
Yes you did pronounce it incorrectly lol Next time you should spell it out and someone can help you pronounce it for you. It sounded like it’s a name of a Yeshiva which is a school for boys/men. Baycrest is a home for Jewish seniors. I believe they might have some kind of hospital attached to it, but it’s mainly for the residency. It even has a Sabbath elevator. Which means it stops on every floor during Shabbat. Gryfe’s bagels are the best!!!Have a good day!
They also shouldn't have cancelled the Eglinton West Subway that was already under construction... or built half a Sheppard line (build it all or not at all IMO). We're still paying dearly for the Harris era.
What a bloody rip off. Built with our tax dollars, sold for a song to foreign interests by the Harris government...I will never drive a single kilometre on its cursed asphalt...
Dear Mr. Strides..... 413 Highway -- $6-billion dollars for a FUCKING HIGHWAY but the Ontario Government cannot be bothered to invest -2-FUCKING cents into HOMELESS AND MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES...... How more sick can society get!! ..... Glad to know your video-making has informative NEWS... CHEERS!!

Indeed happy St Patty's day!
Very nice video
Happy Johnny how are you doing there
Is Yonge street still the longest street in the world?
I lived above Barak jewelry at Wilson and Bathurst in the mid nineties. It really hasn't changed much.
Nice walk

For future kids who are watching this on Mars , yes this is how the Earth looked in 150 years ago
Once the pandemic is over, I may go to other cities in Canada and the United States and do videos there.Toronto is definitely one of my options.

Hey Johnny, do you ever use nd or polarized filters with your dji pocket 2? And if so what brand would you recommend? Cheers!
I don't use any filters as auto exposure works best for what I do. Cheers

I have a doubt...if bike commuters want to cross the 401 to the other side. Can they cross through 401?
They can cross the same as pedestrians or other motorists not using the 401. There's plenty of opportunities (I walked past one on this video).
@@JohnnyStrides Thanks.👍
Happy johny

They should never had sold the 407 to a private company
