More power to this lady. The way she speaks reminds me of the way we _used_ to speak to one another. Thinking ahead of what to say and how to say it; not being afraid of a brief silence while she thought/articulated. Wish that would make a comeback.
I'm am an American cyclist who lives in England ( I have two Raleigh bikes , 1939 & 1983 ones) . I agree with what your saying , it's not very different over here , car drivers have become more aggressive, so much so that I now will only ride on roads that have no physical separation for car/bike road users if I'm in a group (safety in numbers). Happy biking 😊
Came to make a similar comment (that the increase in size has happened here in the UK too) but glad you as an American have got there first; it carries a bit more weight coming from you since we might be easily dismissed as paranoid repressed Little-Englanders otherwise. Our roads simply weren't made for this increase in size, either. Not spatially and not in terms of durability (which partly explains our pothole-riddled roads). Residents are having to park their cars half on the street and half on the pavement (sidewalk) just so's traffic can pass. So peds lose out yet again. Thankfully some cities are fighting back with fines for such selfish behaviour. Unfortunately the rush to electric seems to mean even larger cars in future...
I love your story and advice. I'm in the process (could take until spring) of re-tubing and re-tiring my older bike so I can ride again. It makes me feel better, gives me another mode of transportation that doesn't cost as much money to fix as a car and I can get most of my errands done when then weather is warmer. Bikes are much healthier and easier to maintain than a car... thanks for your inspiration.
I have the same bike for my wife ( Pashley Soverign ) as well as an Elephant bike ( Pashley Mailstar ) for myself. Love the hub gears, hub brakes and hub dyno on these things, haven't had to anything but add air to the tyres in over 10years!
This past spring, I returned to cycling after a 20+ year layoff. I had my bikes overhauled, and I added two more to my stable; I now have four bikes. Anyway, after getting back in shape and learning the bike again, I feel confident enough to use my bike for short trips vs. using my car. I don't see myself getting rid of my car any time soon (public transport in my area sucks!), but I do see myself using my bike more for local trips.
I still suck very bad at driving a car & I really don't feel bad about that!! I definitely hate to learn how drive a car & I also hate to take drivers education in high school!! I always & forever dangerously in 💞💞 & obsessed with biking everywhere because I totally realize that is a form of my transportation & it definitely save my life & my mental health!! I lost my ex girlfriend from epilepsy seizure in 2021!! I also lost the 💞 of my entire life my momma Remonia Simmons to cancer in 2021 3 years ago!! Last year I also lost my half brother on my mother's side in his sleep!!
Well that was cool. AND ueah SUV and pickup truck drivers are often aggressive. And just keep getting more dangerous. They stopped being about transportation years ago.

This is a great interview thank you. Please do more like it.

I'm glad that you've rediscovered cycling. You'll be much better off for it.

American society in general is built around 🚗. The rest of the world is not. public transportation is a must in Europe, Asia, South America .
Hahah, 1993 for me…
What's her Instagram? She seems pretty awesome
